This was my first Kate Stewart book and I loved it! It was refreshing to read a very original story with mature characters. The writing was brilliant and I loved every minute of Lucas and Mila’s Hollywood journey! Highly recommend!
This book was brilliant, thought provoking and at times utterly heartbreaking- but I loved every minute of the journey I was taken on. I absolutely love when a book consumes me to the point where I can’t stop reading even when I need to get to work. This book was unlike anything I have ever read – done in such a way that I didn’t know where the story was going but I was in deep and I let it take over my every waking thought. The flash backs between past and present were woven perfectly into the storyline – I was so engrossed in Lucas and Mika’s love story that I needed every detail about how they met and how they got to their breaking point. The prologue drew me into the story and I was invested from page one. I always wondered what it’s like inside of the life of a method actor and this book brought me into that world like I was one of the bystanders in a real life movie.
One of my favorite reads of the year – 6 stars for me!!!
I’m utterly at a loss for words after finishing this book. The magnitude of perfection and talent in every word of this book was an experience unlike any I’ve had in the years since I started reading. This is my first book by Kate Stewart and I want to kick myself in the rear for waiting so long to try her work. I’ve always heard amazing things and they are all true.
I have always wondered why it seemed so impossible for most couples in Hollywood to stay together. This book created intense understanding. They must really be brave to even try. I deeply respect the amount of studying and research the author had to do in an effort to write this correctly.
I absolutely loved Lucas and Mila as a couple. I was already crying as I felt their pain on a visceral level and it was only the prologue. I hadn’t ever heard of actors using what’s known as the Method in order to prepare and execute the roles they play. After reading this, I have a much more healthy respect for the work they all do including all the many demons they battle at the same time.
The book doesn’t just revolve around the lives of Lucas and Mila but the ghost of Blake is always there between them throughout every chapter of the story. He was Lucas’ best friend as well as fellow actor and taught Lucas a great deal. Some of Hollywood’s biggest headlines over the last few years can be found weaved into the background of this story.
My heart ached for Mila. Her faith in her marriage and the level of crap she put up with all because she loved her husband was unbelievable. What she has to sacrifice for her husband’s dream job is something I couldn’t have done. Even knowing a happy ending was coming wouldn’t have changed my mind.
There’s a surprising twist towards the end that came out of nowhere and knocked me for a loop. It’s rare that I experience a truly surprising twist anymore but I had no clue that was coming. I felt my adrenaline spiking quite a few times starting from the very beginning. I balled my eyes out during several scenes as my heart ached but I loved the way the author mended my heart as she brought the story to a graceful close.
I love love loved this book! I can’t wait to dive into her other books! It will be quite some time before I forget Lucas and Mila and their hard won HEA.
Again Kate Stewart has blown me away with her words!!!
Go in blind..it’s soooo worth it..guess I need to take a moment and read the synopsis of the book since I’m done…
Ladies if you have never read Stewart’s books..this one would be a fantastic one to start with and I bet you a thousand dollars you will binge read all her books when you finish this one!! She is AMAZING!!!
Thank you for another AMAZING read Kate Stewart… can’t wait to get Method on my shelfie!!
xoxo
This book has been ALL over my news feed of late, so, I had to see what all the fuss was about, and I liked it a lot. Was I blown away by it, no. I think for me there were just too many flashbacks, and time jumps. I was much more engaged in Lucas’s descent into madness and the fallout from that. I would have preferred to read more of that and fewer flashbacks that bogged the story down.
The flashback issues aside…the rest of this book was fantastic. You could tell the author did her homework. The writing was great. The twist was well executed. The method acting plot was intriguing. I’d never want to date an actor like Lucas. That shit is just crazy! (lol) I’m honestly not sure how I feel about him. He was a great hero (most of the time), but when he went off the rails, he REALLY went off the f-cking rails. Mia on the other hand was a great heroine all the way through. Strong. Feisty. I’m not sure “I” would have gave Lucas another chance, but at least she made him work (somewhat) for it and didn’t immediately run right back into his arms.
So yea, overall it was a great read. If the author had dropped a few of the flashbacks and plumped up the present timeline, it probably would have been a 5-Star book for me.
‘Method’ took me on such an incredible ride, and since I honestly can’t say that I’ve read anything quite like this before, it leaves Stewart to reign at the very top as one of my favorite queens of romance writing!
Mila and Lucas’s characters were amazing in this story! They were both so strongly supportive of each other, and with their intense chemistry and passion, it was so apparent how very much in love they were. I really liked Mila’s honesty and temperament and loved Lucas’s humble appreciation for his well earned acting career and his ‘Dame’, Mila.
