Few dared live as close to the border as us. Not even the long-standing peace treaty between our two nations could make people forget how the savage Men of the North used to hunt down and kidnap women here centuries ago.If only Devina hadn’t been so damned curious by nature, she would have never picked up that letter thrown across the Northern wall. Now, she is horrified to see that it’s from a … that it’s from a teenage girl who is only weeks away from being auctioned off in a bridal tournament. With no time to waste, Devina is determined to help the girl escape, even if it means putting herself in danger and finding a way into the dangerous Northlands.
Forbidden Letters is a stand-alone prequel to Elin Peer’s wildly popular dystopian romance series, Men of the North which takes place in the future where a female council rule the entire world, except for an area in the North where a group of strong alpha males are in control.

“I couldn’t get enough! I cried…I shoved my husband to tell him what just happened…I talked to friends about it who never read any of the other stories and everyone was interested in the premise. PLEASE take a chance to this series…it is so wonderful!” Jessica Dion
“OMG!!! I say the same thing about every book in men of the North. You are captivated from beginning to end! Elin Peer is a brilliant writer and this book is no different. You go through every emotion imaginable as you are absorbed in her story telling. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE SERIES!” Barbara W

OMG! This story is amazing Devina is a compelling strong spirited woman that is determined. She took a risk and got an adventure. She and Tyton makes for an intriguing story that takes you along for the ride. It captivates from the first and all the way to the last page. I hate to see this series end because it was well written with dynamic characters and you really feel like you can identify with them and the stories. You get that feeling like you are right there in the story and you can grasp the characters or touch the elements of the story. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this story for an honest review.
It pains me to rate this 4 stars but this one just didn’t meet my expectations. I felt it was to similar to the old Romeo and Juliet in the sense two people from different paths of life who cant be together. And I think that why I was let down by it.
I loved the story in a story vibe that it had going on it. I loved the correlation between the two tales. While the plot kept me reading because I had to know the ending ( that is a good thing when you have to know the ending) I cant say I was so pleased with it.
I think this will be great for those new to the series, but for me given that I read the entire series, I was holding out for a different ending than the others. But it followed the same path. I was eager for more.
I also found the intimate scenes be lacking. While they were well written I just felt like that extra umph that was received in the other 10 books just wasn’t as comparable.
I however did love finding out more about the NWomen and the hidden strengths they have over their men. I devoured the more in depth look into both worlds, the pros and cons showed more vividly in the prequel more so than any other book.
A prequel to a wonderful series Forbidden Letters is the last book in the series but is actually written and the prequel. It tells about what the next books are written about in the men of the north. This was a wonderful story and gives insight into the rest. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Elin Peer has done it again! This story actually goes back to how the Men of the North and the Motlanders originally get together. Imagine a letter in a bottle thrown over a fence being found, a correspondence being carried on leading to writing a book in collaboration. A meeting happens, two people fall in love, a tournament for a 15 year old girl. I could tell you more but I don’t want to spoil the story for you. The story line is superb. The characters are extremely well written. Ms. Peer is at her best in this book. I can’t wait to see what she writes next.
Where to start with this review. This is the prequel to the “Men of the North” series and yet, because her fans couldn’t let go, Elin Peer wrote one more. That being said, I read this after reading the entire series and even knowing the previous characters and the histories between the North and the Motherland, this one humbled me. If you’ve never read this series, you’re doing yourself an injustice. It’s like nothing else you’ve ever read and yet it has all the elements needed to fit what will later on, I’m convinced, to become a classic in the truest sense of the word. As I write this, with tears in my eyes and a knot in my throat, I have the very beginning of the story; one that took place two hundred years before the series begins and yet I don’t want to let go. That’s the sign of a brilliant author. Congratulations.
This prequel will be the best ending to any series of 2019!
I have thought for a while about what to write that could come close to how I feel about this book and this series. I fell in love with the Men of the North over the course of a whole month where I read the 10-book series one after the other. I was devastated when it was over…nothing compared to living in the Northlands or visiting the Motherlands. I wanted just one more story. Elin listened to her fans and wrote just one more…Forbidden Letters. This is a story about writing a book. This book is referenced in The Men of the North series several times. While it is a prequel, I recommend reading this after the rest of the series so you understand more of the structure of this dystopian world. I couldn’t get enough! I cried…I shoved my husband to tell him what just happened…I talked to friends about it who never read any of the other stories and everyone was interested in the premise. PLEASE take a chance to this series…it is so wonderful!
