A steamy, gripping standalone romance from Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author Chelle Bliss. Before senior year, I was forced to move away, leaving behind the only man I ever loved. He promised he’d love me forever. He vowed nothing would tear us apart. He swore he’d wait for me, but Jack lied.Six years later, when our paths cross again, his broad shoulders, rock-hard chest, and … again, his broad shoulders, rock-hard chest, and rippling muscles almost make me forget his betrayal. His rugged voice, tempting lips, and sinful smile make it harder for me to deny the feelings I still have for him.
Now, Jack wants to make me his again, but our past may be too much for us to overcome.
They say time heals all wounds, but the years haven’t diminished my heartache. The only thing that dulls the pain are Jack’s lips caressing my skin as he whispers, “It’s always been you.”

Chelle Bliss completely left me speechless with Mend. She had my heart and soul in her Foreword dedicated to her father. That letter was one of the most beautiful things I have read in my life! I knew right then and there it was going to be a special book, and it was!!!!
Jack and Evie have been in love since they were in middle school, and they thought no circumstance or no one could tear them apart…until they did. Six years later, each have their own lives, but no one has taken Evie’s place in Jack’s heart. It’s the same for Evie. With all that love, there is anger, pain, and resentment. Both have carried each other in the deepest parts of their hearts, but all that comes back into the present when Jack sees her for the first time in six years. That first meeting definitely isn’t happiness and joy. Jack is determined after seeing her he isn’t going to let her go again, especially when he sees the desire in her eyes. Can these two move forward and finally grab the HEA they both deserve?
As I mentioned earlier, I was hooked from the beginning, and I didn’t come up for air until I was finished. I fell in love with all of the characters, with the exception of Renee and Jess…UGH!!!
Jack and Evie have been hurt so badly when they didn’t need to be. They were a victim of circumstance and selfish people. I couldn’t help but admire their capacity for forgiveness. It was inspiring. I loved the flashbacks to the different periods of time in their relationship. They really illustrated how deeply these two not only loved but respected one another. It also helped me understand why they were afraid to open their hearts to each other again because if they broke each other this time, it would forever break something deep inside of them.
Chelle Bliss gave us a bit of a twist involving Evie, and it explained why she was fighting her feelings for Jack. She didn’t want to lose him again.
Bliss gave her readers such a wonderful book. All the characters added something special to the story, especially Evan. He was the best, adding humor to a book that at times was very sad. Jack’s sassy sister even added humor to it. The setting even drew me to the book. She created a charming small town, even Evan loved it. I could feel the magic of the lake that was so important to Evie and Jack.
There were some steamy scenes, but the underlying bond between Jack and Evie was their love. There was no doubt in my mind that they were destined to be together. I adored the underlying theme of the importance of family and friendships. Mend is my favorite book by Chelle Bliss! It’s a top read of 2018 for me and an all-time favorite!!!
Mend is a standalone second chance romance that is different than what this author usually writes. That’s not a bad thing, I loved it. This book had me in tears reading her forward. There is so much emotion poured into this book and you can feel it.
Jack and Evie fell in love at first sight in eighth grade. They were each other’s first everything, first kiss, first person to make love to. They were each other’s best friend. Evie came from a very strict family and her military father didn’t want Evie with Jack. Her father had orders to transfer to Germany and kept those plans a secret. They told Evie last minute, so she only had a day with a few hours to say goodbye to Jack. They were going into their senior year in high school. They had made plans to be together once they graduated. But the move changed all their plans. Promises were made only to be broken. Hearts were broken.
Jack is a successful businessman that started an on-line business in college that has taken off. He and his partner are doing very well for themselves in Philadelphia, but all the success doesn’t mean a thing when he doesn’t have the only woman he ever loved by his side. Jack still has ties to the small town he grew up in as his mother and sister still live on the family farm. He goes back often to help his widowed mother with the farm and his difficult teenage sister Myra. He never thought he would ever see Evie again after she broke his heart, but there she was back in town in the arms of another man.
