In the classic Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis, the most important writer of the 20th century, explores the common ground upon which all of those of Christian faith stand together. Bringing together Lewis’ legendary broadcast talks during World War Two from his three previous books The Case for Christianity, Christian Behavior, and Beyond Personality, Mere Christianity provides an unequaled … Christianity provides an unequaled opportunity for believers and nonbelievers alike to hear this powerful apologetic for the Christian faith.

This is the book that righted me and helped restore my faith after I was nearly wrecked by false teachers in college. It holds profound truths in all seasons of life. Lewis will always be a literary hero to me along with George MacDonald.
I’m not even going to try to review Mere Christianity. Probably the most impactful book outside of the Bible for me. Still to this day. I read and re-read it and gain new insights. Never takes away from the Bible. Only adds perspective.
“Christians are nasty people” which is why we need a savior. Cerebral and ageless advice. Have a hot cup of chamomile tea and let your mind contemplate the depths of Christianity.
One of the books in my library that I have returned to again and again. C. S. Lewis was the great decider in my Christian walk, leaving no question unanswered.
This book makes one of the best cases that God exists. I have read and enjoyed many apologetic books but if one likes brainy books, I think this is one of the best. Why the Universe Is the Way It Is by Hugh Ross is the best that I have read.
Mere Christianity is a collection of Lewis’ radio broadcasts. A one time atheist, he became a strong believer in Jesus Christ and lays out irrefutable arguments for the Gospel and Jesus being who said he was. If you have questions about Jesus or Christianity, this is a wonderful book to read. It made a believer out of me!
If you’re seriously interested in the earlier stages of Christianity, this is the book for you. I know, in places it’s hard to read. But it’s well worth the effort. I consider this the most informative and deepest book about Christianity I’ve ever read
This is perhaps THE foundational book for all Christian believers who want to enjoy a happy and contented life of faith in Jesus Christ. No book has done more to bless me in my walk toward God’s kingdom.
The best non-fiction book written by a master communicator C.S. Lewis. Thought provoking and logical, this book is an important work of the 20th century for anyone who wants to understand the Christian faith.
Nobody writes like C.S. Lewis, and no one makes you think like he does. He is a real favorite in how he puts deep thoughts into easy-to-grasp examples. Can’t say enough good about him.
As a Christian, I do think that this book should be required reading for every person on the planet. C.S. Lewis has a way of talking theology in a down-to-Earth manner. He likens spiritual issues to common things, shedding light on how we people like to ignore our own inconsistent views, but we really like to point out other people’s inconsistent views.
This book is a tremendous help for anyone who would like to consider Christianity, aside from the Bible itself.
I read this book many years ago and just finished re-reading it. I’ve changed since I read it before! Lewis is a deep thinker, but can manage the words to express his thoughts in a way with wit and wisdom. I found myself wishing I could sit down and ask him questions.
I read this book the first time when I was first considering challenging my young-adult atheism. Raised Catholic, I was disillusioned and became a relatively vocal atheist, then some minor miracles saved my daughter’s life and I considered the possibility they weren’t random chance. This book was a wonderful push to understand in layman’s terms how another atheist came to similar conclusions.
I have to admit it starts slow, so don’t put it down, just skip ahead and come back to the first couple chapters after you’re hooked.
A classic that still speaks today.
Should be required reading for everyone with a pulse. Foundational. This is real life explained by one of the most brilliant minds in church history.
A classic for good reason. Lewis rejected Christianity- well, his IDEA of Christianity – as a young man. After he became a believer he spent considerable thought on how to communicate Christianity clearly focusing on what is REALLY important.
Thought provoking
Simply a classic for Christians and non-Christians who want to peer into Christian beliefs by one of the greatest geniuses in the 20th Century!
C. S. Lewis shares his own conversion to, understanding of and love for Christian living. I was spellbound by this collection of his writings that were gathered and bound into this one book. I highly recommend this book for all Christians.
A must read for both Christians and non-Christians alike. C.S. Lewis set out to disprove the Christian faith and in so doing, became a believer. Powerfully persuasive argument for the Christian faith.Another of the top ten books I have read in my lifetime!
