Outstanding! I’m gutted by this story.
An actor lost in his grief and his wife attempting to navigate the fallout, this book had it all. Secrets shared, love tested, full immersion into a role …add in the exceptional writing and you have a fantastic book. I was completely hooked in and was desperate for all the details. I wasn’t disappointed. I’m happy to report that this is a standalone HEA. Moreover, this epilogue was so incredibly humbling; I cried. Perfect.
Mesmerizing seamless story of love and friendship, human interaction at its best. Kate Stewart is a one click author for me and Method did not disappoint.
I discovered Kate Stewart last year with Anything But Minor. Kate is one of those authors that blows your mind with a sentence. You don’t know what hits you when all of the sudden your crying and you need to stop and take a breather. That’s how good Stewart is. That’s how intense and emotional her books are. Her dialogues are intelligent and not for the faint at heart. The Brave Line is my favorite book of hers, but after reading Method I think all bets are off and nothing will top this brilliant and beautiful book. This is THE book to read in 2019. The story of Mila and Lucas is one of love, of marriage, of coping with loss, and how we must endure through it all to survive and keep on living. Method is a flawless masterpiece that is both grueling and intense, just like the definition of its title.
There’s tears streaming down my face, an unending river of emotions that my heart cant contain anymore. Kate takes a blunt spoon and gouges out your soul. Brilliantly written, poignantly factual & dreadfully honest, it will shake you to your core. Make you analyze your own life, put your priorities into perspective and hopefully rearrange your wants & needs in the correct order.
Undoubtedly THE BEST BOOK OF THIS YEAR !!!
And it’s only a quarter in!
“There are four questions of value in life…What is sacred?
Of what is the spirit made?
What is worth living for, and what is worth dying for?
The answer to each is the same. Only love.”
This story has abundance of love. All consuming, enveloping, embracing love and ultimately overwhelming grief when you lose that kind of love. It shall be cruel to just call it a romance, it’s a life lesson about existencial crisis. A guide to marriage and the sacrifices and trust that goes in to keep it working. A key to fighting your demons and conquering them.
There are so many threads running in this one book, it’s difficult to focus on any one relationship or one dynamic. My eyes were spoilt for choice as they scanned over so many vibrant colours of human personality. Kate has, simply put- surpassed herself. She broke my heart in Drive and pathetically managed to stitch it back up after incessant bleeding of my tears, but I have no hesitation in saying, she has brought me to my knees as a reader with Method.
I genuflected ON THE PAGES, trying to lick and suck every word, to drink all of Lucas Walker and Mila’s tears. All this while Kate was chopping my knees off. I finished and was so lifeless with grief and misery, it took me an entire day to collect my thoughts and try to put in words what I was feeling.
I could say this is a love story between an unlikely pairing of a Hollywood super star and a sommelier. So far apart in status and stature, yet they fit together perfectly like hand and glove.
Our courtship is a poor man’s fairy tale and a little cliché but it’s still my favorite. I was the nobody one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors chose. The scrutiny cost me a little sanity, but he was worth it. At times, I’m still an ant beneath a magnifying glass.
Or I can spotlight another story of love between two brothers, Blake west and Lucas.
This too has equal amounts of loyalty & kinship, commitment and camaraderie.
But there’s a 4th character at play that ruins everything.
The Method
We’re living in a land of fiction, and it’s up to me to decipher the truths from the lies.
It’s an entity that demands to be let out. Once it tears up the skin and jumps out it starts to take it’s own form, develops it’s own mind and soon consumes and actor. Cloaks his personality and like a terminator, acts on its own independently.
The story has taken it’s heavy toll on me tbh, I was stunned and stupefied at first, which soon turned to disbelief and astonishment. What appears to be jumping between past, 3 months & present timeline, is actually a jump between reality and illusion which is masterfully crafted by Kate. It’s a factual story about uselessness of your wants which sacrifices your needs at the altar.
“I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it’s not the answer.”
—Jim Carrey
The characters are so true to life and methodically put together, it’s like Kate has drawn their growth from her own personal experiences. Which makes this story even more scarier. How can a person be this close to the edge of the cliff and not leap!!!
The thought process behind conceptualization is scary and I’m forced to imagine what it has done to Kate herself while plotting this story. I wanted to hug Mila & Lucas, weep for Blake, sob for Amanda and thank Maiwenn.
I’m shaken, I’m unnerved and I have totally lost my bearings after I closed the book.
It was exactly what I’d asked for— risky , consuming, a whirlwind, and still, I was terrified to embrace it. But there’s a fine line between being responsible and being predictable. So I leap.
What a flight
What a performance
What a journey
I’m humbled, starstruck and amazed by your talent Kate
6 brightest of the stars !!
Amazing. What an incredible story! Emotional, heartwrenching, moving. Method is quite possibly my favorite book by Kate Stewart, taking the place of The Ocean Between Us.
This story deals with mental illness, suicide and addiction.
