If madness has a name…it’s hers. She is an artist seeking solace. He is a serial killer seeking vengeance. She doesn’t remember. He remembers it all.She is broken. He is obsessed. She wants truth. He wants revenge. One of them is guilty. One of them is innocent. Both of them want to win.And for that one of them has to lose.Warning: Dark Romance
What an excellent way to start off the 2019 reading year. I loved everything about this book (not a huge surprise as I really enjoyed the other two books I have read by this author as well). The writing was fantastic. It was told in a dual POV format with a lot of back-and-forth time jumps (something I usually hate but worked very well in this instance). The plot was completely enthralling and held my interest throughout. I didn’t feel like this story was as dark as the previous two I have read in this “series.” Last it was all wrapped up in a very satisfying ending.
Both the main characters were very likable, and when all the truths come to light my heart broke for all the pain and wasted years. The hero wasn’t a manwhore. The heroine was a virgin (and 17 when these two first meet). There is no OW drama. There is OM drama in the form of a “baddie.” The sex scenes were suitably hot. It also had a great cast of secondary characters. A mixture of old (from previous books) and new faces. I SOOOO want Arson’s book ASAP (I will beg)! (lol) I had one TEENSY issue and I am not sure if it is because I have an ARC copy (hence it still needed to be edited) or what, but the Olivia/Donavon/Tom/Eve situation confused me.
All in all, this was a fantastic read, and I can’t wait to get my hands on Jaxon’s book (even if I wish it were Arson’s first (lol).
4.5 Stars
I adore this series so much and couldn’t wait to get started on this one.
As usual, this cleverly amps up the tension from page one leaving me with an atmosphere of mystique and an almost latent sense of menace.
This plays out almost like a puzzle unfolding where we are taken on a journey through flashbacks and also real time.
I was agog with fascination and couldn’t put this down: aboard that train till the bitter end: despite the ominous feeling of dread I had deep down in my stomach I couldn’t disembark from this I was just so invested and immersed within the powerful narrative.
Oh, what a tangled web we weave and this particular author does this so well.
When we eventually arrive at the inevitable conclusion I was so heartbroken and destroyed at the unnecessary pain and tormented these two individuals had been subjected to along the way: so tragic.
We are also reintroduced to past characters so that was nice but this totally can be read as a standalone no issues at all.
This would have been a full sweep but I was slightly confused about the Olivia/Eve/Don/Tom and why the names had been changed: it bugged me slightly as there was no explanation to clarify why this was.
Despite that one bug-bear, I adored the rest of this so much.
I really can’t recommend this series enough: Each book is a fantastic rollercoaster of a journey that I devour in one entire sitting: says it all really.
I voluntary reviewed an Arc of Micaden’s Madness.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

This was my first book by V.F. Mason. I had no idea what to expect but what I got was a whole lot more than I would have initially thought! I loved the suspense, the mystery, the unexpected twist or two I DID NOT see coming! I was shocked and literally had to stop reading so my brain could catch up! This was an amazing story full of ups and downs, twists and turns, villains and heroes, a strong heroine and a cast of characters I’m now dying to read about!
V.F. Mason wove a web made up of tangled lies, betrayal and first love. I adored the writing and the author’s ability to keep me pinned to the pages throughout the story.
Micaden and Emerald broke my heart with their past situations. This was a truly dark but wonderful story. A tale of revenge, crime and overcoming a horrible past. I didn’t want the story to end.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving a review.
4.5 mind blown stars!! This author always gets in my head. I love it!!!
This book references people from previous books though it can be read as a stand alone.
“She’s mine.
Mine to hurt, punish, and kill.
Once upon a time, I was ready to give her my whole world. Only for her to burn it to ashes while she trampled over them….”
This book pulled me in page one. My mind was rocked like 50 times in this book. I wasn’t sure about ANY of it, like do I like these people do I not? Don’t worry she (the author) will lead you to the answers. I read Lachlan’s Protege so I knew how this author got down. But damn did she get me with this one. I loved the twists and the turns.
I love that I love some really fucked up people in these books. Micaden drove me ape shit. I wanted to hit him, I wanted to cry for him and I wanted to take down the world for him. Micaden and Emerald went through the worst of the worst. Hell and back again to do it all over. I lost hope. But damn if they didn’t bring me right back with them every single time.
And can I pleeeeasse get closer to Arson. He is driving me nuts. I want to smack him but then I want him!!! I can’t wait for his book.
This book is dark, sexy, crazy, exciting, mysterious, heart breaking, sad, and damn good. This is not one you want to miss.
