MERCY AND MAYHEM is the first instalment in Lindsay Cross’ contemporary, adult OPERATION MAYHEM romantic, military suspense series-a spin off from the author’s Men of Mercy series. This is Colonel Mack Grey, and air-force pilot Captain Marley Mitchell’s story line. MERCY AND MAYHEM can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty, Several of the characters were first introduced in the author’s Men of Mercy series.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Mack and Marley) MERCY AND MAYHEM follows in the aftermath of sabotage against Colonel Mack Grey, and his elite Team of Special Ops warriors. As an Air Force pilot Captain Marley Mitchell has flown many missions but her latest mission to Africa finds our heroine, and her cargo fighting for their lives when the assignment goes all to hell. Colonel Mack Grey, desperate to avenge the death of his former teammate goes on the hunt for an ex CIA operative whose experiments with creating a super soldier has left many men shadows of their former selves. Searching for the last known carrier of the experimental drug lands Mack and his Team in the Congo jungles, trying to fight off armed guerrillas, starvation, rabid beasts and lust. What ensues is the building relationship between Mack and Marley, and the fall-out as the threats against the Team come from an unlikely source.
MERCY AND MAYHEM is a story of betrayal and survival; friendship and revenge; love, misunderstanding and loss. The relationship between Marley and Mack is of the moment; a relationship based on circumstance and lust but issues of trust destroy any thoughts of a future, a future threatened by super soldiers, the Congo government and Mack’s inability to see the truth. The premise is engaging and energetic; the romance is hot and steamy but hot, steamy sex in the jungle, while on the run, is dangerous and stupid ; the characters are powerful, colorful and intense. MERCY AND MAYHEM combines romance, suspense, and military heroes in a dynamic introduction to the author’s OPERATION MAYHEM series
This is another excellent book. Loved the different personalities, the drama and heartbreak. very steamy. Betrayal perceived. Justice in the end, read to find out. Excellent.

Bravo, Lindsay Cross! This is another more than 5-Star read from this very satisfied reader. This is book one in the Operation Mayhem series and it features Colonel Mack Grey and Captain Marley Mitchell. WHAT A RIDE! The action is breathtaking and so is Colonel Grey. We see a side of Mack that we’d not previously seen. WOW is he sexy! The entire team was there from beginning to end. What a great story with amazing characters!
I’m loving this series just as much as the previous one, maybe more so. I’m anxiously awaiting the next book.
Again I loved the Dossier we have at the beginning of this story. This is what we have been leading up to in this series! The ending of Mr J and just as they are closing in an about to rescue Caroline disaster happens and Mr J try to kill them again.
I couldn’t believe how much of an asshole Ramsey was to Marley the little twit. I hope what he got from Mr J was worth it for trying to kill her especially knowing Marley has a daughter. Such a dirty tactic what he did, made me mad.
This book was action packed filled and I loved that this one compared to the others was mostly again throughout the book and I loved the change but it still had the hot romance between Marley and Mack and I loved those scenes. The passion and the connection both of them felt it was lovely!
Marley was stuck between a rock and a hard place, I felt so bad for her when she was being emotionally blackmailed to betray Mack and his team especially as they were threatening her daughter. I did love how she was telling Mack about her daughter and making him kind of face his past and make him deal with it.
It was hard when Mack discovered it all my heart broke for them both. I cried. It was hard. How she thought Mack would never forgive her for what she’s done and then Mack thinking Marley wouldn’t forgive him for how he treated her. It was a bunch of emotions. I also felt so sorry for her that she wouldn’t stay with Mack even though she wanted to especially knowing he was hurt.
I think overall on the Mr J plotline it was a satisfying conclusion, I do know this story is the start of the Operation Mayhem series which of course I am going to read, so it ends Men of Mercy and starts Operation Mayhem. I really enjoyed the Men of Mercy series and it’s sent me on a rollercoaster!
A never ending battle to hunt down the one man who betrayed them all end them in another stand off. Not surprised but the involvement of an innocent has them reared up more than ever but this time they’re determined to get their man and bring home a friend.
Breathtaking, intense and fantastic read. Love these Alpha men.
