Assassin. Private Investigator. Cat shifter.Kat is used to killing people, but for a blank cheque, she’s willing to do the opposite and help solve a murder – even though it sounds boring as hell. That is, until she finds some body parts in her fridge, makes friends with the neighbourhood cats and realises there may be an assassin better than her… things have become purrfectly exciting.
An urban fantasy full of cats, secrets and murders. This is a slow-burn reverse harem where Kat will find her love interests over time. Book one in the Catnip Assassins series.

Fast paced and engaging with a witty female lead, interesting mystery, and plenty of humour. I highly recommend this series to any fans of urban fantasy and/or shifters
I so enjoyed this! I thought I knew where the story was going, but nope, it surprised me at every turn! Kat is an attitudinal feline shifter and super tough–she has to be, since she’s an assassin. But she’s got a heart that endeared her to me from page 1 to the end. So eager to find out what happens next with Kat, the Fangs, and the delicious new men in her life! If you’re looking for a kickass heroine with a kickass heart and a mysterious adventure you can’t put down, this is the book for you!
Fun easy read with a unique POV. Assassins with a moral compass but also she’s a shifter. Good mystery with lots of action. Plenty of humor. Very enjoyable world building and characters. Highly recommended.
Fantastic book. Full of cats and l know l will never look at one the same again, in fact l am pretty sure the next cat l see on a fence will finding himself having an in depth conversation with me. Same goes for lollies but you will have to read/listen for more details. I have an audible copy of this book and l must say the narrator did a might fine job.10 out of 10 from me so l recommend it. It is also one of those rare clean books with no sexual content so good for teenagers as well as the older generation such as myself.
The cat assassins series was fun and entertaining.
for Meow on Audiobook!
I listened to Meow on audiobook over the last week and I enjoyed this first book in the series! With all the craziness of the pandemic, I haven’t been able to listen as much (no commute = no listening haha) but by making time to listen to this story after a long day working from home, I could escape for a little bit.
Story: 4.5/5 Stars
I enjoyed Kat and her “coworkers” haha and the new and men that showed up and will be part of the series moving forward. I thought the concept was great and even though I am a dog person, loved all the cats and their personalities. I liked that she kept shifting and talking to them and used them as her spy network! I totally called the ending hahaha. He just was too refined to be anything other than what was revealed (no I won’t say who, not gonna spoil it). I am super intrigued by the ninja human with a little extra, and always love the 2nd chance/childhood friend who becomes more trope. I cant wait to see where Skye takes this next. Great storytelling and world building. Definitely recommend!
Narration: 3.5/5 Stars
So this was my first listen of Melody Muzljakovich and I am still on the fence about adding her to my “Always Listen” list. She didnt do a horrible job, but there were things that I wasn’t a fan of that sometimes took me out of the book. I thought some of her accents were amazing (like some of the “posh” ones haha), totally could see the character in my head. Some weren’t so great (some of the male voices and Lily’s were not as strong/my favorites). Sometimes, I got annoyed with her inflections with Kat. Like they didnt match what was happening in the story or the way she did it was overdone. I think its more a personal preference honestly. I would definitely listen to her again (and definitely if she continues her narration of this long series).
**** SPOILER ALERT ****
“Meow: Catnip Assassins: Book – One” is my introduction to McKinnon’s writing.
A fun one too! The author does a superb job of world building and character development as we are introduced to Kat and her krew of assassins.
This is an entertaining page turner of a book that takes a look at assassins from another perspective. Kat takes on an unusual, for her, case to investigate a murder. Why is this unusual? Well, normally she is the one doing the murdering, not the one trying to catch the murderer. However, the investigation leads to a chilling discovery.
I highly recommend this tale and I can hardly wait to read “Catnip Assassins – Book Two”.
In the interest of transparency: I was given a review copy of this book and I am voluntarily sharing this review.
It is my own honest opinion.
Kat is a trained assassin, she enjoys what she does, but for a blank check, she’ll turn detective. What she finds during her investigation will keep you hooked until the very end.
Filled with dead bodies, body parts, enthusiastic colleagues, old friends, unusual recruits and lots of twists and turns, you won’t be disappointed.
What a fascinating story. Not the usual plot for a shifter book. Great characters. Kept my attention throughout the entire book. No sexual content but does have some violence. I would recommend it for teens and up.
Loved this book. Intriguing and different. And the cats were funny and smart. Kat is a panther shifter, been enslaved her entire life, and rained by the pack to be an assassin. She meets a mysterious stranger who is able to remove her collar, and gives her a house and enough money to start her own business. For six months she has been free and running her own assassin business. But then she is hired for a very different job. To investigate and find out who murdered a sweet shop owner. This leads her to a complex, sinister plot to eradicate shifters. As she gets more and more involved in the case, surprises are in store. A childhood friend comes back into her life, and she meets another assassin who she is drawn to also. I loved her unique helpers. Using the cats to follow suspects and keep an eye on potential witnesses. Brilliant!! I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review
This is a very intriguing story – it builds steadily as you are introduced to the characters and to the storyline.
Very funny at times with an unusual take on life – or in this case death!
LOVED it. Can’t wait for the next one.
Yass Skye! Love this new series! The MC Kat is a panther shifter and she’s an assassin. She finds out someone is killing shifter children and she gets her new gang on the investigation. Love all the different personalities! I can’t wait to read what next for Kat and her group! Meowwww!

Skye has really created an interesting world in this introduction to a new assassin series. Kat is an assassin that wears a collar that forces her to follow the rules. At least until she is sent on a job where a mysterious man sets her free with the stipulation that she start her own business and take occasional jobs from him. Flash forward six months ans he doing somewhat well when a new case forces her to reevaluate how she does things as well as who she works with. Fantastic world building with lots of twists that will really keep you guessing. If you like cats then you will love this but if not you may want to make a different choice as they play a huge role in this story. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
Wow – if you like cats, cat shifters, action, RH, and a great plot this is the book for you. Kat is a panther shifter and assassin who finds herself suddenly investigating vs killing. One of the things I like best about this story is that the person’s mannerisms match the animal they shift to, in that aspect it is like Laurenston’s Pride series, which is one of my faves. Kat is calm, cool, and contrary 🙂 The guys intrigue me, and I can’t wait to see what she and her guys will get into next 🙂
Extremely tame for a series labelled as a reverse harem, so it lives up to the description of being a slow-burn romance. A little more world-building would be appreciated. While characters have plenty of depth, the female protagonist is generally not a likeable character. The overall premise of the series is quite unique though, so I’m interested to see where it goes. A new/better editor is needed.

A good read! It is well-developed, witty, funny, fast pace, and engaging. The characters are likeable; the chemistry between them is instant and off the charts. Definitely recommended!
Oh, murder did you ask? Yes right up Kay’s alley. She is a panther shifter that has been raised as a assassin. The Pack owns her. She get lucky one day and now has her own assassin business. When she gets a strange job what will she learn? Who will show up to help her? You might just be surprised. This story is a good read for teens on up.

I loved this work. So much went and I found it impossible to put down. It was a great read with a plot that had twists and turns. The ending had me eager to jump into the next work in the series. I love all the different aspects in the work. I can’t wait to learn more about the characters and see what happens next.
