The sexy, single dad of the MTF finally gets his turn…….Mason “Menace” Harrison“Single and ready to mingle……”Those are the words above every picture of almost every female that strikes my interest on this dating app my son talked me into getting. After being a single dad for seventeen years, I’m ready to spread my wings, just not with most of the co-eds who keep hitting on me and calling me … hitting on me and calling me daddy.
Now that Caleb’s in his Senior year of high school, I feel like I can let go of the iron-clad control I’ve had on myself without his Mom in our lives. I’ve enjoyed raising him, love the relationship we have, and while he went off the rails for a bit last year, we’re closer than we’ve ever been. He’s got a full ride to the University of Alabama, and I’ve settled into my spot with the Moonshine Task Force.
But my son doesn’t warm my bed, he isn’t someone I can share my dreams with, and he’s not the person I want to grow old with by my side. I’m not sure who that is yet, but the smokin’ hot lady going by the name BeachBum83 definitely has every single bit of my interest.
Karina Holland
“Looking for a good time, maybe more…..”
Those were the lamest words I ever typed in my life, but it was the best I had for the dating app my friend, Violet talked me into joining. I didn’t have any high hopes for myself. As a High School English teacher, I’m sick of pervy Dad’s hitting on me when they come in to discuss their child’s lack of motivation to read the classics and apply themselves.
Until the day Mason Harrison walks into my classroom. I had no idea Caleb’s Dad was the man I met off that dating app who showed me how flexible I really am in the back of his Jeep. Within minutes of the parent/teacher conference he proved the sparks weren’t one-time only when we christened my desk.
Mason and Caleb? They touch a part of my heart that no one’s ever touched before, and when a threat from the past shows up, I prove just how tough I really am.

“Menace” is a unique love story and filled my heart with warmth and love. It gave me a good feeling which lingers every time I remember the story.
Laramie Briscoe is fast becoming one of my favourite go-to author if I want sweet, relatively angst free and character driven books. After reading all the blurbs in this series, I jumped straight to Mason “Menace” Harrison because … sexy single dad stories is one of my favourite tropes. I didn’t feel out of sorts eventhough I didn’t read previous books as Ms Briscoe is an awesome writer.
Mason might be part of the special police force (MTF) but this book doesn’t go heavy on police procedures, it focuses on our couple which is Mason and Karina. I enjoyed reading how their relationship grow and blossomed. Ms Briscoe kept it as real as she could and I appreciate that she took her time letting us getting to know not only Mason and Karina but Caleb (Mason’s teenage son) as well.
If you’re looking for heart pumping, adrenaline jumping scenes then this is not the book for you. This book is more mellowed but it is helluva sexy and this makes a great reading companion when you want to have a long sexy soak in a bubbly tub with a glass of wine in your hand.
One of my favorites!
I loved the book and the characters! Great read!
This is my favorite of all the books in this series. Mason and Karina are perfect. I was cheering them on the entire time. Laramie Briscoe never disappoints. This was a beautifully heartfelt, and amazing story.
My My My I EFFING LOVED this book! This book by far is my favorite one. I love Mason and Caleb, the father son duo is amazing. First hats off to Mason for raising Caleb by himself and doing a great job. Yes Caleb gets into some trouble but for the most part he is a great kid. But Caleb loves his father and wants him to be happy so he convinces him to join a dating app and at first Mason is not so sure he should be doing it but then he decides to join and finds that he has a lot of request from women seeking daddies so Mason ignores all those date requests. Then he is intrigued by one request and when he answers it he goes out on a date with her and they have fun. Mason has never had so much fun but before you know it the night has ended.
Karina is a high school English teacher and she loves her job but she hates when her students fathers come in and try to get her to go to bed with them. Then she has a parent conference with Caleb’s dad when in walks her date that she had a wild time with and she knows right then and there that she wants Mason and is willing to do anything for him and Caleb. As trouble comes knocking on Mason and Caleb’s door Karina is there to show that person that she is not going anywhere and she is going to fight for Mason and Caleb.