My jaw is hanging open. Just finished this beautiful book and am speechless. Once again, this author has nailed it! A story that is so unlike any other books out there. Sucking you in from the get go and pulling out an emotional journey along the way.
Absolutely loved Lucas and Mila’s story. This is a hard story to read at times. Touching on addiction, suicide, mental illness it’s a wakeup call to remember that you are never alone. Someone is always available to listen, no matter what.
It started off so beautifully the sommelier Mila and the movie star Lucas.
Life happens and the beautiful turns ugly.
Can these two prove that marriages in Hollywood do survive?
Pick this book up and read it! That’s all I am going to say. This is a Must Read Story.

If I thought that Drive was a punch to the heart, then I highly underestimated this author. Method was even worse in such a good way!
Just like this author’s previous works, this book is angst personified. The tension between Mila and Lucas could be felt through the pages as if it were on fire. There were so many levels of it as well. The tension was palpable.
This book is so much more than a romance. It deals with so many things that will affect you on a big level. This novel takes a good, deep look at marriage, friendship, grief and many other things. It’s such a poignant read, and it definitely hit me hard. I also loved the characters in the novel, and I loved their transition from then to now. It was very eye opening – added to the book a lot more.
The idea of this novel was original. I don’t usually read books where the couple were already married, and I completely loved the idea. It’s not something I’ve given thought to, but I’ll be keeping my eyes out for something like this in the future.
I cannot stress how hard this book hit me. It’s as if Kate Stewart brought up every emotion I had in my body and I couldn’t control it. There are some very tough, emotional scenes in the book that makes your heart cry in agony, and it feels as if you’re in agonising pain not being to help the characters in the novel. And that ending hit me the hardest. Left me with my body in numbness. It was that powerful. This is why you should never underestimate the power of an author’s words. They could either make you or break you -good or bad is up to you. And this book is clear why you should NEVER underestimate this author. This book is her best yet, and Drive was tough competition.
If you’re planning on reading Method, go in with all your heart and a box of tissues. Like I’ve said before, this book is so much more than romance; it is everything.
Do not think for a minute that this is just another contemporary romance. Kate Stewart has brilliantly weaved a contentious storyline highlighting the ongoing impact of mental health and trauma. The narrative is moving and poignant as Stewart leads the reader through this twisted, emotionally intense plot. Her characters are engrossing and unique, drawing raw emotion with every flip of the page. Lucas and Mila are beautiful, broken, raw, and honest. Their chemistry is felt radiating off the page. Fantastic Read. 5 stars. Bravo to Kate Stewart for bringing some much needed attention to a rising crisis.
Method sucked me in from the very first page. What Kate did with this story blew me away. I couldn’t put it down because I was so anxious to get to the bottom of what was happening. Not all love stories are easy, and I love that Kate isn’t afraid to write stories that mess with emotions and leave heads spinning. Kudos to her for being different- I LOVE IT. I look forward to her books because I know she’s going to take me on a wild ride. As a reader I appreciate this more than I can say. I highly recommend this
Wow! Just wow! I should have known I was in for a mind-blowing ride when the prologue tore me apart and the story was only just beginning. I’ll try to keep this as spoiler free as possible because this story just can’t be read any other way.
Lucas and Mila Walker are complex characters. Their chemistry exudes from the pages. And there is definitely some hot and heavy scenes, but that’s not what draws me in and keeps me there. It’s who they are as individuals and as a couple that had me on edge. I’m easily swept up into their lives. Kate Stewart takes me somewhere I’m not comfortable being yet I allow it. I hesitate just slightly then dive in. She makes my heart race. I feel like I’m in a perpetual state of angst. And then, finally, some relief. Sweet nirvana.
Easy transitions between past and present, I’m taken in and engrossed with the building of their relationship and those that were along for the ride. I’m no doubt put through the paces. Because not only is this a love story, it’s interlaced with the romanticized version of Hollywood and the depths one will go to for love and family. It’s a story within a story. It’s beyond intriguing. It’s fascinating, moving, and so much more.
Once again, Kate Stewart has written a story that is so compelling and mesmerizing, that you can’t help but be addicted to it. Method is such a beautifully crafted story – flowing so effortlessly between the past and the present to give us an incredible tale of love, friendship, and loss…..and all-consuming grief that threatens to destroy one’s life. How far is too far? Once that line is crossed, can you come back from it or will you have lost everything you held dear to your heart?
I truly have never read anything quite like Method before, and I’m not sure I ever will again. The plot and story were so amazingly unique and different, and I know that nobody will ever be able to come close to the magic that Kate created with Lucas and Mila.
Kate Stewart writes exceptional stories. Method outdoes all my expectations. There is no fluff, no flowery words to skim. Every paragraph is integral to the story. She uses flashbacks to weave a complex story of friendships and love, while we live in pain and hurt.
Method is angst through and through. But it is not derived from lies, deception or assumptions. Honesty is a big part of the story.
This is the kind of story that will remain with you for a very long time.
