Such a fun series by Cee Cee James!
Mid-Century Modern Murder is the fifth book in the Flamingo Realty Mystery series by Cee Cee James. Stella picks up what looks to be possibly her easiest sale ever – until rumors of a young girl, Chelsea Parker, drowning nearby 20 years earlier causes Stella to look into the history. It turns out the police never investigated the drowning and, even stranger, Chelsea was the daughter of the police chief. Another enjoyable read by Cee Cee James.
If you love mid-century homes and mystery reads, then this book is a win-win. Mid-Century Modern Murder is book 5 in CeeCee James’ A Flamingo Realty Mystery series. Fun. Fun. Fun.
Another reviewer wrote, “I have loved this series from the first book, and each one is better than the last! CeeCee James is a master at building suspense and leaving you anxious for the next book.” I agree 100%. I am hooked on this series!
Stella is curiosity is aroused when a prospective buyer asks about the drowning of a teen girl years ago near the home they may be interested in touring. When Chelsea begins asking questions about the death, her curiosity is piqued when it appears that the death may have been more than the accidental drowning that the former police chief ruled. Also, she has a sneaking suspicion that this girl’s death may be somehow related to her mother’s past and current problems. She is more determined than ever to find the truth. Will that determination land her in mortal danger, fighting for her life?
On the home front… Chelsea is determined to connect to her mother now more than ever. She is also determined to force the male members of her family to communicate again. Stella wants her family to function as a healthy family. Individually, her father, uncle, and grandfather interact with and support her very well. But she will not be satisfied until they are communicating and supporting each other as well. I definitely detect a bit of romance in the air. I’m just not sure yet from which direction the air is blowing.
This is a fun, clean, and easy read. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys an entertaining whodunit with a whisper of romance.
“I remember back then how anxious I’d been for the time to pass. Kind of like how I felt now. It seemed like life was a series of hurry up and get there spurts over and over.”
As she diligently looks for the answer to a purchaser’s innocent query about a house, Stella uncovers the mysterious drowning of a young high school swim champion. The further she looks into this anomaly, the more convinced she becomes that this seemingly unconnected event has bearing on her own mom’s incarceration for murder.
Join Stella as she struggles against attempts to block her investigations and outright attempts at murder to reach her shocking conclusion!
Another exciting entry into the Flamingo Realty series that will have you waiting impatiently for the next one. Highly recommend!
[I received a copy of this book from the author, for an honest review of the book. The opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.]
Mid-Century Modern Murder is the fifth in the Flamingo Realty Mystery Series. Stella O’Neil a realtor has a new house to list but there is a story about some one drowning near the house. Well, Stella makes it her mission to find out more about the drowning. As she investigates further, her own mother is some what involved. Causing the investigation to get more it and more complicated that someone tries to hurt Stella. Will she survive?
Then there is her family. Will her father, Uncle Christ and her grandfather, Oscar be in the same every get together?
A potential buyer of Stella’s latest listing has a question about a rumored death that happened nearby. The current owners know nothing about it, so Stella decides to do a little investigating of her own. She learns that a girl, who was a state swimming champion, had drowned in the river 20 years earlier. What is even stranger is that the police pretty much hushed up the case with virtually no investigation. The girl who drowned, Chelsea Parker, was actually the daughter of the Police Chief, Derek Armstrong.
Was it just a coincidence that Chelsea’s death was just the week prior to her mother’s arrest for killing an FBI agent? The more Stella researches the girl’s death, the stronger she feels that there is a connection.
How did Chelsea really die? Was she murdered or was it an accident? Why did the police close the case so quickly? Is Chelsea’s death related to her mother’s imprisonment? Can Stella solve the mystery of the girl’s death?
CeeCee James has another winner with this installment of the Flamingo Realty series. Although each mystery is complete within itself and can stand alone, there is an ongoing family background story that makes the series best read in sequence.
Being a Realtor isn’t all fun and commissions, especially when prospective buyers want to know about an old murder case that happened on the property. The book is as fun as the cover suggests it will be. Love those pink flamingoes!
This series is everything. Love mystery? You will never see the ending coming. Superbly written.
