For all the everyday heroines over forty who know it’s NOT TOO LATE for magic! From the five time winner of Best Paranormal Romance Series (Knights of Black Swan), a humorous new series by New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, Victoria Danann. The day after my forty-third birthday, my husband announced he was trading me in. His words, not mine. The news was unwelcome at the time, but … was unwelcome at the time, but honestly? I needed a good goosing to get up and find my way to the door.
So. I was freed from the manual of expectations authored by my ex that had, over the years, grown into an encyclopedia of what a wife “should” be and do. The freedom was the good news. The flip side was less happy. Due to living in a state not friendly to discarded wives, I was also relieved of the financial ‘security’ I’d spent a lifetime accruing.
Starting over? I didn’t plan on it. Didn’t see it coming. But pulling a sheet over my head and waiting for the end didn’t seem like my style. Granted. I wasn’t sure what my style was because I hadn’t thought about freedom of expression since I was twenty.
I’d never been a fan of optimistic adages like ‘it’s not too late’, but that was before my life was divided into two parts; everything that came before the mysterious package and everything after. Fate shot me with a lightning bolt of attitude adjustment and thrust me head first into an adventure that was unforeseeable to say the least. If you’d told me what my life was going to be like, I would have used every synonym for crazy you’ve ever heard.
I ‘inherited’ a curious antique store in a tiny, picturesque English village where the world of fae magic lives side by side with the mundane. But that’s far from all. Eight times a year, I receive magical dignitaries and magical lowborn alike and mediate their disputes; some comical, some deadly serious.
It may be too late for super shiny hair, going without a bra, or sleeping eight hours without a potty break. But it seems that it’s not too late for navigating magical politics, expatriating, romance, and saving the world.
If you can imagine yourself as a romantic and adventurous woman in midlife, who’s come into her power and ready to claim a slice for herself – this Paranormal Women’s Fiction book is for you.
Perfect for fans of K.F. Breene, Shannon Mayer, Elizabeth Hunter, and Lucia Ashta.

I really enjoyed listening to this; it makes me want to be taken away to a place like this of magic finding a new place to live, new friends, a new way of life and love.
Midlife Magic by Victoria Danann is the first in the Not Too Late series!
I thought this was a fantastic and unique story!! Great beginning for a series!! I loved all the characters, the world building and details. Also, the audio narration was a great fit for the story. Can’t wait for more!!
Rita is a mom, and a wife, soon to be ex-wife. Hey, at least he let her know he is interested in “gasp” a younger woman, and went on his merry way. What’s Rita to do with herself? Take that invite to explore a new world and discover she is more than just a mom and ex-wife of course. Hallow Hill is that secret magical world you always imagined is out there just waiting for you to arrive. And any story with puppies in it is always the kind to make me a happy reader. This is going to be a fun series.
I’m a fan of Ms. Danann’s Knights of the Black Swan series and she didn’t disappoint me with Midlife Magic in this new series. Sometimes poignant, sometimes laugh out loud I enjoyed this book about a woman find herself on her own but then given a second chance at an exciting and adventurous life. A page-turner from cover to cover, I look forward to reading the next book.
This is a difficult one for me to categorize. The beginning opportunity for Rita really stretched the bounds of believability, even for a paranormal book. It was explained, slowly, as the book went on, but it really threw me at first and I almost quit reading it. Since i was curious to figure out the story arc, I did keep reading. The characters are pretty good, the world building is interesting, and I learned a lot of new words! I read a lot and have a good vocabulary, but I did use the online dictionary often when reading this book. The editing could use just a bit of improving, but it wasn’t bad enough to get me to quit (I usually stop reading poorly edited books), and there were a couple of words that the online dictionary and Wikipedia didn’t have a definition for.
I did end up enjoying the story and the characters. One thing you need to know before getting into this though, is that it just quits in the middle of a scene. I was stunned when I turned a page and that was it. I even went back and forth a couple of times to make sure I hadn’t accidently skipped something. I’d have been really annoyed if this series wasn’t on Kindle Unlimited. Since it is, and it did end up catching my interest, I’ll probably go on to the next book in the series.
Absolutely Fantastic!
One of my favorite books of the year! So much humor in this book. My attention was grabbed right from page one. Loved that Rita named her car. Romeo (the car Alfa Romeo) takes Rita to her destination. I had to laugh out loud when there were sheep in the book. If you are a VD fan, you know that she puts sheep in most of her books. Her books just keep getting better and better! So looking forward to the next book! Please do yourself a favor and start reading! I was enthralled by this book! From a Forever Fan… Pam James.
Life can be rough for any middle-aged woman, but it gets harder when your lout of a husband decides that it’s time to trade you in for a newer model. Life sure isn’t fair to women. Most don’t have the option of find a younger model for themselves. Maybe not newer, but perhaps someone that’s a definite upgrade with all the bells and whistles. Fate throws Rita a chance at a bright shiny life in a different country. Can Rita live up to the expectations of others and can she find the confidence to meet her upgrade in life without being overwhelmed?
This is a fun paranormal romance that will make you hope you’ll get a golden ticket too. Victoria doesn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed this book. Can’t wait for the next one in this series.