Six years later Evie returns to town with her gay best friend Evan in tow, she has an agenda that must be met. Evan is there to support her and to make sure she does what she set out to do even though it was going to be painful. The last thing that Evie wanted to do was run into Jack, but fate had other ideas.
This was such an emotional read. My heart hurt for Jack and Evie. There was betrayal by the very people that you should be able to trust. Friends lied and twisted truths. Secrets were kept, and hearts were broken. Secondary characters were fantastic, there were those that you love to hate and then there are those that are precious like Evan. His character is what everyone wants in a best friend. He would do anything for Evie, even push her to realize she is making the biggest mistake of her life if she doesn’t admit that she is still in love with Jack and to give him a second chance. I am not going to say anymore. There is a lot that goes on, but I don’t want to spoil the journey.
If you want a sweet, funny and sexy second chance romance then give Mend a read!
Chelle Bliss is known for her hot steamy alpha books. “Mend” is a different, and a long time coming. It is a second chance romance that is beautifully written. You feel the pain and struggles that Evie feels as she returns home and encounters her one true love Jack. Can Evie overcome what transpired 6-years ago to tear them apart? Can Jack? Jack won’t give up … he will fight for the only women he ever loved.
A MUST READ. Chelle still brings the steam but also give you a sweet and heartfelt story! Absolutely loved this book! I volunteered to review an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Beautiful! Romantic! Oh, the FEELS!
A truly sweet and touching story about first and only love.
Evie and Jack found love at a young age but circumstances separate them and even though life continues their hearts belong to each other. Jack and Evie’s connection is intense and their second chance is a perfect example of “Love gets you through everything”.
All the characters are realistic and lovable (well most of them) but even the ones that seem to irk me cause enough drama to peak my curiosity to want to know more about them.
I love that Mend takes place in a small town it just adds to the “feel-good” vibe that this story evokes in me. Chelle Bliss with her detailed writing and storytelling brings out my emotions and Mend deeply moved me.
If you love sentimental reads or just a beautiful love story then you need to read Mend.
This one is one that will suck you in thanks to the two characters Evie and Jack. You start reading their story with right away you become anxious because you know that this is soon to be a second chance story with it drilling a hole in your heart and filling it up with the emotions that will pour off the pages. Other characters like her bestie will keep your attention too. I will say that at times the leading up to moment after first contact you get impatient because you want to get into it so you can know what happened to begin with. It does unravel with bit by bit coming out what happened and where they go filling you also with the magic of them. By the time you get to the end of this one though I would like to see his partner come into his next lol.
This story was different from what I am used to from Chelle. I still loved the story and really enjoyed the sweeter side of things in this steamy romance.
Jake has lost his soul mate. She had moved away 6 years earlier due to a choice her father made. He must move on, but she is always in the back of his mind. What a shock to his system when she shows back up in their small home town.
Evie life has a funny way of bring you back to where it all began, can she accept her past and move on with her life even though she had to leave Jake 6 years ago. Returning to her home town never seemed like an easy thing to do, but she must
This is a stand alone novel that will have you wanting more
Mend is a second chance sweet and sexy romance and is Evie and Jack’s story. Jack and Evie were Boyfriend/Girlfriend while in school together. They just knew they would be together forever until…… Evie’s parents moved to her to Germany. Jack gets a “Dear John letter” and can’t believe it. She thought Jack never responded to any of her letters. All due to Evie’s parents interventions.
I loved Evan!!! He is Evie’s BFF. Evan has so much personality. And, Evie is lucky she has a BFF like Evan.
I enjoyed reading Mend. I give it 4 true romance stars and as per usual I can’t wait to see what is next.
Now I have, to tell you that I love Chelle Bliss’s writing. She wrote a Foreword that had me in tears. Two Thousand Seventeen (2017) was not a good year for her. I so hope 2018 will be better!
