THIS.IS.THE.ONE!!
I’ve never read anything like this. It’s a gritty read. Like watching one of those movies where you are trying to figure out what’s really going on. I could totally visualize watching this on the big screen as I was reading it.
It is evident that a lot of preparation went into writing this story and nailed it.
It a story about love, devotion, loss, grief and missed opportunities. A reminder that you never know what life will bring you tomorrow.
Lucas is brilliant. The lengths that he goes to make his move roles authentic are mind-blowing. It gave me a new appreciation for actors. And often, we don’t think about the upheaval this can bring to their family and friends. Mila is a total fierce woman. In awe of her strength and ability to forgive.
The story moves seamlessly through the far past, the near past and the present. I’ve read some stories where it gets messy to be able to keep up with what is going on, but this one was perfection.
Kate Stewart’s latest masterpiece is definitely one of my favorites! It’s unique, a plot that I’ve never read before, and so well written that it’s absolutely fascinating. It covers just about every emotion in existence…jealousy, anxiousness, fear, love, happiness, anger, grief…and so on.
The characters are engaging and believable and I found myself fully immersed in their stories easily. There are a lot of flashbacks, which I’m not typically a big fan of, but it works well in this story. It only covers about a 4 month time-frame, it’s in multiple POV’s and it does bounce around a good bit but it’s laid out well so I didn’t have much effort in following along. Method is definitely another for my favorites shelf!
So uniquely creative… it is a MUST read!!!
Kate Stewart has given us a MIND BLOWING 5+ stars book. This book is so unique and well written, that a review could not possibly do it justice! METHOD is emotional, devastating and angsty, but it will also have you feeling the love, loyalty and passion between Lucas and Mila. This Hollywood couple story about Method actors is unparalleled to any book I have read to date.
This story of how a Method actor has to “transform” from his daily life to the life of his current character is marvelously revealed. Kate has brilliantly written this story in a dual POV and at the same time written the storyline to flow effortlessly to switch back and forth between the past and present. Kate never ceases to amaze me with her writing and METHOD is definitely going to be a book that is unforgettable.
Lucas and Mila’s story is a true eye opener to the lengths that Method actors and their loved ones go thru before, during and after a movie is made. Be prepared to feel their pain, grief, and love as their journey is told. You will be drawn in to this book the minute you begin and be on the edge until the very end. This book is certainly a page turner that really deserves to be on the big screen!!!
One of the best books I’ve read! If you don’t read this then you are truly missing out!
Oh the angst! Kate Stewart is the queen of unique and she absolutely outdid herself this time. This is not a typical Hollywood celebrity glitz and glamour romance- it’s gritty, emotional, dark and intense. I was drawn in immediately. The author handled so many difficult subjects unbelievably well and in such a thought provoking way. I’m completely blown away.
“Okay, Hollywood,” I admit tearfully, “you got the girl. Now what?”
“Now everything,” he promises before his lips crush mine.
I knew going in that Kate Stewart was going to break my heart but I also knew she would show me a light at the end of the tunnel and piece it back together.
Mila had been warned – beware of relationships with actors, they have a shelf life and no one comes out of it unscathed. Mila meets Lucas at Hollywood party and falls under his spell. She knew to steer clear but in matters of the heart the brain always loses the battle it seems.
They have a whirlwind courtship and wed but Lucas is hit with the devastating loss of his best friend and even Mila can’t seem to help him find his way through this tragedy and grief. Mila must fight for their marriage, their love and most of all their well being as these two can not live without the other.
It is truly an emotional ride for the reader!!

The heart rending prologue to Method drew me in and from there I was completely absorbed in, and captivated by, this angsty, unique, hugely emotional story. So well written, I would say it’s this author’s best work to date. The storyline is not a superficial one, it delves deep into its subject matter and the feelings it evoked in me were so intense at times, I was left speechless. This is the tale of a Hollywood marriage unlike any I have read before. It’s so clever and the effect so powerful and intriguing, it’s clear that Ms Stewart invested a lot of time and effort into researching the technique and skill of method acting.
Method is a difficult read at times as the excellent descriptive writing ensured I felt everything Mila in particular, was experiencing. What makes Lucas an accomplished actor, can also make him an inept husband at times and I was not entirely sure how I felt about him initially. A fascinating character, everything he does is with passion, whether it be loving his wife or immersing himself in a role, becoming completely consumed by and focused on the task at hand. After many years together, Mila feels secure in the life they’ve built and the routines they’ve established. However, as she learns, when life throws you a curveball, you can have as many rules and boundaries as you want but they’re not necessarily going to help when communication breaks down. This author did an exceptional job of conveying Mila’s feelings, her confusion and her helplessness when a new role begins to monopolize Lucas’s time and personality. The portrayal of Lucas’s character and how he interpreted his role was so vividly explained it just blew me away. It’s all encompassing and he becomes not just physically but emotionally isolated from her. I certainly felt more compassion for him by the end of the book, whilst at the same time wanting to wrap Mila up in my arms and give her a big hug.