The story was told in flashbacks to Mila and Lucas’s past as their relationship evolved, and also in the present from both of their perspectives. I’ll admit that I grew a little impatient that so much of the story was revealed through their flashbacks and would have liked a little more of the here and now sooner, but oh, the anticipation! I realize that this also allowed Stewart to share more of Mila and Lucas’s touching relationships with the secondary characters though, and I was also super excited that Stella and Reid from ‘Drive’ had a cameo appearance as well!
Stewart is a mastermind at creating unique and compelling stories that tend to stir up all kinds of emotion in me, so I was pretty anxious going into this read to see if she was going to annihilate my heart. I don’t really want to give too much of Mila and Lucas’s story away, but I’ll tell you that it was incredibly passionate and angsty, and Stewart definitely dealt a heavy hand of issues. Her writing felt very raw and realistic with some very heartbreaking moments throughout, but she also wrote them in a very tender and caring way.
Every time that I hear that Kate Stewart has a new book coming out, it’s an automatic ‘yes please’ for me, and clearly, that isn’t going to change any time soon. ‘Method’ is a fantastic story and a must-read romance!
Talk about intense!
I’m not new to Kate Stewart’s books but Method is a whole new feel for me. I didn’t sob. I may have chuckled a few times. I didn’t fall in love instantly. I fell apart. I got lost. I was confused. I felt betrayed and heartbroken. All of that before I even knew what was happening!
Method is carefully crafted genius. A journey into spiraling…everything. Life, love, loss. A spiraling vortex of pain. It’s a suspenseful, voyeuristic jaunt through both past and present. A glimpse in the periphery of what is and was while the reader struggles to places puzzle pieces or facts together.
Method has poignant and poetic quotes that haunt both the reader and their authors. I don’t know whether the quotes launched the idea of this book of were used as a “Method” to sway the reader but it was incredibly successful.
I am both physically lighter and emotionally heavier by this ending. I am smiling, fighting tears, and wishing I could read it again for the first time.

Oh my goodness, Kate Stewart what have you done to me. This author can write a story and you will never guess the secret until she wants you to. I’m still in tears after finishing this book. Mila was a beautiful godsend. Such a giving and caring, head strong woman. Lucas adored the very ground she walked on. He hurt my heart many times in this book. This author had my head spinning! I loved this story so much.
Unconventional. The most original concept for a book I have read in a long time. As usual, Kate’s writing was smooth and flowed well. But it’s the story and the characters that made my breath catch and kept me turning the pages.
What an intensely wild ride through the world of method acting and all that can be affected throughout the process. This was such a different book than I have read before, and that was immediately appealing. Original, emotional, impactful. That was Method!
It is no secret that I love Kate Stewart’s writing. She was a way of making me swoon and laugh and sweat and ache like no one else. But holy what in the world did I just read? Method started with a bang and I was dying to know how things got to that point.
I have to start with Mila. She was such a strong woman. But also kind and vulnerable. She loved her husband fiercely and unconditionally. She understood the rules. But when Lucas starts breaking them, all bets were off. Did he have his reasons, sure. Lucas was so consumed with his grief he couldn’t see the future he’d always wanted was crumbling. Does that make what he did, what he put Mila through acceptable? Nope. And she let him know it.
The alternating timelines only added to the overall feeling of- where did this all go wrong? Seeing Lucas and Mila fall in love gave me the butterflies. Seeing Hollywood’s golden couple fall apart upped the feel factor. It was all building up to this, and when the bottom dropped out, and all the puzzle pieces clicked into place, everything changed. I was as shattered as Mila.
Kudos Kate Stewart- you got me good with this Method. I was equal parts confused and hopeful and anxious as I read. Mostly because I had absolutely no idea how everything between Lucas and Mila was going to pan out. I was hoping for the fairy tale HEA but what I got was so much more than I expected. It was an ending even Hollywood couldn’t write.
Wanna know what I just read?! A completely perfect book! Five stars all across the board. Super edgy. A little dark and mysterious. A lot hot. A lot twisted. A lot of perfection! This book hit my feels. The angst was intense and addicting. Kate is a must read author for sure. Can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
Maybe this book was too smartly done for me and I missed something but I got so confused. Without spoilers, a truth was revealed but I missed it and maybe it was an assumption that I was supposed to make from the information given. It was never clear to me.
I thought the story was so unique and well written but the continual leaps back in time caused me to miss what was happening in the present. I understand it was essential for us too know how Lucas and Mila got to together, their past and what leads up to the present. It made it hard for me to keep track of what was happening in the book.
Stewart does have a way of weaving a story that is uniquely hers and I love that. This book just misses the mark for me. I did like Lucas and Mila’s relationship and all of its complications. They seem to have the perfect marriage until trust is broken. I appreciate the complexity of the characters and the story itself.
