“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.” -Henry David Thoreau
This is my second book by Lori Thomas Harrington. This is an emotionally packed standalone. The story’s main character is a woman in her mind thirties searching for her soul mate and wanting to live out her dream in music. This book was nothing that I expected. Colbie is one of those characters that has a big heart and even bigger love to share. She spreads love wherever she goes. The small town where she was born and has raised her daughter in, is a typical small town. The people know everything before supper. She feels the town has always frowned upon her. When she was in a life threatening situation, they all bound together and word spread quickly through the prayer chain. It took her almost looking her life to find herself. The town didn’t look upon her how she perceived. They knew her heart and life were in for bigger things. Once Colbie got over the notion that she was too old to follow her dreams, big things happened in her life. I love the way she found herself through the music that was always in her soul. Once she figured out that her dream was within her reach, her joy and love were boundless.
It is refreshing to read about a thirty something living out her dream and finding the love of her life. Sometimes we think we are stuck in the life we have. It is not the case. “The extraordinary comes now and again, and it is exciting, but never forget that it’s the ordinary that makes life worth living.”-Michael’s Heart

Michael’s Heart is the first book that i have read by this author and I loved it. It pulled at my fragile little heart but it also made it happy too. I was a little up an down with the emotions but it is a good story. This book revolves around Colbie and Michael. The author put so much into these characters, and on more than one occasion i could connect on a personal level to Colbie and it made me love her even more. This story was sad on occasion so Bring The Tissues!
I would recommend this to a friend.

Michael’s Heart is the first book I have read by Lori Thomas Harrington, and it was more than I expected. In the beginning of the book, when I learned who Michael was, I was caught off guard and thought it was going to get weird. But the book just got better from there. I love how she tied in all the characters and their similarities. It was very smooth, and not at all forced. There was some strong inspirational messages hidden inside the book, and I loved that. It is so much more than just a romance story. It is about following your dreams, finding yourself again, second chances, and leaning on family and friends. The characters are all very strong and they play off each other very well. I will definitely be reading more by this author. 5 out of 5 stars.
Michael’s Heart by Lori Thomas Harrington was an epic emotional rollercoaster has had me hooked from the first gut-wrenching chapter.
This book is just as sweet and cute as it is, rip your heart out and stamp on it. Tears, there were tears people. It’s not very often that a book will bring me to tears. But hell, this one really got me. It was one of those timeless love stories that, just takes ahold of your heart. But it’s more then that, it’s about self discovery, embracing life and just loving with all you have, whether it’s your friends, family or that one special someone that completes your soul.
This book deserves a move or TV adaptation, it has all the makings of a story that will go down as one of the best love stories in the this decade. Everything about this book is, for me, perfection. The writing was smooth, and had a somber yet light hearted tone that matched the beautiful plot. I wish I could spills everything that has gather in my heart when I finished this book. There are no words to get them out. It’s a weird feeling, I can’t explain it, but as much as my heart is warmed I still want to cry.
Please, please take my super high recommendation that you need to read this one-of-a-kind, marvel of a story that will take a part of your soul and change the shape of your heart.
Happy Reading

Music & Love
This is the first book I’ve read by Lori Thomas Harrington, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I did initially struggle to get into the story, but I gave it a chance and I’m glad that I did. I was slowly pulled in, and become involved in what was happening to Colbie and all the other characters introduced to us by the author. Michael’s Heart is an emotional roller-coaster read that leaves you thinking. For me, it made me wonder what I would’ve done in Colbie’s situation, and also made me realise that I need to have trust and belief in myself and in love – something that was in short supply before I picked up this book. Music plays a major part in the story, and I was definitely able to relate with how music can make a person’s mood change. I think it’s a clever idea by the author to create a playlist of music to go along with Michael’s Heart, and it’s something I’ll be checking out! If you’re looking for a romance that moves you whilst also making you smile, then this is the book for you.