“There’s a fine line between the Method actor and the schizophrenic.”—Nicolas Cage
I’m not going to talk about the intricacies of the plot, you really need to experience those for yourself. Several days after finishing this book, I’m still trying to process it. A very clever storyline, I loved its unique complexity. It’s frustrating and gritty and heartbreaking at times but it’s certainly no ordinary story and not everything is as it seems. It’s a story of love, friendship, sacrifice, dedication and sheer determination. Without a doubt, Ms Stewart put her all into this book and it shows. Method is now on my list of favourite reads ever.
“Method acting: a range of training and rehearsal technique that seek to encourage sincere and emotionally expressive performances… this type of acting can sometimes wreak havoc on health and personal relationships.”
This was fantastic! Like just plain and simply fantastic.
I don’t know how many times I asked my myself… ok now is where the crap is going to happen…. then a twist. And another. And until the end you think you know what’s going on but you don’t. Like not at all.
Lucas has tries all his life to make a name for himself in the acting business along with his best friend Blake. The two couldn’t be more different. Lucas the calm and collected one taking his career so seriously vs Blake who just goes with it and hides behind his grief in plain site. Slowly Lucas is getting better gigs and Blake is in the downhill roll. Until all the drugs and stupid decisions have their relationship strained. Until the day Lucas gets the call that his best friend hung himself in his apartment
Lucas and Mila have the best relationship ever. But the day her husbands best friend dies is the day their relationship will be tested to the max.
It’s an amazing book. I didn’t read the blurb or the teasers before I threw myself into this book. It’s like all the other books that Kate Stewart writes. I know I’ll love them no matter what!! Kate Stewart
Every time I finish reading a Kate Stewart book, I tell myself that it’s my absolute favorite of hers that I’ve read.
This book is no exception.
Wow, just wow. No words to describe the love I have for this complex story. I fell in love with these two from the beginning and man, did they take me on a roller coaster of epic proportions. Fair warning: grab your tissues. Nobody does angst like KS.
Lucas is a love him AND hate him kind of character. He’s such a good man with such a good heart and his positive qualities far outweigh the negative ones. But there will be times you don’t like him, that you despise him and the way he acts. Things have never been easy for him, all all of that reaches a culmination that will break your heart. Be patient with him. He’s beautifully broken and a character you won’t soon forget.
Mila is a rock. I love her fierce independence and strong-willed demeanor. She won’t bow to anyone, least of all her husband. She’s tough, unafraid to speak her mind, and never one to back down from a fight she truly believes in. Is she perfect? No, and there will be times in this story where you won’t like her very much either, at least that was the case with me. Just remember, her negatives are for the greater good.
This story is amazing, and one that will stick with you long after your done reading. I can’t recommend this book enough. This one gets all the stars from me.
I don’t even know where to begin!
Kate Stewart weaves us yet another masterful tale full of intrigue and power play. Method was completely unexpected. Its one of those books that grabs your attention and yanks you into their world. How far would you go to keep the pain at bay so you could move forward? What if moving forward scared you because of what you thought you were leaving behind? You think you know, and you KNOW, but you don’t really know, you know?
Our two main characters are both powerhouses. Lucas is sure of what he wants and voices it, puts it out into the universe so it is destined to happen. Mila is strong and self sufficient. She doesn’t bend on the rules set in place to keep their marriage honest and thriving. Through flashbacks we are able to see the difficulties they faced to meld into each others lives and form what seemed to be an impenetrable bond.
It is impossible to say anymore without going too far into the story and this is definitely one you need to go into with absolutely no expectations. I mean, of course, aside from reading a heart wrenching, almost tragic story with all the feels, from love-dove to resentment to acceptance. It does go back and forth a bit like a Tarantino movie, but I appreciated that because I was able to see all sides to every story. And I love to see the whole picture. Definitely a stand alone you won’t want to miss.
A method to the madness, they say? What if the method IS madness?
This story sucks you right in…just like other Kate Stewart stories. But what I felt set this story apart was how it was captivating, devastating, frustrating, and disjointed. But there was a method to the storytelling. This is far more than just a tale about romance and love. It’s what happens when you fall in love and then you truly discover who you are and who you love.
“Okay, Hollywood,” I admit tearfully, “you got the girl. Now what?”
“Now everything,” he promises before his lip crush mine.