I wouldn’t let this review deter you from reading this book, there were parts in this book that were so enthralling but I just couldn’t wrap my head around what really happened to Blake and what Lucas was doing during the filming of his last movie.
Well
Ever feel like no matter what words are placed here, that they simply won’t reflect the experience you just journeyed through? Me, right now.
Stewart gets me every time. I swear I’m a strong independent woman, and then, I’m a blubbering baby, it turns out.
The subjects in this are real, and heartbreaking. The forgiveness, overwhelming, and the love is off the charts.
Not just between Lucas & Mila, but even more so Lucas & Blake. Even the glimpses of Amanda & Blake. It’s just awe inspiring love on every single page.
I don’t know what I was expecting, but this surpassed it, not that I’m surprised.
Overall, my recommendation? A can’t miss experience, worth many more than 5 stars!
Let me finished wiping my tears first…
Im glad that I choose Method to be my first read from Kate Stewart. I have heard about Kate and her books along with so many recommendations. Where have I been before?? WOW and WOWWW!!
I want to scream from the top of my lungs. The prologue was a smack onto my chest.. who would thought that a tragedy can be the scandal of the time? The mystery of it? The source of many tears and heartbreaking? I took my time to read this book because the story was so sensitive and personal. The life of a famous movie star Lucas and his wife Mila were not a happy story. Raw, tear-stricking face.. emotional torment.. What would I do if I was in their shoes?
Method was written with a different plotline.. I dont mind it at all. The struggle of marriage couple was vivid and nothing short with anger.. Im glad that Lukas and Mila werent shy with their feelings. Method was a glimpse of life window that moviestar also is a normal human being.
The struggle, love, acceptance, dream and family.. Truly it was an eye opening story to be told.
Wow. Nobody does gut-wrenching angst quite like Kate Stewart. This book was packed full of emotion. It physically hurt me to read parts of it I was so drawn into the story. The depth and layers of Method were spectacular. The plot and character development were deeply researched and executed perfectly. I absolutely loved this book!
A Heart Wrenching and Necessary Book… The story of a-list actor Lucas and Sommelier wife Mila, and what happens when Lucas’ best friend commits suicide and he shuts down in a horrifyingly public way. A story of desperation and devotion, emotional betrayal and redemption. A story that completely, irrevocably stamps upon the reader the personal pain of a spouse desperate to help her husband reeling in the wake of mental illness and grief.
Method, by Kate Stewart is not a love story. It’s a life story. More importantly, it’s a “what can happen when unspeakable, soul scorching pain takes over your soul” story. FAR beyond a mere story of love saved. Method is an importantly relevant tale of what happens to love, no matter how strong the bond, when loss and deep depression unexpectedly occur.
Propelled forward by flashbacks, Method reads like a Godfather movie, is equal in intensity and complexity, and is not for the impatient or easily distracted. That coupled with Stewart’s rapid fire prose, propels from Mila to Lucas, Lucas to Mila, and everything in-between at a speed that grabs you by the throat and sears each character’s struggle into your chest. And it is all heart-wrenchingly necessary.
In a time when no one seems to care about the sacredness of marriage, Method illustrates the true loyalty, devotion, sacrifice, adoration, and strength it takes to walk through troubled times whole.
I applaud this book. You should applaud this book. It is a must read plain and simple
Such a great read.
It’s different and that’s what drew me in. I loved the dynamic between the main characters and their struggles.
Great way to start my new year!
This book was so original. The author definitely did her research for this story.
The story focuses on Lucas who came from a tough childhood in WV and is now a Hollywood king. He meet Mika and their chemistry is off the charts. She is a wine expert and a Cali girl that feels over her head in her relationship with Lucas.
They have a whirlwind romance and marriage. Lucas is a
Method actor who submerged himself in his roles.
This is a struggle for Mila and their marriage but with their rules and love they survive.
When Lucas best friend commits suicide, Lucas ignores his grief and wife’s advice and submerses into a new movie role. When rules, promises and personalities broken will their love have what it takes.
Amazing and compelling story. Unlike anything that I have ever read and I became absorbed into this story. This author is so talented and diverse. I am volunteering to leave a review for this book.
I loved this book! The price of stardom can take it’s toll on a person and their loved ones. This story is full of sadness, despair, comfort, transformation of ones self, friendship and deep and meaningful love. It could be very intense at times. Kate Stewart pulled you into the life of Lucas Walker and his adoring wife Mila. It broke and touched your heart at the same time. You learn what method actors really have to go through to capture their part. I was enthralled and at times sadden by this book but in a good way. Kate, you came through again with the work you put into this book. Thank you for your beautiful words.