**I received this book as an ARC and in return gave my honest review**
There is a very thin line between love and hate! Sometimes the two intertwine until you’re not sure which is which. V. F. Mason has given us another thrilling dark read that held me captive from beginning to end. I loved the story within a story! Emerald and Brochan were a perfect couple. From their very first encounter the chemistry was obvious. Watching their love story unfold was heart-warming. I loved the story within a story! The way the author went back and forth between past and present, unknown memories and reality was both riveting and consuming. Micaden and Emerald were a perfect couple. From their very first encounter the chemistry was obvious. Watching their love story unfold was terrifying knowing there was an underlying motive. This was another great dark romance by this author that was packed with edge-of-your-seat mayhem and heart-wrenching romance. The twist was both jaw dropping and mind blowing. I truly enjoyed getting to see some old favorites. Their bond has nothing to do with friendship. It’s so much deeper then that and I can’t wait for the next book.
I just finished this book and it makes me want to pick it up all over again, start from the beginning to go through everything that happened again. I loved the rollercoaster ride of Emerald and Mccaden. Two people so different but alike at the same time. It’s as if they were two pieces of the same puzzle. Just waiting to be put together. There was very little I did not like. Things such as the ‘bad guy’ in this story. You get confused as to who that might be until the end. But there is little to no back story to him. When did they meet? Why was he so obsessed? All in all this was a fantastic read. One I will be coming back to over and over again. – By Vanessa
VF Mason is one of my newest favorite authors! I am so in love with these crazy, twisted, amazing stories! I am not always a fan of darker stories, but man, these are amazing books! Micaden’s Madness is a twisty tale that sucks you in a never lets you go! I had the biggest book hangover from Emerald and Micaden’s story! FIVE STARS!!
It was impossible not to get caught up in this intriguing read that gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “star-crossed lovers.” Like a puzzle I just couldn’t wait to reveal this story dropped little hints along the way that kept me hooked. The unexpected twists and turns this book took both squeezed my heart and kept me on the edge of my seat. Micaden is a an amazingly complex character I was torn between loving and hating. Emerald was broken and lost yet I was consumed by her story. Full of mystery, angst, suspense and betrayal Micaden’s Madness was a shocking, intense and riveting read that kept me guessing until the last page.
My first book by V.F.Mason and I am addicted! What an amazing and mindblowing story. I was hypnotized by the psychological thriller mixed with unrequited love. The story gripped my mind completely from the first page and I could not stop reading for once!
The story is full of surprises in every chapter. So it is difficult to tell you about the plot as it may spoil the story. Emerald has travelled to an island to write a story playing in her mind simce she lost all memory after an accident. But strange things start happening once she reaches there. Everything seems familiar yet distant. And she meets Micaden. The owner of the resort she is staying in. He shakes her mind due to some unknown reasons from the first chance encounter they had. But why? Is this island related to Emerald’s lost memory? Who is this brooding and devilishly attractive Micaden? What will happen when the demons of a tragic love story come back to haunt the present?
The story is so beautifully written. This is a dark, twisted, tragic and devastating love story. The souls are tortured and changed forever by the unfairness of their lives. But there is still hope in the darkest corners. I am in love with the poetic writing of the author. This love story was about the light of romance and darkness of reality. And the author wrote both wonderfully. My heart was literally crying for the star crossed lovers. The emotions were honest, raw and real. If you love dark and passionate romance, Micaden’s Madness is a must read for you!
(Reviewed an early copy voluntarily)
First I want to say that this book is effed up! I mean totally effed up with some serious asre TRIGGERS!!!!!!! I know it is a dark romance but this goes way beyond that. I mean I almost stopped reading it a few times. Micaden was a total douche without taking the time to know the truth of what really happened to him and why it happened to him. I understand he went to prison for something he didn’t do but to take all his rage and anger out on someone who had no clue what was going on is wrong just plain and simple wrong. This book had me so pissed off at times I just couldn’t think straight but then V.F. would throw in some sweet things and it made me keep reading because I needed to see what was going to happen next.
Emerald poor Emerald she has no idea what has happened to her but she knows that something happened. She knows she feels something for Micaden and she loves being intimate with him even though he is rough and sometimes brutal. She still cares for him. While she is working out her memory she has flashbacks that could be very dangerous for her and Micaden.
This is an effed up read but one that grabs you and keeps you reading until the end because you need to know what happens to Emerald and Micaden.
If you are looking for a second chance, revenge filled story then this book is for you. This author always has the ability to make me question what I like was going to happen. Micaden and Emerald’s story was no different. It was simply beautiful and kept me high on my toes waiting to see where it would go. Can’t give to many details because the twists need to be kept secret until the book informs you. I was very sad when it ended. I wanted to live in the heads of these characters.