What we don’t always realize or think about is what exactly “everything” entails. Lucas and Mila are so very swoon worthy in their candor, passion, and even their mistakes. That is part of the devastation; you end up feeling so much as you jump through this twisted tale that you’re not sure whose story you’re actually following. Stewart twists up your emotions so deeply that they almost feel lost until she untangles them, one by one, and reminds Mila, Lucas, and us that each endeavor – love, career, family – has a method and requires work. The question becomes can they work through the method – do the work – and come out the other side?
The entire set up of this book from the format of jumping from the past to the present, weaving in different characters and exploring their flaws, and the plot itself is a “method”. Seriously, Stewart could not have picked a better title. Even when you experience these depths of emotions which may want to cause you to toss your kindle…remember there is a method to the madness…even if some of it is madness.
Take the journey, feel the feels, live the method…if you dare.
Top notch effort and writing. You won’t be disappointed for devouring this book!
Method is my second book from Kate Stewart and I am learning that she knows how to write a tumultuous slow burn, and I so enjoy them. Method is a novel about a married couple that fell in love when they least expected it and fell hard for one another. The story is about Mila (a sommelier) and Lucas (an Actor) and how their marriage is affected by an tragic event that sets wheels into motion for Lucas to take on his biggest most challenging role to date.
Kate wrote the book in dual POV; but more so from Mila’s perspective particularly in the latter half of the book. Their story flips back and forth between past and present to tell the tale of how their relationship came to be at the point in is in the present day moment. This was generally clear cut but at times I felt a little lost as to whereabouts I was in the grand scheme of things. The first third of the book also felt a little slow. After this point I was motivated by questions and my need to know what was going on, subtle hints began to be left in the plot that suggested things were not as they appeared.
As the story progressed into the second half of the novel, I felt the pace was more fluid here, my interest established and I felt invested in Mila and Lucas. Enter all the feels in true Kate Stewart fashion and Boom you get smacked upside the head with the events that start occurring within their marriage, Mila has all my respect for how much she fights when things got tough. I don’t want to say too much about the plot points; yet I will say Method played out nothing like what I expected.
So be prepared for a slow burn, emotional angsty tale of a married couple who underneath all the glitz and glamour are just two soul mates trying to survive the storm.
When you pick up a book by Kate Stewart, you know it will be emotional and angst-filled and so worth the read. And yet when I started Method, I was not expecting what I got. It was so all-consuming and a heartfelt story that I devoured. Just devoured in one sitting.
Lucas and Mila are what you would call happily married. Yes, no marriage is perfect, but they seem to be the it couple. Lucas came from almost nothing to be an actor at the top of his game. He is a method actor that sinks into any roles he plays. Mila knows and accepts this, as she loves him deeply. But when tragedy strikes and the role of a lifetime comes his way, Lucas seems more lost than ever before. Is Mila in for the fight of her life?
I have no words to describe how much I loved Method by Kate Stewart. Kate gave us a story we ourselves get lost in. We see the past and present of our couple and see how they ended up where they are now. The journey was in no way easy, but it was a love that was true, unconditional and their connection was undeniable. The character will captivate, and their story will touch you in so many ways. You. A must-read for sure.

Happy reading!
I knew from reading the prologue that I would be hooked. And hooked I was. Method was a book that grabbed me and took me on a journey full of angst, love, romance, heartache, desire, and raw breathless moments.
This story was different and unique. Told in past and present tense and in alternating POV’s, the story started at a low and anguishing point in Lucas and Mila’s life. The palpitations of their heartbreak resonated in my soul and I knew that I would be reading late into the night trying to find the Why, What, and How did this couple get to this point.
Lucas Walker is a Hollywood Star who by happenstance meets his soulmate, Mila, a wine sommelier. They have a great romance and an even better marriage until a tragic event happens. Lucas is deeply troubled by the death of his friend but doesn’t let Mila in on his struggles. The role of a lifetime comes up and combined with his feelings of guilt and pain, it creates a perfect storm and Mila gets thrown in the middle without a life raft. There is pain and passion and intense emotional drama that is mixed with marvelous and troubling memories of the past.
Marriage is not always easy and I appreciated that the story exposed the good, the bad and the ugly. It also delved into how grief, if not processed in a good way can lead to distress and disturbing actions. It is exhaustive at times but in a wonderful and brilliant way.
While this book was intense, it was also fabulously perfect. It had all the range of emotions. I loved that some previous characters from of Kate’s other book made an appearance and I loved their connection to Lucas. I also loved Mila’s mother in the end for her wisdom. But in all, I loved Mila and Luca and Kate’s magnificent storytelling.