Michael’s Heart by Lori Thomas Harrington is a sweet romance story centering around Colbie Geller. Colbie is a divorced thirty-something who has loved music and searched for her soul mate her entire life. Through a series of events throughout her life she never lost her love of music, unfortunately she did end up settling in the soul mate department. After a horrific accident Colbie is left to struggle with a love that she was not prepared for and a need to find meaning in the music she has always loved.
“True musicians don’t become. They just are. They have the ability to transport a person to another place and reach down inside their soul and caress it.”
“Faith is believing that there are things we just can’t see, but we just know”
Colbie’s journey is one of love, self-discovery, and personal growth with a sweet romance as a bonus. While I enjoyed this story, there were points where I really wished Colbie would “woman up” she spent a lot of time feeling sorry for herself and not seeing what was in front of her like Michael wanted her to. I loved the secondary characters especially Lyric, Sydney, Ali and Bit. I loved this author’s first book so much that I think I may have been a little biased going into Michael’s Heart. While I enjoyed reading the story I felt like something was missing or maybe that was just me.
There are no words. Michael’s Heart by Lori Thomas Harrington was everything. I haven’t had a story/book touch me all the way to my soul in what seems like forever. I will keep this book in my arsenal of must reads. This book came at the right moment in my life and made me stop and think about love and life and one without the other.
Colbie Ann Gellar died today. Don’t be sad for her, she meet’s Michael someone that has always been in her heart and realizes that music is her life. It will forever be a part of her like the air that brings her back to life. This book took you through a journey of Colbie’s life and used music as the vessel on this journey. This book is so touching with a touch of romance.
Colbie and Michael made me shed a few thousand tears, so I would recommend a tissue or two. I couldn’t put this book down once I started it. These characters reach out and grab you and pull you into the story just like you are living it along with them. When I finished this book, I had to take a deep breath. If you read one book this year make it this book. It has my heart.
“It’s time my voice, my heart, and my very soul be heard. Listen closely with your heart as this story unfolds, and you, too, may hear the music.”
Colbie has always been able to hear the music, the feelings in her heart through the instruments and lyrics of songs that touch her soul. It isn’t until she literally dies on the table after an accident that she can really begin to understand exactly why music has always been a cornerstone of her life. When she meets Michael on the other side everything makes so much sense to her. Then she is forced to face the choice between love and life. When she has to figure out how to overcome her painful recovery. What makes it worse is she feels as if she can’t find her music when she needs it the most. What will happen while she is on this journey? Can she find a way to have the love of her life, music, and health? Or will something have to give and she be left without someone or something she isn’t sure she can live without?
“I cannot remember a time when I didn’t hear the music. Within each note lies a symphony, and upon hearing its beauty, something deep inside my soul is unleashed. Different pieces of music affect me in a variety of ways, but thankfully there are enough chord progressions to match my many moods.”
I really connected with this story. Music is one thing that I always have to lean on when words can’t seem to cut it. I know that on my worst days, and I have a lot of them living with chronic illnesses, that I can seek out a playlist of mine that will help me work through whatever ails me, and help me to express what I am feeling when I am at a loss for words. I literally couldn’t live without my music. I felt a huge connection with Colbie on this level and often related to her feelings throughout the book. It really grabbed my attention and had me sucked into her journey from beginning to end. I wish there were more stars to give this novel but five is the most available so a huge FIVE star rating I will give it! I can’t thank Lori Thomas Harrington enough for writing this heart wrenching and connectable story. I will be sure to check out more of her works in the future as I am sure anyone who reads and connects to this story will want to as well. Oh, and bonus it has a playlist in the novel to follow along too. Some new favorites have been discovered here as well! Who doesn’t love a novel with an accompanying playlist?
“It’s not what you look at, love. It’s what you see. I am always with you. Just look and you will find me all around. Sometimes love lasts a lifetime, and sometimes it has to leave for reasons we don’t understand. Although we will not be together now, our love will remain forever. Live and love you life to the fullest, my love. I’ll always, always love you. I will see you again someday, love.”
