Well written, unputdownable and super steamy!
New subscriber to Audible here. I got lured by their special offer and I’m asking myself why I did not do this sooner.
Melt for Him was the first book I listen to. Felt like ‘rereading’ a book was a good place to start. I was drooling over the delectable tones of Joe Arden and Erin Mallon. I completely understand why these narrators are favorites of authors and listeners alike.
Becker and Megan were smokin’ hot together!
Both were emotionally scarred from past events which prevented either of them from wanting to be in a relationship. They shared immediate chemistry which leads to a steamy one-night stand resulting in them both wanting more. When they discover that Becker works with Megan’s brother, it causes them to put everything on hold.
The connection that Becker and Megan share is fantastic. As much as they tried to stay away from each other, they could not and it was fun to see them try to fight it.
Coming together also helped heal them both of their past trauma. Megan’s heartfelt conversation with her mother was raw and endearing.
This book is part of a series but can absolutely be read (or listen to) as a standalone.
Hot steamy HEA. No great surprises but who cares!! Great narration.
Hmm I am not sure what I really think about this book just yet, I am letting it sink in a little as I type this.
I liked the chemistry Becker and Megan have its HOT and that is kind of fitting for this book.
I like that they were honest with each other even if it was uncomfortable I am a sucker for honesty. There were a few lies told but not between Megan and Becker.
I wasn’t a fan of the way Megan comes to see how much she needed Becker I guess I expected her to talk things out and yes in a way she does. I don’t know that part just irked me but I digress. I did like the way Becker gave her the time she needed though that truly was a highlight for me.
I am excited for Consumed by You.
Great narration Joe and Erin are top notch!
A sexy, entertaining, and witty story. I enjoyed it
Love this author
Sexy read
I really enjoyed this heartfelt story about two people originally afraid to care about another person, but hey came together anyway. Steamy! Enjoyable!
The main character was kind of dumb and the guy had this whole martyr vibe that was a turn off
Loved Megan and Becker’s story. They were both a little broken, but healed eCh other.
The story began with chemistry that the couple acted upon. It was the way they met that puts a grin on your face while you read. He had a past of tragedy, but she did too. He’s a firefighter and with that job, as there is with war, there can be loss of the men you fight with. Lauren captured the emotional scars men often experience from fighting a fire that can’t be won. She also showed the side of a family who had to live from the loss of their loved one and how it effects their life. The only doubt I have about the book is the constant sex. Some love it. It is well written, but too much can make it become like filler resulting in skimming to get back to the story. Which I did.
I struggle with the hot firefighter trope since so many of the men in my family are firefighters. It’s a bit hard to picture hot sexy firefighters when your father, grandfather, and uncles do the same job. I feel that I need to overcome that since there are so many good books within this trope. I do know a thing or two about it since I practically grew up in the firehouse. Like I would literally just hang out there even while dad was out at a fire. The dispatcher and I became good friends. I understood Megan’s fears. I have the same ones even though my father didn’t die in a fire. He did come home injured quite a few times and even had severe burns. Blakely depicted Megan’s fears and insecurities perfectly.
Megan lives a wonderlust life moving from town to town and job to job. The one thing she always comes back to–her art…ok two. Art and her family. Her brother, Travis and Megan had to care for each other after their father was killed fighting a fire. It left their mother broken for many years. That formed an unbreakable bond between the siblings. Each sibling gained something from that experience. Travis wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps to be a firefighter. Megan vowed to never fall in love with one. One kept their promise. The other broke it.
Becker left Chicago after two of his buddies died right beside him. He has carried that survivor’s baggage with him ever since. He moved to Hidden Oaks to start over. He opens a bar. He keeps going back to his true passion. Being a firefighter. He volunteers at the local fire department where he finds a new family. One night with a sexy stranger puts all that in jeopardy especially his friendship with Travis.
Megan was hurt badly – first by a dad that died on the job and then by her mother who checked out after his death – leaving her and her brother to fend for themselves. She’s passing through her hometown on the way to a job in Portland. She hooks up with bar owner, Becker and they both want seconds. Until the next day when she learns she slept with her brother’s best friend and fellow fire fighter. Megan swore off fire fighters because of her past but both she and Becker are figuring out there is more between them then great sex.
I only got through 3 chapters. So boring
While this book is well written, I didn’t particularly care for Megan, an aspiring tattoo artist. She’s a runner; when things get hard she rather bolt than talk. Becker has his issues too, but he tends to be truthful. What bothered me the most was that Becker was Megan’s brother’s best friend. In true fashion, he told them they couldn’t be together. They’re not young adults, they’re adults! Who cares what the brother thinks!
Interesting story of how plans change when two people unexpectedly fall for each other.
I always enjoy Lauren Blakeley’s writing . She writes interesting characters, with fewer cliches than many romance writers. I especially enjoy her strong women coming together with strong men. Meg is a strong but scarred woman, whose fears are very believable. His overcoming his fears was a little too easy for what he’d been through, but acceptable. Though, the cliche I really hate is epilogues that end with immediate marriage and babies. That’s not the only satisfactory HEA. And it’s crazy to add a baby to a new relationship, particularly when the adults still have a lot of issues. The most easy fun and time to just enjoy each other in a marriage or relationsip is before children, so don’t rush really young people into having kids in 6 mo or a year or two.
Excellent book!!
Great book.
I really enjoyed this book and read it too fast. I was disappointed it ended so fast.
