“An exciting new voice in hard-boiled detective noir thrillers from newcomer John D. Patten.”Titus came to Miami to kill a man. Plain and simple. Fresh off a prison stint for a crime he didn’t commit and out for blood. But when a wealthy socialite begs Titus to track down her missing daughter, he dives head first into a seedy Miami underworld of lowlife thugs, celebrity wannabes, and women as … lowlife thugs, celebrity wannabes, and women as beautiful as they are deadly. Titus soon finds himself up against an organized crime boss, a crooked politician, and a hard-nosed Miami detective. Nobody, it seems, wants the girl found, but Titus doesn’t scare easy. Armed with two fists and razor-sharp wit, Titus unravels a mystery deeper, darker, and more twisted than a simple missing girl.
“John Patten is this generation’s John D. MacDonald. And Titus is the new Travis McGee!”
“Don’t miss this debut detective thriller!”
*Miami Burn is the first book in the wildly popular Titus Florida Crime Thriller Series.*

Well written about all the kooks in Miami, kept a good plot going. Fun Read!
Titus, the ex cop, ex PI who is doing a little bartending with detecting on the side, is just a fun character, Smart, Funny, very physical, and unflappable. I read the three books that are available and would definitely read more in the future. Good writing style, Crisp dialogue. Solid mysteries.
Excellent book -easy reading and suspenseful-kept my interest
A well-written book that grabbed my attention and held it until the final page. I’m looking forward to reading more about Titus!
Read all 3 in the series Miami Burn, Chill and Storm. Easy read and very entertaining. Makes you want more and more. Can’t wait for book 4.
This review is for the first three Titus Florida Crime Series thrillers (I haven’t read the fourth one yet, but it’s on my list). Ex-cop Titus is another great neo-noir hardboiled detective, and you just can’t have too many! This is hardcore hardboiled, and Titus finds constantly finds himself in the muck, fearing equally for his life and the soul of who he is and wants to be. As the series opens, he comes to town intending to murder a man, and he can never quite escape the slippery slope he finds himself on. Top-level entry into the genre!
Really good book. Couldn’t put it down.
Twists and turns….kept me engaged
This book serves as a great start to the Titus Miami thrillers.
Titus comes to Miami to kill someone, ends up on a different path, solves a mystery, and meets a few interesting characters along the way.
Fans of Robert B. Parker and John D. MacDonald will see those masters’ influence in Patten’s writing.
Really enjoyed reading this book ..
Excellent
I purchased the second book in the series after reading this one. Excellent characters an a very interesting plot. This book had lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing. Different from most mysteries I read and will keep reading this author.
Great mystery and a page turner. With Titus, what’s not to love! The author weaves an awesome story with great characters. Well worth the read.
If you like Parker and Crais this is a good one for you.
Interesting main character with a group of others that flow into the story while he is solving the mystery that he has been lured into.
Once you get into the story you will not want to put this one down. As the seedy group of people mingle into and out of the story.
gritty.
Holds your interest
Good story with a hard to figure out ending.
In the John D. McDonald vein; a great read and adventure.