There are going to be times when you hate the hero but I promise you, while it’s not all sunshine and rainbows these characters do get the HEA they deserve.
This book does have some dark tones to it so please keep that in mind if you chose to read it. I can’t wait to see what this author gives me next. 4 stars #2OCCJD

Are they memories, or thoughts begging to be written down in the form of a story?
The Girl in the sea doesn’t know or remember him, of that he is certain. Strange and curious.
He knows her, he hates her and what comes next won’t be pretty.
Emerald so lost, and broken. Half a life, half a story.. fragmented and unable to see what’s right in front of her.
Brochan always there, no matter how deep he is hidden. His promise sealed in his heart.
oh my… what a mesmerising read. The suspence, the angst, the love, hate and violence heavenly!
Each chapter left me gasping for more, needing to know her, him and them.
The passion in them both was extrodinary, so monumental and colossal.
The beauty of this book lies in both the darkness and the light. The wet and the dry, the flight and the fall.
My heart feels so full. The hunger sated, for both pain and pleasure, life and death.
No one writes like V.F Mason does. She’s unrivalled in her darkness.
I know when U read a book by V.F. Mason, I better block time out of my day because once I start her books I can never put them down! I love this book so hard! The adrenaline rush I get from these books are epic as are the stories told. Emerald and Brachen/Micaden are truly star crossed lovers. All the twists and turns in this book will keep you guessing until the very end.
Woooooow. What a whirlwind of emotions!! Micaden’s Madness is a story of inspiration. A story of strength, and a story of pure love.
They say that you have one true love. Do you believe in that? Do you believe that no matter what life brings, you will always find that calm with your perfect someone? Through the most trivial of times, through the storm of the century, will you always come back to one another? To your little piece of heaven? I believe in it. I believe in true love. I also believe that Micaden’s Madness is one of the best love stories that I have ever read. Such depth. Such heartache. Such happiness. It seems odd to say happiness after heartache, although you have to whether the storm to see the silver lining. Take your chance of V.F. Mason and add Micaden’s Madness to your most treasured reads. This one will definitely be added to my most beloved paperbacks that align my shelves. Happy reading!!
I don’t even know where to start this book was twisted and hot while keeping the reader guessing I can’t wait to see what this author comes out with next
Micaden’s Madness was such an interesting tale. The tale seemed to be more suspense than dark romance. The dark moments were definitely there but the elements of suspense took over most of the book. The flashbacks that both characters, Micaden and Emerald, made everything come full circle. If you have read other books by this author, you might see past characters. I loved those moments were Lachlan and a few others made appearances. The loyalty, which these men had for each other, was absolutely amazing.
Micaden is a serial killer who is hell bent on getting revenge on the woman who ruined his life and everyone else along the way who turned it upside down.
Emerald is a teacher who wants to write the story in her head but can’t remember events of the past after an accident has left her with blank spaces.
When Emerald arrives on the island where the story in her mind takes place she is focused on writing but she has no idea why Micaden hates her from the moment he meets her or why people on the island seem to know her.
Will Emerald be able to figure out her own past before it’s too late?
This was such a good book that had me gripped from beginning to end. I had certain things figured out right from the beginning but I couldn’t wait to see why everything had happened and how.
I thought Emerald was a great character right from the beginning and I put things together pretty fast about her story but I was super curious on how she lost her memory and everything that had happened to her. Emerald had obviously been through so much and I was crossing my fingers she would get her memory back.
Micaden was so interesting as you know he is a killer but have no clue on why he hates Emerald so much at the beginning but as the book goes on and you put the pieces together things make so much more sense. I found it so sad as the book went on and we learn how many other people were involved in things.
As the story goes on you learn so many things and I was shocked at all of the twists and turns that were happening! The book keeps you at the edge of your seat wanting more and more! You completely understand why Micaden hates Emerald so much but then you also learn her side which knows nothing!
Some of the twists completely blew my mind and I loved them! I was shocked at the end with what happened on the boat and then the aftermath of that was awesome!!
The very end of the book was great and I hope we get more from these characters!
Micaden’s Madness is the third book in the series. The books can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the first two, because they were also fantastic.
V.F Mason has way of pleasing my dark little heart with her psychological thrillers. She writes Dark Romance like a boss, her writing is impeccable.
This book contains violence and gang rape which maybe a trigger for some.
This book will have you on the edge of your seat, I devoured this book in one sitting, I just couldn’t put it down.
Micaden and Emerald’s chemistry is of the charts, they ooze sex appeal. This book is written in dual POV’s, the book flows perfectly. If I could rate this book any higher I would.