“Whether we realized it or not, we all had the same heart- Michael’s heart.”

Michael’s Heart by Lori Thomas Harrington is a phenomenally good story. It is such a beautiful, emotional, and moving story that left me a blubbering wreck. It broke me and then pieced me back together again. I read it a week ago and I have tears in my eyes again now as I write this review, thinking about it how much it touched me. It is a story that will stay with me for a very long time, and one I will go back and read many times over the years. I am having trouble doing this book the justice it deserves- and I don’t want to spoil it by giving too much away. I highly recommend diving in blind and let the story wash over you- you really won’t regret it…. As with Ms. Thomas Harrington’s previous book “The Point”- this is definitely one of those stories that you don’t expect to have such a connection to, or one that would have such a powerful effect on your emotions, but it will definitely leave its mark on you. I will warn you though before you start reading, to make sure you have LOTS of tissues on hand, because you WILL need them.
Ms. Thomas Harrington is an exceptional storyteller whose work I will always be happy to read. I wonder what she has in store for us next?
Thank You Ms. Thomas Harrington!
Michael’s Heart by Lori Thomas Harrington
I cannot tell you how emotional this story is. This story grabs ahold of you and makes you feel as though you are living it along with the characters. The author did and amazing job writing this beautiful story of love, life, and hope. I was completely enthralled in this story from the start and couldn’t put it down till I finished and then I was so sad that it was over. I think the music element to this story made it that much stronger and romantic!!! I loved getting to know Colbie and the other characters in this story, they felt so real. This story touched my heart and made me cry, and experience so many more emotions throughout the entire story. All those elements are what makes this an excellent story for me. I can’t find words to really portray how good of a book this truly is. I highly recommend this book. I will definitely be reading more books by this author!!
I loved reading this book. I would definitely love to keep rereading it. It is a captivating book that anyone could enjoy. I really enjoyed reading it. I would highly recommend this book.

5-Stars
Michael’s Heart by Lori Thomas Harrington was an emotional and romantic read. I loved following Colbie and literally cried following her short time in the between. Michael was wonderful. I loved the amazing character development and scenery in this novel. The story easily flowed and kept my attention. At no point was I bored with this story and literally could not put it down. It was definitely an emotional rollercoaster of a read but I highly recommend it.
Emotional Mess is what I was after reading this book. Michael’s Heart by Lori Thomas Harrington was a little different than my normal romances but the great way to see how music impacts some peoples life. But I was stuck to my kindle what to know what was going to happen to Colbie. The mother/daughter relationship between Colbie and Lyric was an amazing part of the story; reminds me too much of my own relationship with my mother. This quote “It’s not what you look at, it’s what you see” is something that will stay with me. Highly recommend this story to every woman who loves to read.

5 Star!!!!!
Another great new author and book. I was really hooked from the first page. I found that the author had quite a unique concept for the story. I found myself getting lost in the story. The author has a way of bringing the supernatural into the real life that blends the story and really creates it.
I really found Colbie’s character to be endearing and I found myself having a bit of a tug at my heartstrings as the story unfolded. I found that her whole life was shaped by her new zest for life. Her goal to really e is just a great story line. I really enjoyed this book and I found that the author draws you in and keeps you hooked. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
Michael’s Heart grabbed my attention from the synopsis. As an amateur musician, I’ve always associated music with emotion and often judge a piece on what emotions and how intense those emotions are. While Colbie, Lyric, and other characters are all important, it seemed like there were too many aspects to the plot right off the bat. You’ve got the competition, the song with missing lyrics, and Colbie’s accident all within the first chapter. As you read on, things don’t get crazy tangled or too much more complicated but the structuring put me off.