Miss Laramie you have gone and done it again!! I do believe Menace is my favorite MTF agent yet. His story was well written and my heart just fell for him. Struggling as a teenage parent is hard enough, but to basically do it in your own is freaking amazing. He raised Caleb to be a responsible young man.
Now he meets Karina through a dating app. She has been burnt in the past and is terrified to let another man in. She is one of Caleb’s teacher and neither of them know it until he goes in and makes a speech for her class about careers. Karina steps up and does something no other woman has been able to do and that’s break down Mason’s walls. They form a family as they all test the waters on how to be. I love how everything falls into place for the two of them.
Again I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again looking forward to the next in the series.
I have been waiting for Menace the single father of the Moonshine Task Force (MTF) to get his story and it has blown my mind. I am hot for this dad even when he was just a secondary character in the last two MTF books. Menace became a dad when he was just 16 years old and he has been living his life for his son Caleb. So, when his son signs him up on a dating app he meets Karina and they have a night filled with intense chemistry like no other. Karina is coming off a relationship where her groom of course cheated on her days before the wedding, so she moves to Laurel Springs. When she signs up for the dating app she didn’t foresee meeting Mason(Menace) and being so attracted to him right out the gate that it made her scared. Menace does not give up on her and is constantly trying to get her to respond to his messages until he ends up in her classroom. He did not know she was his son’s teacher but that will not stop him from getting what he wants. From that day forward, they move at this intense pace that I did not see coming but can they move forward together and heal from their past.
I loved this book it gives you an intense pace of lust, romance, second chances, friendship and family. Laramie gave Menace and single fathers a voice in this novel and I could not have fallen more in love with Menace, Caleb and Karina. I love the chemistry the couple had because it did not seem forced and they both fell hard without even knowing it. Caleb was a great supporting character because of his love for his father and how all he wanted was to finally have Menace be happy with someone. Menace kind of reminded me of the silent alpha type whereas Karina reminds me of someone who knows what she wants and is honest about it. They will make you laugh, cry and get hot with want because their scenes will heat up the pages. Read the other books in the series so you can get to know Menace before he gets his voice. You will fall in love with Karina and Menace just as I have when you read their story.
»I’m just a guy, totally in love with a woman, who’s waited more years than most to start that part of his life. I’ve never felt like this for anyone else, knowing deep down that I’ll never feel like this for anyone ever again. Why wait, Rina? Why wait when I know I’m never going to love anyone else as much as i love you.«
Talk about swoon. Mason aka Menace is one hot single dad let me tell you. I haven’t read any of the other books in this series but I do need to rectify that ASAP. I loved everything about this story. I love the fact that he put his life on hold in order to raise his son. I loved how Karina is tough woman who isn’t, even after being hurt in the past closed off to the possibility of new love. Their chemistry was awesome. I really loved how much Caleb and Karina got along. And when the baby sister was placed in Caleb’s arms and he made his promise to her? Save to say you’re going to need a few tissues at hand.
My only problem with this story is her nickname for him: Big guy…I don’t know I just didn’t like it but it was sure better than calling him »daddy« like women before Karin tried to call him.
Easy 4* from me – bring on Caleb; I’m more than ready to see this »boy« getting his HEA

Every book in this series makes me fall more and more in love with the men of the MTF. Mason’s story was no exception. Mason, a young single dad, ready to take on a new phase of his own life. Karina looking for a change. The two instantly mesh and it makes for some of the mushiest, sweetest interactions between them and with Caleb. I laughed at the camaraderie between Mason and Caleb, especially regarding dating. Get ready to laugh and cry because this book had all the “feels” you expect from a Laramie Briscoe book, sweetness, sass, hotness and love.
