Sometimes I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry as these two do maneuvers of tug of war against everything pushing them together. She didn’t want to be there much less to like him. He didn’t want to be drawn to her but couldn’t stay away. Not only had he been burned but he had lost his family in the process. Well if only that was all they had to deal with it might not be too bad, but of course it’s not. Penelope might be the quiet twin but she is by no means docile when those she cares about are threatened. It’s a great read and of course I read them out of order so yeah they are standalones in this series. Clean fun romance reads that will get your blood pumping with the intrigue and your heart melting as they deal with all of the manipulations and crazy that go with the territory. Of course the MacLachlan brothers are hot, sweet, and rich. The women who love them are no pushovers and give these brothers a run for their love.

I purchased a copy of Mending the romantic suspense Billionaire Movie Star: A Clean Scottish Romance Book One (A MacLachlan Brothers Romance 1) by Bree Livingston and this review was given freely.
Vivid descriptions, lots of drama, and a twisted plot with a happy ending. Two broken hearts find love in an unexpected location. Florida dog groomer Penelope is setup by her twin sister Paige to compete in a twelve week Montana based reality show featuring the rude and pompous billionaire bachelor Angus MacLachlan, but things are not as she expected.
Mending the Billionaire Movie Star by Bree Livingston (4 stars)
Two very damaged people are stuck together on a reality tv show and eventually come to realize that, when they finally open up, they are healing one another’s pain.
I liked that the h fought against being on the show and the fake-ness of being filmed, etc. She was over-the-top about it, but it was understandable as to why she didn’t trust anything that was happening on the show, or the H’s sincerity. She was they type of person to love with her whole heart and she fought to keep her heart safe from the charade of the live tv show.
The H is damaged and has lashed out. He is still being tormented by his ex who also happens to be his agent. He has an epiphany during the course of the show, but so does the h.
I enjoyed this book and especially the ending. The author saves some surprises for us readers! An easy book to get caught up in…Well done, Ms. Livingston!
*poor, ** ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special
The first thing I said when I finished this book was wow! I’m stunned! I loved this book so much.
Oh my goodness, the sparks that flew between Penelope and Angus. I admit when I started reading it that I thought, oh here we go, another reality dating book, it’s going to be so cliche, but I was wrong. I loved that it was not love at first sight. Penelope wouldn’t have met Angus if it hadn’t been for her twin sister Paige who unbeknownst to her signed her up for the reality dating show.
Angus is a very famous movie star who has made bad decisions and has fallen from grace, this show is meant to prove to fans that he has changed. He doesn’t plan on falling for anyone, while the other girls in the show want him, Penelope doesn’t and just wants to be sent home. She tells Angus how life is. ( I loved that)
I really appreciated how it took a WHILE for them to come together, that it wasn’t two or three days and they were madly in love. Watching them change and grow was a joy.
This is a clean read! If I could give more stars I would!
I’ve read a few Bachelor/Bachelorette type show books, but this is the first one that the person showed their distaste for the show on air. It was interesting and I’m sure would make good reality TV. Penelope loves with her whole heart. Otherwise she would have let her sister go to jail for fraud instead of putting herself out there to the whole world. Angus has made some bad choices, but he really is a great guy. This book takes you on a wild ride through the crazy world of reality TV. Luckily, Angus and Penelope were able to connect through all the craziness. This was a sweet story, but I wish there had been an epilogue to show them outside the show. Also, do not judge this book by the cover. Angus is a redheaded Scotsman with freckles. I know it’s hard to find the right people for covers, but I wish the cover of this one had matched a little better the real character.
This book reminds me of some of Jennifer Griffith’s work. Gina Ardito also wrote a great story about a reality show a while ago. All three of these books are worth reading.
Penelope kept trying to run away from Angus, from her feelings, and she was a little too dramatic for me. To me, she came across as bratty and snobby, definitely prejudiced against Angus because her reminded her of her ex and she didn’t think she could trust him. She kept throwing things (figuratively) in his face and thinking the worst of his intentions. I did find that got to be a little bit wearing after a while and I didn’t really like her character.
Angus stubbornly refused to give up on her and felt an attraction for Penelope almost from the start. The two of them were like fire and water and when they got together there sure was some steam!
-‘Penelope…the woman was pure aggravation on legs. And no matter what he did, he couldn’t shake her from his mind. There was something about her that called to him. He liked that she challenged him. She didn’t take what he said as gospel. She was normal and down to earth, and for some reason, those qualities seemed to be just what his soul was crying for.’-
A clean romance in a reality tv show setting. Twin Penelope and celebrity Angus have a lot of chemistry but Angus also has a stalker targeting Penelope and a vindictive agent. Will they have a HEA?
I was given an ARC and I am leaving this review honest review voluntarily.
