A fantastic romantic mystery filled with extraordinary surprises!
Disarray Series Box Set Book 3/Prequel – Memories Recalled (AKA Anamnesis): I wondered about it being the third book of the boxed set; but not any longer, it is a perfect complement to the series as it presents Mia’s background story. I understand her motivations so much better now. Even though it is labeled as a “prequel”, I recommend reading the first two books before this book.
It is so hard to leave a review for a really great story without sharing any spoilers. First, I want to say that I respect an author that has a developed vocabulary and does not litter the book with foul and abusive language. Jessie Cal is a new author to me that I added to my favorite author’s list.
So, let me share what I liked about this book in general terms: a suspenseful and thrilling story, an abundance of mysterious romantic connections, a clean drama filled with intriguing and unexpected surprises, a book that is hard to put down-even to sleep.
Book 2 in this series is actually the prequel. It fills in some of the gaps from Disarray and, yet, it doesn’t. There are still more questions than answers! The heroine continues to be brave and smart, in spite of all that has happened to her. Who is the real bad guy? How does the main character, Mia, determine who can be trusted? I walked away from this story understanding more and yet wanting more. On to book three, apparently the last one in the series, though I hope not!
After reading book 1& now this one I am not sure which one should be read first. This one explains about how Mia’s life started out. It helps explain better how things are in Disarray. It’s a really wild story. I don’t know where Jessica Cal thought up this series. It’s way out & rather scary if it could happen. Now I have to reread book3 to remember how it all ends.
We left Mia and Hugh at the end of the last book. Instead of moving forward, we get a lot of the gaps filled in. The twists and turns continue. Just when you think it’s all getting settled, another issue arises. You’ll want to read it after book 1. If you like romantic suspense stories with endless threads, you’ll love this.
Well there may be some good stuff in this book of the series but it is buried in redundancy. Unfortunately there are very few new details just a retelling of everything she remembered when she got her memory back but in real time. I got the boxset so I finished it. I loved the first and third books but this one just felt like it was a waste but I am so glad I didn’t let it stop me from reading the third book.
This is a prequel to Disarray. It actually goes back 8 months prior and explains how Mia got in that predicament of losing her memory in the first place. I didn’t think I was going to like going back in time, but BOY WAS I WRONG! This book contains just as much suspense as the first, yet with an entirely different premise which felt fresh and exciting! There’s also A LOT MORE ROMANCE than the first. Her desire for Ethan was so strong, it made more than my skin tingle. Lol. I loved them together. Everything about their relationship… I just couldn’t get enough. He’s the guy she’s meant to be with. Period.
When Hugh comes in the picture, you think it’s going to turn into a love triangle, but it doesn’t. Despite their strong bond, they are nothing but friends, and I really loved that about their relationship. Together they’re trying to figure out how to get her brother out of jail. Hugh knows more then he’s letting on, but as his friendship with Mia strengthens, so does his loyalty to her. And that’s when he starts to realize who is the real enemy. But you don’t poke the bear without consequences, and because Mia is the type to risk everything to get what she wants… it costs her relationship with Ethan, and she ends up losing her memory.
The ending was heart-wrenching, but because you already know how everything turns out in book 1, you heal fast. And on to book 3! I can’t wait to see Mia charge after her enemies to make them pay for everything they’ve done to her!
Friends to lovers is my favorite trope so points for that. I loved going back and getting all the details about Mia’s life. It was amazingly written. Bravo.
Book two is a prequel to book one, so it’s a must read if you wanna get all the answers as to how Mia ended up in Cooper Creek to begin with. What I enjoyed most about this book is that although it answers many questions from book one, it is an “entirely different” book! It has it’s own plot and a different focus entirely. Whereas book one focused on her relationship with Hugh, book two focuses on her relationship with Ethan–and who he “really” is. But what’s awesome is that neither of these men are the reason why Mia ended up losing her memory. This book also goes into her family–and there lies the reason. So so good! Can’t wait to read book 3!!
Readers will be truly affected by Mia’s real story once it’s revealed—and they’ll be satisfied by the hopeful ending. Jessie demonstrates once again that she has what it takes to genuinely shock, surprise and move her readers. Bravo!