In this fifth installment of the Moonshine Task Force we follow Mason “Menace” Harrison a single dad who is ready to find that someone special. My son Caleb has been my life along with the Moonshine Task Force, I would do anything for both of them. So when he signs me up for online dating. Unfortunately all he keeps finding are young women who want him to be their ‘daddy’ and he wants a real woman. I run into hot woman who knows what she wants, I am more than thrilled. When Karina Holland’s friend Violet talks her into signing up for online dating she knows this is not a good idea. When one of her “dates” happens to walk into her classroom and is the dad one of her students, parent teacher conferences have never been hotter. I feel in love with Mason, Caleb and Karina. I loved how they made this family that wasn’t expected. When trouble comes along, Menace will show what his name really means. Hot for teacher brings a whole new meaning. This series just keeps getting better with every book. Definitely a MUST READ!!!
“Let me give you everything I have. My Love, my heart, my last name.”
I loved this so damn much! This was my first book my Laramie Briscoe and first in the series. I didn’t know that was in a series when I decided to read it. The blurb grabbed my attention and I knew I wanted to read it.
Mason and Karina stole my heart with their story. I finished this with happy tears in my eyes and a smile on my face. I haven’t read a romance that got that kind of emotion from me in a WHILE.
I loved the idea of these two getting a second chance at love. Mason is a single dad who has a teenage son that is leaving for college soon and Karina got out of a terrible engagement. The first time these two met there were so many damn sparks flying that I just knew they were going to be great together.
Mason and Karina were not the only characters that I loved. Caleb warmed my heart so much! He was such a great kid. The relationship between him and Mason was amazing. I also liked how accepting he was of Karina into their lives. We have some other members from the MTF that were wonderful.
I will say that I did figure out the whole ordeal with the moonshine pretty early on in this book, but who cares. It sure didn’t deter me from devouring this.
All in all, I freakin’ loved it! It was so easy to give it 5 stars because it deserved nothing less. Great job Ms. Briscoe, and I will patiently ( not so patiently ) waiting for Caleb’s book!
Menace by Laramie Briscoe is the fifth book in her Moonshine Task Force series. Finally the story of single father Mason (AKA Menace) and the woman he finally allowed himself to fall for.
Mason has been dedicated to raising his son as best he can for over seventeen years. Caleb is now almost a grown man himself. With the family dynamic changing between these two and the recent troubles they made it through making them even closer, Caleb convinces his dad to start dating. Having found a match on a dating app, Menace takes a chance and finds more than he could have ever hoped for in Karina.
Karina is stepping out of her comfort bubble and somewhat self-imposed exile in Alabama and agrees to a date with a hot guy on a dating app. They spend a wonderful evening together talking and laughing and building the sexual chemistry and wind up having an explosive sexual interlude in the back of Mason’s Jeep. Little did she expect him to be the father of one of her students, but the relationship builds and grows from there.
Well-written, well-paced and just a fabulous read I have absolutely adored this series so far and am excited for the next book, Cruise. Enjoy!
This book made me so happy! I loved everything about it. Havoc was my favorite book, if I had to choose, but now it is definitely a close second to Menace. I was so looking forward to this book and what a book it was. The story was well written with all the feels that I wanted. It had humor, suspense, and most of all a touching story of a single dad with a high school senior that is finally going to take the time to look for that special someone to spend his life with. He devoted his life to his son and his job.
Mason and Karina had immediate chemistry and it was explosive. Mason knew right away he wanted more from this mysterious beauty. When they met on their date, courtesy of a dating app, all he knew was her name and number. He called, texted and all he got was silence from Karina. He knew she felt the strong pull they had but he just couldn’t understand why she was giving him the brush off. Karina also didn’t know much about Mason, but she did know that this man could break her heart. She was afraid. Boy oh boy the surprise when Mason shows up at the high school to give a talk to his son’s class and there is the woman of his dreams. Karina, Caleb’s teacher. Karina was surprised as she thought he had a young child. Mason became a father at 16 and didn’t look back. Even when Caleb’s mom walked away from them, Mason did the best he could to provide for his son, he was an amazing father and Karina was hooked.
Karina was the perfect match for Mason. She was beautiful, sweet, funny and she fell hard for Mason and Caleb. Even though she had a bad breakup with a cheating ex finance and her ex best friend, she left her home and family and settled in this small Alabama town to start over. Once Karina decided she was all in, she gave Mason and Caleb her all. It was a beautiful love story and it made me so happy that Caleb had grown up to be such a wonderful young man and that Mason finally found his HEA. If anyone deserved happiness, Mason and Karina did.
