THE ENIGMATIC GOVERNESS OF BUFORD MANOR – 5 Stars
What a story!!! Filled with heartache, betrayal, danger, murder, love, loyalty and devotion. This is a fascinating read. It is extremely well written, describing everything in detail as to what was happening at that moment. The characters are well developed and had from sweet to loathsome personalities. The story itself drew me in from page one and kept my interest and attention throughout the book. Rose Parsons, her life was about to change for the worse before it became better. She lost her husband at sea. She could not afford where she was for much longer when her beloved friends and neighbors John and Bridget Boyle came with a letter and offer of employment for her as a governess at Buford Manor. It was the home of the Duke and Duchess of Buford, their son Nicholas, the Marquess of Rutland and Lord and Lady Arlington, whom were just children. So much transpired when she arrived at Buford. Her past came to haunt her. Evil was a foot in the Manor. At the same time Nicholas and Rose were developing an attachment. This is an exciting read that I highly recommend. Do not let this pass you by.
AN UNUSUAL LADY FOR THE TORMENTED DUKE – 5 Stars
What an exciting, thrilling and emotional Regency romance. I loved the plotline. It is different than most books and I really enjoyed reading it. The characters are well written. It was easy to identify with them. We have the main two characters, the hero and heroine, Edward, the third Duke of Blessington and Honora Burney., the daughter of a extremely wealthy merchant. these two carry the story from page one till the end. It was hard to put the book down. It took about three to four hours to read. It has a smooth pace. My anticipation for the book was well rewarded by reading from beginning to the end. There is intrigue, deception, betrayal, sadness (I almost cried at some parts). There is also mystery, suspicion, rumors, death, revenge. love , happiness and sweet romance.
The supporting characters were essential to the telling of the tale.
We have Benedict Carter, dear friend and advisor to the Duke, who was loyal to a fault. Perhaps taking matters into his own hands instead of always talking with Edward about things. Benedict’s father and grandfather served the prior Dukes of Blessington. Sarah Borthwick, a dear childhood friend of the Duke and former fiancée. Sarah’s willful and hotheaded father, Abraham and his dubious brother Walter. Abraham and Walter served the Baron of Cloverfield and his wife Emily. Their estate was nearby the Dukes
THE REDEMPTION OF THE SCARED DUCHESS – 5 Stars
This story could have been an episode of the hit TV series “Columbo” (if any are old enough to remember). Dangerous things were happening and the clues to the truth were hard to find and solve. I enjoyed reading every page. I could see the emotions on the faces of the characters and feel their realistic feelings. There was a lot going on in the story. There was the difficult romance between Juliana and Martin. There was also the fact that someone was trying to kill Martin and or Juliana. But they had no clue who would want that and how many were involved. Then there was Juliana’s father trying to force her to marry Martin’s younger brother (a creep) Cecil. Her father was furious when Juliana refused. He threatened those she loved to gain her compliance. But she had her heart set on Martin. When Cecil made his evil move to have Martin committed as insane into Newgate, Juliana knew she had to all she could to save him. She and her two older sisters have never been close but somehow, they came together to help Martin. A real page turner full of tension, suspense, danger, misunderstandings, lies, scandals and reconciliations of more than one family. A beautiful story of love and determination regardless of the cost. I highly recommend it.
