Wow! What a book. I loved Lucas Walker and in the next breath hate him. Throughout this whole story though he made you root for him and Mila. This Hollywood story is like nothing I’ve ever read and I couldn’t put it down!
Kate’s books always stir the imagination. Her stories are unique, intensely HOT and always unpredictable! METHOD certainly was all that and more! The characters were so real and alive with emotion. I found myself loving and hating them, needing to shake some sense into them, then wanting to hold them to console their bleeding hearts. Kate has an amazing talent that grabs you right from the start, needing the finish but yet not wanting the book to ever end. I was totally invested, waiting for the next emotional explosion!! Kate’s books are always a for sure one click for me, she just keeps turning out these amazing story lines that I just can’t get enough of!! Lucas and Mila will remain one of my favourite couples on 2019!!
This book consumed me from to cover to cover. I am so glad I chose to pick this up over the weekend, because I wasn’t able to put it down and it is not a short read by any means. The characters are strong and well developed. The plot had so many twisted and turns, I constantly needed to know more. Even though I tried to guess what what was happening, I was so wrong. I was all over the place emotionally…happy, sad, furious and devastated are what comes to mind while writing this. Thankfully, the author ties it all up with a lavender bow at the end.
Method touches are some real life things, like the fact that marriage is hard, even when you marry your soulmate. Imagine being married to an A-list actor. It can’t all be easy. It also touches on depression, loss, grief and how all three can take it toll, all at once. I wish I could give this book ten stars, because it deserves all of them!
Wow! Wow! Wow! I have a book hangover. This one is a whole lot of book, and I struggle to write this review. I’ve read the book twice with a couple of weeks in between and I’m still blown away by the story. That’s one of the ways I measure an excellent read, by wanting to dive back in more than once. I had to set aside time to read because it required my undivided attention. The characters Lucas, Mila and Blake are deep and twisted and raw and honest and infuriating and heartbreaking and lovely. Kate handles a few really difficult issues beautifully as I’ve come to expect. I know I’m going for a wild and emotion filled ride when I start one of her books. I enjoyed the unique angle in this story about the movie industry and what it can do to the people who love it and love to hate it.
I have just finished the most heartbreakingly, beautiful and masterfully created story I have read in a long time! I have given myself a little time for my beating heart to ease, but I just had to leave this review now, while the raw angst is thrumming through my veins.
I can honestly hand on heart say that for my first ever read by Kate Stewart, I was absolutely blown away. Method took me on a dangerous and toxic, journey, with beautiful hints of happiness and above all else Love. Love is a word that is thrown around a lot these days, but my my, this book is the epitome of unconditional love. Love between a man and wife, love for their passion in life, and the love between friends..between brothers!! My heart was ripped our, trampled on, chewed up, but carefully and steadily given back and patched up so well that I could forgive the immense anger, and frustration, tears and yes at times absolute confusion.
I am not going into spoilers because you really have to experience this epic journey on your own to appreciate it. But I highly recommend you give this book a shot.
This book was crazy good it remains me of a few others I have read. I have never heard of Method acting before but you don’t have to it’s explained in the book.
Lucas came from a trailer park in West Virginia his mother didn’t care about anything other than her next drink. A baby sitter who was an X Star took him under her wing and introduced him to a life he wanted so bad he could taste it.
Meeting his best friend Blake and x childhood Star they both had ambitions of becoming Hollywood Royalty.
When Lucas meets Milia he finds more than a pretty winner taster he finds true love.
There are so many ups and downs in this book and unexpected turns. It starts out on tragic circumstances. The book goes between past and present from both povs.
I really liked her writing style and the book. It’s one that you have to know what happens because you can’t put it down!
5 emotional powerhouse stars
Wow, what a read. Intense, dramatic and emotional, I was so sucked into this story and I’m feeling so book hungover right now. The feels! Kate Stewart has delivered an engaging, angsty, romantic and heartbreaking story that shattered me, but that ultimately melted me and completely owned my heart from start to finish. You don’t just read this book, you experience it, and I loved it! (And can I just say that that cover slays me every time I look at it… *dreamy sigh*).