That being said, I enjoyed Colbie’s desperate search for what holds her soul together while also threatening to tear her apart at the seams. If you get confused at the beginning, don’t give up. The wrap up is worth it.
Michael’s Heart by Lori Thomas Harrington is an emotional contemporary romance read. The author uses music perfectly to tell Colbie’s traumatic yet hopeful story and share her life with us. I really liked this read and have already recommended it to a friend!
This is one of those ‘journey’ books. We follow Colbie through so many significant events in her life that you’re really able to connect with her. After a tragic accident leaves her fighting for her life, Colbie learns that there is more to death than so many people believe. While I know many people fell for Michael as soon as we are introduced to him, I’ll admit it took me a little longer; he just seemed too perfect! Their instant connection was fun to read and when Colbie was miraculously brought back to the real world, I could feel her pain at losing Michael so quickly. So when she meets Will and his daughter, things get complicated. And oh man, did I love this! This is not you typical romance read and I think that’s what made it so refreshing and addictive. I ended up reading this in one sitting, as I just couldn’t bear to leave Colbie and her struggles alone!
Music plays a huge part in this story. If that’s your kind of thing, this is a must read. I love a music-based romance, but this exceeded all my expectations. Colbie is linked to music so deeply and this connection is really what drives this book. There is so much emotion packed into such a short read that you need to be prepared for some ups and downs. When the truth is finally realised at the end of the book prepare yourself; I was a real mix of emotions! I loved the author’s writing style and will definitely be looking at more of her work. If you like your romance with added music and hope, this is for you!
I give Michael’s Heart by Lori Thomas Harrington, 4 stars.
Music is Colbie’s life. She feels so much from it. Besides her daughter, it is the love of her life. But she still feels like a part of her is missing. Then her heart stops after a tragic accident and she meets the man she never realized she needed. She wants to stay with him, but he tells her she has much more to do, she has to go back. Can she thrive with her music and family and friends or is she just waiting for the end?
This was an interesting story. It is very moving, you may be teary-eyed at least a few times. It is also very well written. It is obvious the author poured her heart into this story. You will definitely see things differently once reading this. There is usually a reason people act as they do. You may even learn something you never knew. Colbie is a very strong lead character. She has had much happen to her, but she has survived. As much as I like Colbie, I would love to see more of the other characters that interested me so much in a possible series.
If you like moving books about life and love, this book is for you! But don’t forget the tissues!
Michael’s Heart is an emotional story. You are going to cry at least once so have the tissues nearby. There isn’t too much to say regarding story line or it will ruin the outcome for you. I will say that the pertinent characters are memorable and are drawn together by the common thread of music as a soul language. I wasn’t really sure what to feel when I finished the book. Part of me recognizes the bright part of the ending, but it has an overtone of sadness as well. I suppose that makes the story more like real life when it comes down to it. Regardless, if you are in the mood to feel a myriad of emotions in a short period of time, check out this story.
Michael’s Heart by Lori Thomas Harrington is a beautifully written story that had me hooked from chapter one until the end. Colbie is compassionate, strong, and very smart. One thing that Colbie always loved was music and when her heart stopped on the operating table she entered a new world. Colbie meets Michael. Here she hears the music loud and clear. When she awakened in the recovery room, she needs to gain her life back and once again her the music that always filled her.
This book was beautiful and grabbed at my heart strings. I felt like I could close my eyes and see two characters that will stay inside my heart for a long time. The author has given us a simply beautiful, emotional, journey about life and love. I give this book 5 stars and highly recommend this book!
Michael’s Heart by Lori Thomas Harrington is a romance for the ages. Colbie is an amazing character who goes through some life-changing events. Will she still hear the music in her heart? I was taken in by her story and didn’t want to put this down. I was really blown away by the amount of attention and detail the author put into this story and think many will enjoy and appreciate the work she has done. What has come out of it is a beautiful story which shows the challenges that can be thrown at us and how Colbie overcomes her fears and insecurities to find her happy. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
