Take a trip to the small Texas town where only outsiders fit in with the first novel in #1 New York Times bestselling author Charlaine Harris’ paranormal mystery series.Welcome to Midnight, Texas, a town with many boarded-up windows and few full-time inhabitants, located at the crossing of Witch Light Road and the Davy highway. It’s a pretty standard dried-up western town. There’s a pawnshop … town.
There’s a pawnshop with three residents. One is seen only at night. There’s a diner, but people stopping there tend not to linger. There’s a newcomer, Manfred Bernardo, who just wants to work hard and blend in. But Manfred has secrets of his own…

I enjoyed comparing it to the TV show.
As with all of Charmaine harris’ Books it did not disappoint!! Richly developed characters. Highly recommend.
Love this 3 book series.
If you watched the tv series before you read these books you’ll be disappointed. They are only vaguely similar.
I love this series! It ties in with the true blood series and pulled me in from the first page. As soon as I was finished with the last page of the first book I started the second one and on and on. This is a fascinating and entertaining series. If you love paranormal it is well worth your time. Give it a try. I love everything Charlaine Harris writes
I liked the whole series. Far different from the tv show. Almost in the same vein of the early True Blood books.
I also love the TV series based on this book!
I love this book. It is easy to read and very entertaining. I recommend this book highly.
I adored the Sooke Stackhouse book series (much less the television series) so I chose to try her more recent Midnight Crossroads 3-book series. What a hoot!
I’ll need to return to write a full review, but I will say that I really enjoyed the diverse characters, unique town and beginnings of the plot line Charlaine created in this first book of the series.
I was also impressed with the artfull character development of the main citizens of Midnight, Texas and that she left a few individuals lightly sketched in order to create subtle plot line mysteries waiting to be fully explored in the 2nd and 3rd books.
A Light, fun and but interesting read. I highly recommend this book to anyone who’d like a break from their day to day routine.
I watched the TV show and it follows the book pretty closely. A good read and a different kind of book.
I love this author. She is one of my must reads. I have enjoyed this series, as I have her others.
I love anything written by Charlaine Harris! She develops her characters in such a way that you get to know them intimately. In Midnight, the folks who live there aren’t your every day neighbors but they’re the type I’d really like as my neighbors because I’d feel safe!
This book is part of the Midnight, Texas trilogy by Charlaine Harris. Some of the characters have had minor roles in other series she has written (Sookie Stackhouse series and the Harper Connelly series). I am a fan of the other series and this trilogy is an amazing read. The characters are sharply drawn and intriguing. You can run but you can’t hide–even if you try to hide in Midnight, Texas. I recommend this to people who like psychics, vampires, angels, demons, and so much more. When I finished one book, I couldn’t wait to grab the next one. And at the end of the trilogy, I was left still wanting more stories about the residents of Midnight, Texas. And, YES, the books are better than the TV series; although it is a well-cast really good one.
Slow to start
A sad follow up to the Snooky Stakhouse stories. The book is well written but the plot and story line are slow, and filled with little promise. You will find shapeshifters, a witch, a psychic and other characters all of whom have promise, but the story line leaves little hope for the future, and even the VERY CONVOLUTED ending to the high drama point in the story is Weak, and missing any believability.
I loved this series and I loved watching it on TV. I was really sad that it only lasted one season.
I love her
Love Midnight Crossroad. Love the characters and the camaraderie of the town. They all have different gifts but they always pull together. Action, romance and drama.
I love the authors humorous style of writing…her True Blood series was addictive.
Charlaine Harris’s greatest accomplishment remains her Sookie Stackhouse series. This one is entertaining but doesn’t come near the other.
