A fantastic romantic mystery filled with extraordinary surprises!
Book 1 – Memories Lost: Mia, Hugh, Ethan, and Sophia are wonderful characters woven into an engaging and entertaining story of mystery and romance.
It is so hard to leave a review for a really great story without sharing any spoilers. First, I want to say that I respect an author that has a developed vocabulary and does not litter the book with foul and abusive language. Jessie Cal is a new author to me that I added to my favorite author’s list.
So, let me share what I liked about this book in general terms: a suspenseful and thrilling story, an abundance of mysterious romantic connections, a clean drama filled with intriguing and unexpected surprises, a book that is hard to put down-even to sleep.
The opening sentence was a gotcha and not letting go!!
At first pages had to turn slowly, rereading completely confused, not able to grasp meaning, then fly to keep up with the characters, who to trust and twists, what’s true.
The story was obscure and mysterious from first page to the last and Disarray was an excellent goodread. A must read for mystery fans that enjoy guessing who or what!
In Disarray definitely guessing who and what!
Well hells bells if that aint about a twisted tale. This author had a lot going on and yeah for a minute I was absolutely thoroughly lost. But, yes there is a but, it wasn’t the bad kinda lost it was a what in the hell is this author doing kinda lost, which is totally alright. This author has some great characters and awesome twist going on throughout the story. Each time pieces are revealed you find yourself saying okay that works now where to from here. She also loves leading you down false paths so watch out for the traps. Yes there is a cliff hanger but thank goodness the rest of the series is out and I won’t have to suffer for long. A great clean read that will definitely have you pouring a drink and slamming it. I am new to this author and I love her style I will see if the rest of the series keeps me on edge like the first one did.
What a great book! I loved it. It kept me guessing. The characters were great. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Any story that starts with amnesia piques my interest. Buckle up because this story has so many twists and turns you will be dizzy! It’s like riding the world’s best roller coaster. The questions keep piling up without any answers in sight. Add to that mix the unending secrets. And who does, Mia, the main character, trust? Which guy is the “good guy,” if there is one? If you’re a fan of thriller suspense books, you will not be disappointed. Now, on to book two in the series!
We meet Mia as she’s crawling out of a lake in the middle of the night. She sleepwalks because her mind is trying to remember her past, and why she ends up in different places is a mystery to her. The real mystery, however, is the tattoo she has on her ring finger. What does it mean? We really feel for her as she goes on trying her best to make it through. Until, of course, Ethan shows up to rattle her memories, literally. He shows her how to trigger back her memories. Why is he helping her? Yes, he has his reasons. And those reasons will blow your mind!
As the story unfolds, and she starts to remember her past, it doesn’t match the life she’s been living. It doesn’t match the husband she’s been married to. Then things get even more complicated because we just don’t know who she can trust. And that’s the most exciting part of this story. Just when you think you can trust someone, the plots thickens. Then, suddenly, she has a seizure and remembering any more could cause damage to her brain. And her husband is more than happy about it, but why? He also has his secrets.
I love that Mia is a strong female character who goes after what she wants, even if it costs her everything. If you enjoy plot twists, you will enjoy EVERY SINGLE PAGE of this story. It’s not only an amazing read, but very unpredictable. Every twist will blow you away!
Outstanding read.
I really really loved this book. The plot is outstanding! There are so many plot twists it made me bite off all of my nails! It’s fast paced, intriguing, and just when you think you can trust someone, you’re wrong! Mia is a strong character and very likable. Victor is super funny and his jokes and wittiness really lifts up the mood. Book two is a prequel which explains book one. You have to read both. Can’t wait for book 3!!
Jessie teases out her twisty plot at just the right pace, leaving readers on the edge of their seats. Her multilayered characters are sheer perfection, and even the most astute suspense reader won’t see where everything is going until the final threads are unknotted. Those few who do guess early won’t mind, as the pace and prose will keep them hooked!
I started with this one but it is very confusing to me all the way through. It has so many twists & turns. Hard to keep track of who’s good & who’s not not. Also hard to fathom that mind control could really happen. Now days anything is possible I guess. Now on to book 2 to get the background on Mia’s life.
Mia suffers from amnesia since an auto accident. She doesn’t remember anything, even her husband Hugh. But most disturbing to her is the constant dreams that feel like memories. Fast and exciting read that never lets up from the beginning.
How do you cope when you have no memory of your past but you think your dreams are actually memories. This is the situation Mia finds herself in. This book is filled with suspense, just when you think you have it figured out everything changes, and then the ending leaves you completely confused and dying for book 2. I loved this book it has lots of emotion and plot twists, the characters are great and you are left just wanting more.
Couldn’t decided what was going to happen next or what was going on. Was not able to guess ending on this one. Did suspect one of the bad guys but most of the story was a surprise. Makes you wonder if something like what they were doing could be happening. Mystery with a little humor. Couldn’t decide who I wanted to me a couple.
Wow this is an amazing read. Right when you star reading this world of Mias pulls you in. She doesn’t have her memory. And when she sleep walks things are different to her. Can she find the answers and the secrets others are hiding. A fast past read. It is a real page turner, that I didn’t want to put down. I definitely recommend this read

Memories Lost: A Thrilling Romantic Suspense (Disarray Series – Book 1), my first oh-so-enjoyable read from author Jessie Cal. Well-written with intriguing characters. 5-hours 16-minute/269-pages. Sometimes a book is just so enjoyable, so spine-tingling, so page-turning, wait no spoilers here, buy the book, read & review the book. I was given an Audible copy of this book back in May & am just getting around to listening to it. I’m voluntarily reading & reviewing it. Emma Faye’s on-the-edge=of-panic narration adds to the book’s enjoyment. I can’t wait for the next book Memories Restored: A Thrilling Romantic Suspense (Disarray Series – Book 2). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
I had a hard time getting into this. Some of it was very interesting and there was a lot to keep you guessing. However, it seemed to go on too long and I got bogged down in it. I finally skipped ahead several chapters to the ending which is something I rarely do. It just wasn’t for me.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.