This by far is my favorite of the MTF and I can’t wait for the Caleb’s book. I think that Caleb’s story may surpass his dads! I highly recommend this book and this series!
A stunning and enthralling romance that’ll have your heart melting and your pulse racing…
Oh Menace, what have you done to me? I’m still swooning from this one. I love the Moonshine Task Force series. It’s one of my favourite special forces romance. Laramie always manages to mix the action and romance elements just right to suit not just her story, but also her characters. I’ve read quite a few of these romances where every single one of the heroes is the same alpha GI Joe type. However, Laramie Briscoe has give every one of her heroes such an individual character. They’re all alphas in their own ways, but they each have different qualities that make them who they are. For example; Holden/Havoc was soft, serious and intense whereas Anthony/Ace was patient, caring and humorous, and Mason/Menace was straightforward, fiery and sweet. These are all individual characters that on top of their individual traits are strong, protective, loyal and benevolent.
I found that this plot was little more focused on the romance rather than equally on the MTF storyline. It still has a small side plot that ties it to the series, but the big focus on this one is the romantic relationship as well as the father/son relationship. I have been dying for Mason’s story from the moment he was introduced in Havoc. At first it was mainly because of Caleb, but as I got to see more of them and their dynamic I just knew that Mason’s story was going to be something special. I really loved that although this story did tackle some darker feelings, that it maintained a steady and upbeat feel. I do think that this book lends more towards a romantic comedy than a romantic suspense like it’s predecessors. It also has more of an erotic feel to it, however it tells a a great story. The plot is sweet and seductive, but it’s also different to your standard single dad romance. I feel like I say this every time, but this is hands down one of my favourite books in the series. Laramie did such great job of opening up these characters to the reader, you really do feel like you know them on a personal level.
Like I said earlier, I’d been looking forward to getting to know these characters on a more personal level for a while and when Karina was introduced in Ace, I just knew that she and Mason were going to hit it off. Karina is really sassy and sultry, she’s exactly what I envisioned as a Southern Belle, but with buckets of grit and feistiness. I loved that she was as straightforward as Mason and that they just clicked. There was never that feeling that they had to work at being together. They were just so organic, in that they grew and blossomed around each other…they intertwined like trunks of closely planted trees. I found that their sexy banter had the perfect balance of swoon and humour, and that even their physical relationship was emotionally grounded. When it came to Mason I was in awe of the way in which he interacted with Caleb. Their relationship isn’t just that of a father and son, but also that of best-friends. The trust he invests in Caleb is incredible and it also reflects in that way he is open with him about Karina. Saying that, he also trusts her to understand how big a part of his life Caleb is and that he wants her to be a part of that. If that makes sense?
All in all Menace was just such an easy and wonderful read. It was an original take on the single dad trope and even though I figured out the MTF side-plot pretty early on, it didn’t make this story any less enthralling. I couldn’t put it down and every word had me excited for the next. It was just stunning! I really cannot wait for Caleb’s book—Cruise. I just know that the kid we’ve watched grow up is going to turn into an incredible man.
Gah. Laramie Briscoe killed me with this one. Seriously. I am dead. Nothing can beat this book. Laramie wins. Menace is perfection in book form. The writing is brilliant. The story is magnificent. Truly one of this most touching stories ever, Menace is more than a simple romance it’s a story of love and family that will hit you right in the feels.
Mason, aka Menace, is one of those heroes you can’t help but love. Strong, kindhearted, an incredible dad, and definitely sexy he checked every one of my boxes. The relationship between him and Karina was one that had me falling in love right along with them. These two were so darn sweet together! Butbwhat really stole the show at times was the family dynamic with Mason’s son Caleb.
Mason and Karina may have been the perfect couple, and trust me, they’ll have you melting, but the relationship between Mason and Caleb & Karina and Caleb had me tearing up in sheer happiness more than once. The loving family that was built in this book is enough to melt the coldest of hearts! I am so looking forward to Caleb’s book next!!!