Mila and Lucas are married, happy, madly in love and completely besotted with each other. Lucas is one of the hottest actors in Hollywood, devoted to his craft and desperate for success and security after coming from nothing. Mila is not in the business, but she is fully accepting of the strain that Lucas’ job has on their life, and though they have had some ups and downs, together they have worked hard to make their marriage work.
“I need our connection. I am his life and he is mine and that’s the only way we’ve ever worked.”
Everything begins to change for them when Lucas’ best friend, Blake, a fellow actor, dies unexpectedly. His death coincides with Lucas being offered the role of a lifetime and, desperate for a way to deal with his grief, Lucas throws himself into his new role to the exclusion of all else.
“Shit,” she says softly. “Shit, this is it? Isn’t it?”
I nod … “I have to focus, baby.”
A different silence, one filled with tension passes before she speaks. “This is so weird,” she says before taking a sip of her wine. “Saying goodbye to a man you’re still living with.”
“I don’t get to clock out.”
“I know.”
Lucas is a method actor. His roles consume him, and he truly becomes the character that he is playing. It’s something that they have learned to deal with as a couple, but this time, with the intensity of his role and still struggling with his grief and the circumstances surrounding Blake’s death, it’s going to put them to the test like never before.
“Where you go, I go, right?”
“You can’t come here, Dame.”
What an incredible journey we get to go on with these two. The timeline of the book shifts between the present, months earlier to the beginning of Lucas taking on his latest role, and to the past so we get to see them meeting and falling for each other. Their love story is passionate, intense and absolutely stunning, and I loved watching as Hollywood’s golden boy falls for the ‘normal’ girl and fights for her love, and I fell in love right along with them.
“I think you’re a reward for my patience. I’ve never had anyone there for me, not like this. I feel a sort of peace I’ve never had before.” Tears trail down my cheeks. “You changed my luck, Dame. And for the first time in my life, I feel like if I ever need rescuing, I’ll have somebody there to help save me.”
Any brick or mortar I have left surrounding my heart disintegrates with his confession. He gives me all his trust, and I take it, and in return, I give him mine. Because he is worth it. “I will, Lucas. If you ever need saving, I’ll be there. I promise.”
He presses his forehead to mine. “I’m counting on it.”
You read their story wondering how they can possibly get to the point they are at in the present, and then we get to watch in excruciating detail as Lucas loses himself completely. You can feel it all unraveling and the writing is so beautiful!
“I’m sure the idea of success is far better than success itself. That realization has me paralyzed where I sit. I’ve traveled a million miles and gone fucking nowhere.”
The feels are intense and the angst is heartwrenching, and I ached for all that the two of them were going through.
“I don’t think you even know who you are anymore.” I’m crying again, and I hate it, but I’m fighting for the love of my life, and he’s lost in some oblivion I have no map for. He’s the only one with the clues. “I miss you so much.”
They have a true battle on their hands as they fight to find their way back to each other, and it’s all so heartachingly raw. I felt it all with them and I couldn’t put this book down.
“Humans are gloriously flawed, and some types of love are never truly unconditional. A lot of my mistake was expecting our love to stay perfect, because a lot of the time, it was. It’s wanting our love even after we’ve seen the imperfections that makes or breaks us.”
But don’t let the angst in this book frighten you off. It’s not always an easy read, I cried and ached right along with the characters, but OMG it’s worth it. Their situation is hard, but their love for each other absolutely shines, and the end of this book left me teary-eyed but swooning.
Another powerhouse read from Kate Stewart. I loved it.
5 stars.
First book by Kate Stewart and it was a good read. There was a lot of past and present back and forth. It was a very deep read. It was not my typical Romance type of read. It did end on a HEA which was such a great ending. I would love to try another book from this author that is not so deep, emotional and sad.
This is an emotional book & may have triggers for some. That being said, I really loved this book. I was swept away and totally invested in the characters.
While reading this book I felt right along with them, the angst, the sadness and the deep love. It shows that marriage, friendship and people are not always perfect, we’re flawed and make mistakes and when these mistakes result in being hurt you have to fight through that hurt to get to the other side. Once there will you be the same?
Kate crafted a book that keeps you interested from the get go and you want to keep reading because you have to know how the story ends. Too me, this is a definite read.
Thank you for your review.