Method is such a complex story and I wasn’t sure what the final goal would be. The book moves from past to present and back again continually, if you aren’t paying attention you could miss an important part.
Lucas and Mila’s story has so many layers. They are the golden couple but their romance goes through the ringer from grief and acting.
Method is a really emotional read it’s a real rollercoaster of emotions that will stay with you for a long time. I don’t think I’ve ever read a story quite like this it’s so original! Can’t recommend it enough! Five stars!
O-M-G!! This book, hands down is my top read for 2019!!
I finished this beauty a few days ago but I was so emotional I had to take a minute to process!!!
Intriguing, unique and thought provoking story that was truly mesmerizing.
Flawlessly written with incredibly well develop and thought out characters, the best way to enjoy this book is by going in blindly!
From page one I was swept in as a tragic event sets the stage for this complicated and complex journey that follows the main characters Mila and Lucas. This book is the perfect blend of emotional and passionate, as the good the bad and the ugly is brutally portrayed in this Hollywood story!
Haunting, intense and suspenseful, this book was so heart wrenching there were things going on in the story that had me taking a pause.
The writing was so powerful and bold, Lucas and Mila’s journey was so well executed it took a personal feel, making it more realistic.
Then on a lighter note there’s a certain character named Laura Lee I believe I know!
Despite the heavy and really dark content, this read is a strange mix of love, self discovery and acceptance.
A must read!
Kate Stewart sure knows how to unapologetically grab a reader. This story was unique and refreshing pulling at every emotion. An intensive look inside a Hollywood romance between the heartthrob and the girl next door that captures his heart. Told from alternating, dual first person point of views Method peels away the glamour and glitz of Hollywood from pop culture and gives readers the raw intensity and brilliant beauty of what it means to be a method actor and to be the steady force who supports their craft while building their own.
These characters were magnetic, their connection palpable. I love the choices Kate Stewart made for each of them showing how important they are to her as their creator – from their courtship to their marriage and way beyond. I love that we know they’re already married before we start and going through, essentially, marital rock bottom. Having now read this book and become taken with each of their plights that choice (and many others) seems so honest and natural from this author. The serious issues plaguing these characters and their relationship are so prevalent the light Stewart shines on them proves so important giving voice to the darker, scarier sides of life and how with love, patience, and understanding we can prevail. Conversely, the issues affecting their sense of selves are equally as powerful and important. There’s a reckoning and rising in this book that was painfully beautiful.
My one major issue I took with this is the time jumping. Toggling from present to four months ago when the conflict started then to memories within each of those times frames – I got a little dizzy with it and at times confused on where we were supposed to be. The bouncing made some transitions wonky and the story not as fluid as I think it could potentially be. That could just be me because this didn’t seem to affect many people but I believe it was too much and could have been more smooth had some of that toggling been more natural in the prose.
However, the story took hold from the beginning unwilling to let go allowing the characters to embed themselves in my reading heart. And I thoroughly enjoyed the fresh yet gritty perspective of Hollywood life Kate Stewart developed and romanticized in Method. Once again this author proves her mettle in creating lasting stories with alluring characters within the romance world. Method will electrify you while simultaneously breaking your heart and building you back up.
I’ve found with this authors books that I never know what I’m going to get. The books I’ve read of hers have all been unique but none as much as Method. This book wrecked me. I had no idea how much this book was going to take from me and that is a true testament of how amazing Kate Stewart is at creating a story.
I didn’t start this book and bam! That was it I was hooked like I was expecting. Instead Kate Stewart set the scene, piled on the intrigue and slowly but surely completely immersed me in Mila and Lucas’ epic story. It took me days to read this book, I can’t even begin to imagine the toll it took on the author. The emotions I felt! It was like a hand slowly tightening around my heart, the feelings of helplessness, confusion, the deep, deep love these two characters share, the complete and utter helplessness watching the destruction of them, ohhh the emotions are real people so be prepared for the rollercoaster.
This book was everything. Buy this book. It’s one of the best books I’ve read this year.
5 phenomenal stars
If i could give this book more than 5 stars i would have. Omg this book is mind blowing. TOTALLY EPIC… Method is the most unique book i have ever read. I haven’t read anything like this ever! God this book… I can’t believe what i have read. The shock, anticipation, angst, wow factor everything is present and it grips my attention from the first page. The writing is absolutely amazing and flawless. Kate will leave you thinking and guessing throughout the book. But wow i didnot see that one coming… This book left me with the biggest hangover ever. I was legit having dreams about Lucas Walker!! I think it’s Kate Stewart’s best work yet… Kate is truly a mastermind.
Totally recommended to everyone who haven’t read it yet!! Its a MUST READ…