I already knew I was going to love Menace. Having read this entire series I looked forward to his story for awhile now.
The single dad of the Moonshine Task Force, the man who always put his son first and himself last. Well, his sons 18 now and it’s time to think about himself just a bit!
Karina is a very single high school teacher. After having her fill of her students dads hitting on her she takes a friends advice and signs up for a dating app. This is where she meets Mason Harrison aka Menace.
They go out, have a great time, both thinking this dating thing might not be so bad.
And then Mason Harrison walks into her school, he’s the father of one of her students and she had no idea.
Things get a bit complicated but it’s nothing two adults can’t handle, right?
Menace & Caleb’s relationship was one of the most amazing parts of this story. I loved the dynamic between them, the love, the respect.
This is surely the book that I’ll want to talk about when asked about this series.
First I adored Renegade, then fell for Tank but Menace…he just made me forget all about the others (almost!)
Since I discovered the Moonshine Task Force series last year with Renegade, I’ve been desperate for Mason’s book, but Laramie still managed to blow my expectations out of the water! I loved it so hard!
Menace, Mason, is such an amazing and complex character. Firstly, who doesn’t swoon at single dad books? Mason is an amazing, selfless, dedicated dad that loves and defends his son so unconditionally that I got emotional reading it. Secondly, Mason is this gentle, kind, strong, loyal character that also happens to secretly be a MAJOR alpha.
I knew going into this book that I was more than a little in fangirl love with Mason, but the way Laramie develops him from previously being a background character to being the central focus of Menace, has made me love him more. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, it was intensely sexy with their explosive chemistry, and seeing the banter, loyalty and love between Mason and his son, Caleb, was beautiful to read.
Karina is a beautiful, strong and loving heroine that I instantly adored. She’s such a mothering, nurturing person and she’s exactly who Mason and Caleb always deserved as the mother figure in Caleb’s life. I also adore the firecracker personality she has, her ability to stand up for herself and her loved ones always. Her courage, especially that even though she was scared of falling in love again after what her ex-fiancé did, she took that leap of faith with Mason.
To summarise: perfection. There’s mystery, suspense aspects like with all the books in the series, that are executed to perfection. There’s hot and heavy, sexy scenes that are delectable and addictive. There’s beautiful characters you’ll warm to instantaneously and be willing to defend to the death. I’m completely sold on this book, and this series, it’s one of my favourite places to be and I can’t wait for Caleb’s book, which I really, really, really hope is a second chance love story between him and Jess because I absolutely ADORE her. Pretty please, Laramie?
This perfectly well rounded and developed novel is a must read this winter!
Absolutely Brilliant!!! I have read all the Moonshine Taskforce Books and I have to admit I have been waiting for Menace’s story. He is a single dad that has devoted his entire life to raising his son. A son that had his mother walk out on him when he was 2 and never look back. A son that was born when Menace himself was just sixteen. But raise him he did and they both turned into fine men (which we know via the first book in the series). But this book gives us a lot of the details of the life Menace has had for the past 18 years with Caleb but concentrates on the present. Now that Caleb is a senior in high school it’s time for Menace to have a personal life and hopefully find someone to spend the lonely nights with. But where does a guy in his early 30’s meet a good woman in a small town. Well according to Caleb you sign up on a dating app.; so that is just what Menace does. However only one reply (out of a lot of replies) catches his eye. But after a whopper of a first date she ghosts him, and Menace has no idea who she is, only that her first name is Katrina and he want to see her again.
Ms. Briscoe has totally outdone herself on this one. Her flare for storylines with romance, suspense, thrills and humor shine in Menace. I found myself, smiling, laughing, sighing, worrying and even tearing up a few times as I read this book. The book is funny, sexy and exciting! It’s definitely a 5 star read in a 5 star series. I highly recommend both the Moonshine Taskforce series and Menace and I am super exciting and anxiously awaiting Caleb’s story.
