“An exciting new voice in hard-boiled detective noir thrillers from newcomer John D. Patten.”Titus came to Miami to kill a man. Plain and simple. Fresh off a prison stint for a crime he didn’t commit and out for blood. But when a wealthy socialite begs Titus to track down her missing daughter, he dives head first into a seedy Miami underworld of lowlife thugs, celebrity wannabes, and women as … lowlife thugs, celebrity wannabes, and women as beautiful as they are deadly. Titus soon finds himself up against an organized crime boss, a crooked politician, and a hard-nosed Miami detective. Nobody, it seems, wants the girl found, but Titus doesn’t scare easy. Armed with two fists and razor-sharp wit, Titus unravels a mystery deeper, darker, and more twisted than a simple missing girl.
“John Patten is this generation’s John D. MacDonald. And Titus is the new Travis McGee!”
“Don’t miss this debut detective thriller!”
*Miami Burn is the first book in the wildly popular Titus Florida Crime Thriller Series.*

I loved this debut novel from author John D Patten. His Titus character is a hoot, with a wry sense of humor and a stubborn streak that drives him to solve even the most impossible cases. The twists and turns and the wonderful details made me feel like I was right there, in the middle of the action on a steamy Miami day. If you enjoy mysteries and thrillers, especially the older hard-boiled detective kind, you’ll love this modern take on the genre.
Immediately started the second book in the series after reading this one.
I loved it.
I absolutely loved this book! The ending was so unpredictable. I can’t wait to read another in this series.
Great characters; fast-moving plot.
First time reading this author. Really enjoyed plot, full of action and couldn’t wait to keep reading whenever I had to put down the book. Lots of action and by then of book, I really liked the character, Titus.
just a totally fun fabulous read!! love the full characters.
Definitely would read more books by this author. Really liked the characters.
Good beginning. Action-thriller, can-do hero, but a good plot line and sub-plot. Keeps moving. Great entertainment.
I really like John Patten’s writing and storytelling! I can easily immerse myself in Titus’ universe and 3-D characters, and clearly picture the scenes as I read them. It’s very clear to me that Patten is an avid reader himself, and must’ve had tremendous mentors to put this high-caliber story out.
The story never lost my attention (and I have a short attention span!). Now I want to read other books in the series ASAP.
I liked it
Really liked it, reading next in series .
It’s mayhem…with a soft streak! Finally a serious author with a funny bone!
Good mystery that looks into the unsavory sex-trafficking/exploitation issues.
A very interesting read. Leaves you wanting to read more of the authors books. I highly recommend
Looking to go to the next one.
I couldn’t get past a quarter of the book. It’s very predictable.
Written in first person with a good sense of self effacing humor.
Good thriller