Kate Stewart wrote a brilliant story with Method!!!! She’s such a phenomenal author!!!! This book is a strong, gritty, page turner!!!! If you haven’t bought Method yet, WHAT THE H*LL ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!? #OneClickNOW
This is my first Kate Stewart book and if her others are even a fraction of the brilliantness that Method is, I am a big fan! Method is one of those books where no matter what I say, it won’t be adequate. I don’t want to spoil anything and I think you should go in blind with faith that you will come out better just for reading it! What an incredible, unique, and absolutely fascinating story! On the surface, it’s a story about love and deep struggles to maintain that love through tragedy. And if that was it…if that was the gist of it, it would STILL be a dazzling story. But it honestly goes so much deeper. You will struggle with your own feelings while reading Method. It’s fun and so very heartfelt, but also incredibly devastating at times. Lucas and Mila are extraordinary characters and I felt for both of them through the entire read. Method is a truly captivating book, and completely original. 5 stars, absolutely, for this book!
It’s books like this that make me wish I was a better reviewer. I’m pretty good about reviewing books I read and enjoy. However, I don’t feel like I’m the best writer. My review will not do this book justice. It was honestly so freaking good. Kate Stewart got deep with this story. I loved Lucas and Mila and the journey they took. My heart hurt for both of them at different times. And poor Blake. Just heartbreaking.
Lucas is a method actor who gets lost in the role of a lifetime after his long time best friend passes away. Mila is Lucas’s wife who has to deal with the man her husband becomes when he gets lost in a role. Their love was so obvious and real. I was rooting for them the entire time. Only a strong woman could handle everything that Mila did. I highly recommend this book to everyone! It’s seriously so good that I think everyone will enjoy it.
Q: I can’t even tell truth from fiction anymore. I’m not even sure how much of our story was a lie and that’s the thing that angers me most.
Method by Kate Stewart was an emotional journey that exceeded my expectations. This book consumed me as I read… The story is very much a second chance romance that expertly weaves the past and the present together for a story that’s utterly beautiful and incomparable.
Q: Immersion isn’t necessarily a bad thing; in fact, it’s what’s propelled me into the kind of actor I want to be, but my memory gets foggy in the weeks and months that I spend behaving as someone else. I find I have a selective sort of memory in those days. I’m not exactly somewhere else, but I’m most definitely not present.
Method was a superb example of Kate Stewart’s storytelling talents. This dual POV romance captivated me from the very beginning and had me glued to my seat until the very last line. I love Kate Stewart’s writing style and review her books at every opportunity that I am presented. She writes compelling stories and characters that you genuinely become immersed in as she weaves together angsty, raw, emotional journeys. Kate’s romances are intense and the characters so realistic that you cannot help but identify with them. As soon as Kate started telling her readers (via social media) about her WIP, I became intrigued with Method. And the more I learned about the story, the stronger the draw became. Then, the coolest thing happened! I met Kate at the Talkbooks Author Event in Boston just days before the blogger’s copy of Method hit my kindle. And in talking with her, my anticipation for Method grew… So were my expectations for this book high? Absolutely! And still, Method exceeded my expectations!!!!
Q: Though his suffering is ripping me apart, I’ve been aching for him for months, desperate to break through the barricade he carefully constructed, the bricks he laid, that I allowed him to lay, between us. Those walls, they’re still there. He’s no longer my husband, he is the aftermath. What’s left of the man on my porch is the evidence of a job well done and the cause of our demise.
Method is a complex journey of a method actor who immerses himself deeply into his characters and what that’s like for the woman he loves. Kate elucidates Method by weaving the past and the present together in a brilliantly written, agonizingly honest, intense, raw and undeniably sexy second chance romance. My emotions were all over the place with this one, and the tears flowed with the raw emotions Mila and Lucas underwent. I was emotionally spent at the end of Method and truly believe that Kate Stewart wrote this story from personal experiences because the story owned a complexity and intensity that are unmistakably gained through enduring them yourself. I am unwilling to spoil the story and believe that the less you know about the actual plot the better. Method was undoubtedly a six-star read on a zero to five scale and I can not stress enough for readers to skip reviews and just one-click immediately!

