This “impossible to put down” #1 New York Times bestseller introduces Amos Decker, a gifted police detective with a perfect memory who must solve a mystery he wishes he could forget: his family’s murder (Washington Post). Amos Decker’s life changed forever–twice. The first time was on the gridiron. A big, towering athlete, he was the only person from his hometown of Burlington ever to play in … hometown of Burlington ever to play in the NFL. But his career ended before it had a chance to begin. On his very first play, a violent helmet-to-helmet collision knocked him off the field forever, and left him with an improbable side effect–he can forget nothing.
The second time was at home nearly two decades later. Now a police detective, Decker returned from a stakeout one evening and entered a nightmare–his wife, young daughter, and brother-in-law had been murdered.
His family destroyed, their killer’s identity as mysterious as the motive behind the crime, and unable to forget a single detail from that horrible night, Decker finds his world collapsing around him. He leaves the police force, loses his home, and winds up on the street, taking piecemeal jobs as a private investigator when he can.
But over a year later, a man turns himself in to the police and confesses to the murders. At the same time a horrific event nearly brings Burlington to its knees, and Decker is called back in to help with this investigation. Decker also seizes his chance to learn what really happened to his family that night. To uncover the stunning truth, he must use his remarkable gifts and confront the burdens that go along with them. He must endure the memories he would much rather forget. And he may have to make the ultimate sacrifice.
Memory Man will stay with you long after the turn of the final page.

Intense story line, great characters. Kept me reading to the end.
By now you’ve heard the idea that we humans only use about ten percent of our brains. Baldacci’s main character – Amos Decker – gets to see what it is like to use much more than that. Due to a bone crushing hit suffered in his first NFL game, Decker is able to remember absolutely every second of his life thereafter. So, you can imagine that the …
I could not put his one down and have read the others featuring the main character, Amos Decker. Baldacci has a wonderful, imaginative writing gift and kept me in suspense until the last page.
I have read all the books in this series and they are all excellent. Very well written with an interesting new personality as the main character.
Good book and series
Interesting reading. Like able scharacters. Learned something new.
I love every book by David Baldacci!
Really interesting main character. Really entertaining plot. Excruciatngly twisty sequence of events. Kept me riveted throughout.
Great premise for a book. Yet the premise is a great addition to the plot, not a crutch for poor writing.
A character with a flaw or asset, depending. Hero’s journey done well.
Baldacci always write a great book. Can’t wait to read the next in this series.
Edge of seat reading and unpredictability
This is the first book I had read by Baldacci and I was hooked. Reading my way through this series.
Terrific
I enjoy ALL of David B’s Books
Excellent read as always for David Baldicci
Liked the book and can’t wait to read more with this character .
You can’t go wrong with Baldacci and his “Memory Man” series is great. I’m patiently waiting for the next installment.
I enjoyed this book. The main character is as damaged as they come, plus the supporting characters all have quirks about them that make them compelling and different. The story did seem to get a wee bit tedious at the end when it seemed it was going in circles without moving forward, but it didn’t last long. The book has a satisfying ending and …
Loved this book it had me from the very beginning.
Memory Man is the first in a series by Baldacchi that centers on a man with an unusual talent that is both a blessing and a curse. Had me hooked from the first page!
