From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult comes a “sensitive exploration of the balance of love” (Publishers Weekly). Two cousins are driven to extremes by the power of love, as one helps his terminally ill wife commit suicide at her request, and the other becomes involved in a passionate affair with his wife’s new assistant. In the midst of betrayals and trials, forced to confront … of betrayals and trials, forced to confront the limits of their love, these cousins must ask themselves how far the borders of their hearts can extend.

The ending was disappointing.
I didn’t like much. After reading a couple of Picolt’s books, I realized the formula she uses and actually had the story figured out within the 1st 100 pages
A couple of characters you can love to hate!!
Every jodi picoult book is both easy to read yet holds a deep meaning.
I didn’t like the ending.
Not a page turner like her other books I have read. Did not hold my interest. Laid it down several times because it was difficult to maintain interest.
Jodi Picoult always comes through – characters, dilemmas, settings.
I didn’t bother to finish this book! 🙁
As with all her books Jodi picoult has you reading from page one to last page have fling your breath to see what happens and having you look at both sides of the situation
Well,written and factual.
Another amazing Piccoult masterpiece!
Not my favorite by this author. It was an ok story, and at the time it was written very topical. I appreciated the two stories being told simultaneously, but never really cared that much for any of the principal characters. I know the book was written a while ago, and it is perhaps less cutting edge topical than when it was newly released. I felt like I could predict the outcome pretty much throughout the book. I will continue to try books by this author as I’ve enjoyed several of her books in the past, much more than this one.
Not up to the standards of other books I’ve read by this Author. I did not finish it.
I love everything jodi Picoult writes.
Thought provoking. Well woven story.
As Jodi Picoult can be counted on for…another heartful story. As with all of Picoult’s books, and I have read nearly all of them, the book is wonderful. You can’t go wrong with her books. She has a way of keeping the story line from running away into a story filler and your are always ready to pick it up soon after putting it dow.
First of all I am a fan of Jody Picoult. I read this book when my mother was in hospice. Her suffering lasted way too long. Our state was considering assisted suicide and I greatly support that. I am sure my mother would have wanted it. She really suffered and in this story, the husband took action to prevent his wife from suffering. It certainly is a moral decision and Jody handled this issue with compassion and reality. She always includes side stories beyond the main issue. She is a master story teller.
Always fabulous!
Informative reading.
The Many Messages of Mwrcy
Mercy can be scrutinized or it can be spooned in mass doses. This book reminds us mercy can be for wanted yet not conceived children, for forgiveness, for love, for loss and for life.
