Assassin. Private Investigator. Cat shifter.Kat is used to killing people, but for a blank cheque, she’s willing to do the opposite and help solve a murder – even though it sounds boring as hell. That is, until she finds some body parts in her fridge, makes friends with the neighbourhood cats and realises there may be an assassin better than her… things have become purrfectly exciting.
An urban fantasy full of cats, secrets and murders. This is a slow-burn reverse harem where Kat will find her love interests over time. Book one in the Catnip Assassins series.

I love cat stories. This series is right up my alley. Cat shifter, private eye, slow burn reverse-harem, purrfect what else could you ask for.

Kat, a panther shifter, is an assassin who is taken out of service & given an agency on her last call. Now she is the boss over two others. When she takes a case involving a murder investigation instead of assassination it gets interesting. She follows the trail of “bread crumbs” to a much larger picture that involves harming children. She is reunited with a past friend and new potential one. Can her & her team figure out what to do before more people loose their lives?
its a cliff hanger
The purr-fect beginning to what is sure to be a great new series! 2 thumbs up. Skye MacKinnon knocked it out if the park!
Meow started off a little slow and so it took a bit for me to get into the story. It also took a while to warm up to the main character, Kat. Her demeanor was a little off putting. Honestly it wasn’t until Lennox was introduced into the story that I was drawn into it. That’s where things started to pick up and become more intriguing to me. The case that Kat is investigating becomes more complicated as she digs deeper and discovers that her murder victim may not have been as innocent as he seemed. It becomes a race against the clock to solve the mysteries uncovered and save hundreds of innocent lives.
This second half of the story captivated my attention with it’s twists and made me interested in continuing Kat and her team’s journey. I look forward to seeing how things develop.(3.5)
Waiting for book 6 (Claw) to be released
I just wish there was more of it. I read it to the end and wanted more.
A good start to a new series. It starts a little slow and you feel like you maybe missing something but things get explained very gradually as the story progresses. But that being said the story has great potential to be a really enjoyable series. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
So many delicious supernaturals abound in this purrfectly exciting, sexy tale of cats, kitties, wolves, and humans, and Meow Investigations tackles many problems that exist in the human world, murder, poisoning children, slavery, making Kat, an assassin, change from working alone to gathering a team that will do whatever is necessary to stop The Pack and I can hardly wait to read more of their adventures.

Kat is a panther shifter. An assassin for the pack, her latest assignment is about to change everything. The intended victim gets the drop on her and then proposes a deal, one Kat can’t and doesn’t want to refuse.
Now with a home, a lucrative business, and employees, she is approached not for a hit, but to find a murderer.
We meet her employees, Beth a poison expert, Lily an assassin who uses feminine wiles to lure her prey, she also likes body parts… and Ben a very talented thief.
It’s the cats that are the interesting part of this team, Kat recruits them after one adorable little one coerces food out of her.
As Kat investigates the murder of the sweets shop owner, things get more complicated. The clues lead to some very interesting occurrences, another confrontation with her benefactor and the addition of a couple more employees.
I really enjoyed this book, the cats, the characters and more than a few surprises make this a page turning read. I’ve already started my re-read of the next book in this series.
I absolutely love strong female characters! This did not disappoint. Alot of guts, but alot more glory in this one. Kat has come a long way in her life and made a name for herself without letting it go to her head. Throw in cats and people from her past and you have a wonderful mystery beyond the paranormal. Absolutely LOVE IT!!!
I really enjoyed this book and want to read more about the characters.
Unlike most books, the characters are not so black or white in terms of their actions. They live more in the gray. Kat has been trained to be a killer and was under the control of the organization that caged her. She is now uncollared and gets to decide what cases she will take on and it leads to some interesting adventures.
I really liked learning more about her and her motivations. Her possible romantic interests add some spice to the story too. I love the use of the cats. There is quite a twist at the end that left me wanting to read the next book and see what is next for them all.

Reminiscent of Thomas K. Carpenter’s Hundred Halls and The Reluctant Assassin this series is dark mysterious and intense. The subject matter is a bit disturbing and a better read for a mature young adult. Gory but what assassin isn’t but they she claims to be swift and neat. Young shifter children are being poisoned with candy that either kills them or keeps them from being able to shift and steels away this power. Kat tells of her beginnings and how how she is now an assassin for hire. With a small team at MEOW, her company, she is requested to look into why the candy store owner was killed, by whom and what are the connections if any to the group Pack or heaven forbid, the Fang. It’s a fast paced read my only complaint if any would be the constant dialogue she has with herself. I love the group of cat spies she organized to work for her in exchange for food. Great idea. A very unique book in many ways. If you love mysteries, paranormal and a touch of gore. You’ll love this book, a good start to a series.
Skye MacKinnon’s Meow (Catnip Assassins #1) is purrfect. In this story cat shifter/assassin, Kat starts her own business. A client asks her to take on a murder investigation (verses an assassination) with the option to kill the culprit. This contemporary urban fantasy is suitable for adult readers.
I really enjoyed this story. It was unique and entertaining. Skye MacKinnon does a nice job creating the foundation for this series by explaining politics and history in this novel. The characters are likable with a lot of dimensions. I love that Kat has the neighborhood cats working for her. Skye MacKinnon does a great job describing the cats’ attitude. Or is it catitude?
This is the first book that I have read by Skye MacKinnon. I enjoyed her writing style and humor. The book was skillfully written and entertaining throughout. The collard aspect of the story reminded me of Jennifer Ashley’s Shifters Unbound series. I recommend this book to people who enjoy shifter urban fantasies. I’m looking forward to following this series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Catnip Assassins is an interesting concept, well-developed by the author. A murder mystery investigated by a female panther shifter, her three employees, a clowder of cats and a male wolf shifter. Cat-lovers will enjoy this especially, but there’s something for everyone: dog/wolf-lovers, mystery fans, haters of evil people who prey on children, even romances as several sparks seem to fly.
a twist on shifters, it is a fun series
Love Skye’s writing and I love cats, so Skye writing about cats is as near to perfection as can be.
The characters are strong and the storyline engaging. This book is a definite recommendation.
Interesting story and a nice involvement of the felines. The only fault i found with the book was I felt a bit lost at some points of the story. The slow burn is a nice touch. Looking forward to reading more of the series.
