This “impossible to put down” #1 New York Times bestseller introduces Amos Decker, a gifted police detective with a perfect memory who must solve a mystery he wishes he could forget: his family’s murder (Washington Post). Amos Decker’s life changed forever–twice. The first time was on the gridiron. A big, towering athlete, he was the only person from his hometown of Burlington ever to play in … hometown of Burlington ever to play in the NFL. But his career ended before it had a chance to begin. On his very first play, a violent helmet-to-helmet collision knocked him off the field forever, and left him with an improbable side effect–he can forget nothing.
The second time was at home nearly two decades later. Now a police detective, Decker returned from a stakeout one evening and entered a nightmare–his wife, young daughter, and brother-in-law had been murdered.
His family destroyed, their killer’s identity as mysterious as the motive behind the crime, and unable to forget a single detail from that horrible night, Decker finds his world collapsing around him. He leaves the police force, loses his home, and winds up on the street, taking piecemeal jobs as a private investigator when he can.
But over a year later, a man turns himself in to the police and confesses to the murders. At the same time a horrific event nearly brings Burlington to its knees, and Decker is called back in to help with this investigation. Decker also seizes his chance to learn what really happened to his family that night. To uncover the stunning truth, he must use his remarkable gifts and confront the burdens that go along with them. He must endure the memories he would much rather forget. And he may have to make the ultimate sacrifice.
Memory Man will stay with you long after the turn of the final page.

Best Series Ever
Up to authors usual standard – excellent. Audiobook is well performed.
This is about a man who has a photographic memory that he got as a result of an accident that killed his wife and child.
Baldacci is an author who’s work I have admired, which gave me enough reason to read Memory Man. Once into the book I realized he had hit a home run with his new character and have read every book in this series. Highly recommended.
appreciate his action packed story with clean language.
Awesome book! Amos Decker is one of my favorites. Have recommended to several people and they enjoyed it too!
Amos Decker is a great, complex character.
Awesome!
I would like to know someone like Decker.
A new character from Baldacci with enormous appeal.
I really liked it & looking for more.
Would like to give 3 and a half stars. Not my favorite but glad I read it first to get the backstory on Amos Decker. I recommend.
Have read all the memory man books and they are wonderful and exciting stories. Amos Decker is a fabulous character
I was kept thinking I know who did this but continued to be wrong and had to start all over, a great read.
Kept my interest throughout.
My favorite recent read!
Interesting quirk for a protagonist, but – and I get it, considering – he seems to whine about an awful lot.
Throughtout the entire book there is this one over-arching, ubiquitous theme: While you might be thinking we could be friends, know that I am deeply troubled and super sad ‘cuz of, well, really bad things, and have this accursed memory thing. That I am also super sad about it. Did you find a great clue to our mystery? How nice for you. Just remember that I can never forget. And GAWD, I have so much I wish I could. See? Super sad.
That’s either truly poor editing (how many times can he remind us? how many?) or truly amazing writing (I was both interested in the guy and absolutely sure that I wouldn’t be able to stand being near him for any length of time).
I could not put it down. It grabs you and will not stop. One of the best !!
He is one of my favorite writers
Amos Decker is an awesome character, read all the books he is main or supporting in the story line