Every time I see this woman, the epiphany strikes much like the first time I saw her. For me, she is the very look and definition of love.

We don’t need space to be individuals, because we’re the better version of ourselves when we’re together…

Every time I’m inside my wife, I feel better, stronger, and worshipped, even if it’s short-lived. I am loved by her in a way no other woman could ever master. Mila is the answer, my answer. I’m lucky.

He wants forgiveness, but I can’t find it sorting through his actions of the past few months. He wants mercy where he gave none. It’s hypocritical, and it infuriates me.

We’ve become the sum of all my fears when going into this relationship and as much as I want to take some blame, anger keeps winning.
If I could give this book TENstars , I would! This book is epic proportions good! I rode the highs and lows of this book with utter devotion and honestly I look at some things in life differently. Kate Stewart show us the depth of love Mila and Lucas have for each other through words that pull you in deep; riding the waves of her words is a beautiful thing. You need this book in your life, at the top of your TBR, one click it now!
Engulfed within moments of its first scene, this love story was one that I found to be intoxicating, romantically addictive, and soul crushing all at once and in the best possible of ways.
Lucas and Mila’s love was not that of a typical fairytale. Their journeys in life that lead towards one another, as well as after the time we the reader meet them, was beautifully told by using flashbacks. These insights, from both characters to reflect on better times, times when things, including themselves were more innocent, and Hollywood had yet to corrupt their souls, will leave you feeling as if you have been whisked into another world.
Dissecting not only the depths that some of the Hollywood elite will go to in achieving the pinnacle of their craft, Stewart expertly explores the raw and emotional toll of a marriage put on the back burner for a career and the changes and growth of such a relationship over time.
Method is a love story so deeply emotional and romantic it will leave you breathless and its story will seep into every crevice of your soul.
As Always, Happy Reading!
“5/5 Beaming Brains!” – Lit-Up My Mind
If they gave out Academy Awards for books, Kate Stewart would sweep them with this book!
It has to be the biggest nail biter book I’ve ever read. Truly.
Mila and Lucas are not only Hollywood’s golden couple, they are Kate’s golden couple! I don’t know how she does it. How she writes these emotionally draining novels and continues to have useable brain cells. It takes a special woman to be able to do these kind of things.
This book was just so perfect! I have less words to use for this one than I did for Heartbreak Warfare.
My heart broke for Mila. My heart broke for Lucas. More than once.
And yet, I cheered for them both throughout the book, because they deserved to be happy. They needed to be the perfect couple. They had to be together! Forever.
Kate Stewart is the golden author of angst! And the perfect payday for fans of her work.
Before I started this book I knew it had to do with an actor and then I looked up method acting. That definition alone made me so excited to read this book and see where the author was going to go with it. To say I was impressed is an understatement. It was a beautifully weaved story that not only kept me hook, but broke my heart and the author put it back together.
The back and forth, past, recent past and present between Lucas and Mika were hard to read at times. We get to see them start, them happy, them struggling and well….. who likes to know the ending in advance. ;). A man dealing with grief…. or not really dealing with it and a wife that is giving her all until it breaks her. There’s an amazing hint of mystery that surrounds Lucas’ best friend and it compels the story along with his acting, the progression of their love, and their downfalls. It had me so hooked that it was hard to put down.
It is a romance story but beneath all that it was more. I won’t go into to many details but the author really did her research and has proven to once again that she is able to write a story that has every aspect down to a science. This book deals with some tough subjects but the author really did an amazing job. I can’t wait to see what her mind comes up with next. 5 stars #2OCCJD
Method acting is an intriguing and complex way for an actor to immerse himself into a role, giving himself completely over to the character, physically and emotionally. It’s a complete departure from the actor’s true self, transforming his reality, his mindset, and his lifestyle. And in doing so, for all intents and purposes, the actor becomes a different person for however long the filming lasts.
It’s important for readers to understand this concept as they delve into the lives of Lucas and Mila Walker and try to sift through the drama that ensues, in both the past and the present, as Lucas takes on the role of a lifetime. Because while it’s a movie that could make Lucas a superstar, it also has the potential to destroy the man himself as he gets lost in the psyche of his character, risking everything that he loves in order to nail the performance of a lifetime.