This book was about storytelling. Genuine storytelling. No gratuitous anything. Every page had a purpose and every scene added to their story. It was an exploration of marriage and what a couple can withstand to fight for what they promised each other on their wedding day. It made me bawl my eyes out. It made me LOL and it really made me think. What would I have done in Lucas’s shoes? What I would have done in Mila’s shoes? I was reading it at such a pace because I HAD TO KNOW what was going to happen next – I know I’m going to read it again soon to really savour it. It’s a truly complex story of love, loss and friendship. I cannot recommend it enough.
“It will never be the same. I will never be the same. Never again.” I am broken. This book broke me. I read it in one sitting and I thought I knew what was going to happen, but I was wrong. I was on the edge of my seat from the first page, always expecting some gut wrenching twist to come. Lucas and Mila had a whirlwind courtship and were deeply in love. They had a love that could withstand the test of the Hollywood lifestyle, or so they thought. You see, Lucas was a method actor and he had to leave himself for each new role he played. Sometimes, it’s too much to come back from. These were all of the things I was expecting, but then there were twists and turns that left me reeling. Kate has a way of making me feel like this is happening in my life. All of her books put me “right there” with the characters. Experiencing the joy, agony and heartbreak right along with them. This book is about the evolution of a marriage, grief, heartbreak, devastation, growth, rebuilding and everlasting love. There is not just one relationship in this book, there are many. It’s heavy, it’s beautiful and it hurts. I can’t wait to reread.
Reading it in one sitting and even if I’ve finished it a few hours earlier, I still don’t know what to write.
My feelings are all over the place and I knew this book will leave a mark on me but I couldn’t put it down from the moment I got it on my kindle.
I’ve never been the one to write long reviews and I really don’t know how to give justice to this another amazing book by the author.
I’m wrecked from all the emotions that this book made me feel and although it touches so many delicate aspects of our lives, we need love stories like this to be reminded of what truly means marriage and the sacrifices and hard decisions that one has to take if that love deserves everything from us.
After overcoming all the obstacles and addictions, and when the big picture it’s revealed, what it’s left is our souls and our true feelings and that’s the only thing that matters and worth fighting for with our last breath.
I fell in love with Kate’s stories with The Real. I continue to fall in love with her stories even more with Method. The bright lights of Hollywood take a toll on the artists that are blinded by it.
This story is raw and gritty, it’s also sadness and love. Love above all else, and in many different forms, from love of a spouse to love between friends, both beautiful in their own ways. I enjoyed the flow of this story, the flashbacks to current time, was seamless and really brought the story home for me.
This is Lucas and Mila’s story, but it’s about so much more. I loved Lucas’ nickname for Mila and the story behind it. Their love story is chaotic and flawed but it’s absolutely flawless in it’s honesty.
The struggles that Mila and Lucas go through are heart wrenching and made me cry. It also gave me tears of happiness and joy. You are going to catch all the feels in this story!
Lucas is the consummate actor and artist. He is brilliant in his craft but it comes with a price and this story shows the cost to those who choose to love him.
I loved Lucas’ nickname for Mila and the story behind it.
I was so moved by this story! Kate has a magic to her words that draws the reader into the story and really empathize with her characters. Bravo Ms. Stewart, I tip my blogger hat to you! This story is going to be in the running for my “Best Reads of 2019”!!
I fall more in love with Kate Stewart’s writing with each book she releases. I swear that Method completely blew me away. This book is unlike any book I’ve read to date. You are immediately pulled into the lives of Lucas and Mila. Their life and their love is epic, but not without challenges, and you will find yourself feeling every ounce of love, heartbreak and passion between them. Lucas is a method actor who goes all in to actually become the person he is playing. After a tragedy tears Lucas apart he immerses himself into a role that just might be one he can’t come back from.
Kate Stewart takes you on a journey that shows her sheer brilliance. Method will have you glued to your Kindle completely unaware of the world around you because you are submerged in hers.
If I could give Method more than 5 stars I would!
This book…gah! Where to begin? This has to be Kate Stewart’s best book to date, which speaks volumes considering she has written some pretty phenomenal stories. This story was so original! It is like nothing I have read in the indie world. The journey of Lucas and Mila…the instant connection, the Hollywood romance, the betrayals, the loyalties, it just goes on and on. The best part of this book is you think you know…but you have no idea! The feels game with this one was so strong I’m still reeling. I can binge read book after book with the best of them, but this book is making me pause. I can’t quit thinking about it, I can’t move on just yet. I want the whole world to experience the magic that comes from Kate Stewart’s mind. So, if you only read one book this whole year, this one has to be it!
5 Stars!
It was like nothing I’ve ever read before, and it was fantastic! I was hooked from the very beginning!! Kate is such an amazing writer. You definitely want to read this book!! Trust me!!
5+ MIND BLOWING STARS!! This book deserves all the stars in the world!! Lucus and Mila’s story is mind blowing with all the feels and you can’t put it down.
