Unique to her realm as she like her parents, MERIDIAN was born unto the realm with the purpose of looking over to mankind and a protection from the demons, but that is soon to fall apart. A long brewing covert agenda within her realm’s leader has heavy impositions with reaches into the dark realm keeping the power on Earth tipped in the dark one’s favor. Meridian, her father, and her circle of … of spirit guides threaten Warrick and his agenda, so he arrests Meridian’s father as a veil for his sinister plans. His agenda and recklessness brings a prison break and forces them to flee to the Fairy Realm for a hope of alliances.
A demand is made from the Fairy Queen. The guides must acquire the fairy stone from a witch coven and get into the dark realm for the fairy book stolen by a demon and time is short. Without the stone or the book, the sly queen will not yield to her demands. With naïve determination and confined by self-doubt she may not be able to wake her new love crush from his fairy induced slumber before his sleep is permanent or the Queen would like Meridian to believe.
The dark one is full of his own tricks for the spunky guide and nothing is what it seems when they make it to the dark realm for the coveted book. Forced to rely on a Fallen for help, the journey takes them to face off the demons as they play mind tricks on the guides and the dark one takes pleasure in his riddle that must be answered to acquire the book and escape the dark realm. Meridian fails to recognize the riddle and the answer is a test of her will and her faith.
As the outer turmoil brims, Meridian has her own inner turmoil as she is peppered with thoughts of the human boy she has encountered on Earth and a growing realization a love triangle exists, threatening the unity of the guides and the fairies while her father’s soul lies in the balance. Meridian learns of an ironic twist with the human boy, Aiden that furthers her curiosity about her soul’s purpose and little does she know how much of an impact he will have in her future.
Empty fairy promises brings the culmination of the unavoidable and her father faces his fate as the trial begins for his crimes on Earth. Stifled by sadness of the outcome, Meridian breaks the law, flees the realm in search of Aiden in hopes to answer her remaining questions and make a connection. In the end, Meridian suffers the ultimate punishment and unbeknownst to her a dark curse that will change her destiny and the fate of her realm.

I’m not going to lie. The beginning of this book was a bit rough, you just get thrown into the world of Meridian, her family and friends and have to figure out what is what and who is who. The world seems massive, confusing and new. On top there are so, so many characters that I can see why people quit.
That being said I’m glad I stuck to it. It does get better and easier to understand. I really liked the concept and the story. I really enjoyed the world building once it was slowed down, further in to the story and easier to understand. I also really enjoyed Meridian, she was strong and had her funny and snarky moments, I liked that she was relatable in some things like not always doing the right thing.
Overall, while yes the beginning was a bit rocky and choppy I did end up really enjoying it. I think maybe a Glossary of sorts would be a helpful to new and even current readers.
I’m looking forward to see what happens next .
I rate it 4
Mainly because it ended up leaving me more confused than anything and was close to being my 1st dnf but I was entrigued enough to want to finish.
Well developed and interesting characters and a well paced plot make for a hard to put down read. I’m looking forward to the next books in the series.
The same tired old cliches you’ve read a hundred times before, except this isn’t nearly as well written as other formulaic authors out there. A big miss from me.
What a fun and intriguing book! This book has well written characters and wonderful world building.
There are so msbmnt great paranormal characters
… Spirit Guides, Fairy folk, Witches, Demons and so many more! This book has a lot to offer a Paranormalworld lover.
I enjoyed the characters, but the humor really made this book for me! As a huge sarcastic smarta$$ … I enjoyed the quirkiness of the characters.
(I received this as an advanced reader copy)
Loved the characters in this book! Meridian and her family and friends went to great lengths to save themselves and the guides on their realm. This book is packed with action, adventure, and mystical happenings. I look forward to the continuing story as I can’t get enough!
I picked up a copy of this book when the series first launched. Almost immediately I was hooked. The characters are truly relatable. Almost everyone knows the smart mouth that never shuts up. The sweet naive girl who doesn’t understand the world and so on and so forth. I especially relate to Relic and his banter. What truly grabbed me though was the originality of the story. This was unlike and paranormal or fantasy book I have ever read. Honestly it was a breath of fresh air,and the ending really left me excited for book two in the series and wanting more. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in sci-fi/fantasy/paranormal or romance
This was a fun and interesting book!! It was entertaining and wonderfully written! I am always drawn to books with witches in them! And fairies are a definite plus! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