It’s absolutely crazy what Lucas is willing to do, to give up, to endure in order to get into character, wow the audience, and garner the acclaim he’s always wanted, and this is the part of the book that I find most intriguing because Kate Stewart brilliantly illustrates Lucas’ descent into madness as he submerges every part of himself into the maelstrom of emotions that surround the character he’s playing.
Through a large amount of flashbacks, Stewart allows readers to understand Mila’s reasons for fighting for her husband, even when it seems like Lucas is too far gone.
As Stewart toggles between the past and the present, she enlightens readers to the beginning of Lucas and Mila’s relationship, how their love grew, how strong their feelings are for one another, the ups and downs they had, as well as everything that they’ve weathered, both personally and as a couple, to remain just as in love with one another as they were at the beginning, and it’s through those memories that all the struggles, the sacrifices, and the heartache show just how worth it, it is in order to keep their love alive and make it through the personal loss of a friend and a role that has the potential to make Lucas a household name.
Kate Stewart’s beautiful prose, dynamic characters, and the meticulous way in which she creates the complications of the plot kept me in rapt attention throughout my reading of Method, so much so, that when the twist happened, I didn’t know what to do with it because it completely threw me off-guard while also leaving me in a state of awe with how savvy she was to pull it off in the way that she does.
Method is most definitely not a typical Hollywood romance story, but it does use the limelight of Hollywood – the glamour and glitz – the secrets and lies – the fake facades created for fame to prove just how easy it is for actors to get caught up in making it big and the complications that occur for that very reason.
4.5 Poison Apples
I finished this book days ago. It took me forever to read and not because it was a bad book but because every single chapter spoke to me. I had to sometimes stop to breathe, think about what I read and then cry. Kate has magic with her words, with her stories, with her writing. Method connected with me in a very personal level. Her story of married couple Lucas and Mila is so wonderfully and cleverly written it still gives me chills thinking about them. This is no ordinary love story. It’s a story of finding the love of your life and accepting them for exactly who they are. Mila a beautiful confident Sommelier. Lucas a handsome and in demand actor with green eyes. It’s a journey of searching your heart to understanding the people we fall in love with. I can’t say more other then I loved this book so much. It connected me and I understood what it takes to reach for another’s soul. To love so deeply and to understand so unconditionally. It’s a ten in my book! A must read! A standing ovation from me for “Method!”
4.5 brilliant stars
“He’d rearranged our universe to revolve around the other, and once we did, we were both sealed in our fate, destined to be the moon and obeying tide. I glowed in his affection while he swept me away with one electrifying wave after another.”
How do you review a brilliant book that deserves all the feelings it made me feel poured into a small package of words? It’s simple: You can’t and I won’t. Not that I don’t want to tell you how fantastic and out of this world this book is, but because of the fact that you deserve to go into this story as blindly as possible. To freely open up to a world that feels so real and raw that it breaks your heart over and over again.
“”You changed my luck, Dame. And for the first time in my life, I feel like if I ever need rescuing, I’ll have somebody there to help save me.”
I don’t know how Kate Stewart does it. I really don’t. To me she’s the queen of angst. Seriously. Method moved me beyond borders. She moves swiftly and without effort from chapter to chapter and keeps us guessing. Guessing about the past, about the present and about the future. Nothing is obvious and every time you think it is, you get surprised.
“My heart had memorized his, matched his rhythm and synced, declaring itself loyal. It will never be the same. I will never be the same. Never again.”
The realness and rawness of the characters is shocking and stunning at the same time. This is what makes this book so precious. The only thing why I can’t give it fully 5 stars is the fact that I sometimes had problems following the timeline with the back and forth between present and different times in the past and I got sometimes confused in which timeline I’m actually in. Other than that I can’t say a bad thing about this beautiful and perfect story.
“My husband loves me, but he broke my heart in a way I can’t just bounce back from”
Method is a brilliant book that blows up every border in your mind between fiction and reality. It’s a story that gets to you on so many different levels that you have no idea what hit you when you turn the last page.
“All it takes is a beautiful fake smile to hide an injured soul and they will never notice how broken you really are.” (Robin Williams)
“I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it’s not the answer.” (Jim Carrey)
