Yet in the deepest levels of Hell lies a secret that could hold their salvation.Eternal damnation awaits any angel who descends into the Pit of Despair, but Mel will move Heaven and Earth to save Lucifer’s soul. Armed with … Lucifer’s soul. Armed with little more than the fury of a righteous angel, Mel will raise Hell in the name of love.
From the heights of Heaven to the depths of Hell, can love truly conquer all?
A tiny taste of what’s in store:
“Heaven won’t help you if you stand in my way. From HELL Corporation to the Pit itself. Now, more than ever, it’s time for me to go to Hell.”
With barely a gold shimmer in the air, she was gone.
“What do we do now?” Peter asked Michael.
“Pray,” Michael replied. “I’d prefer to let a hundred demons into Heaven, with my blessing, than agree to let Mel go to Hell.”
“Why did you let her go, then?” Peter persisted.
Michael’s laughter was hollow. “Nothing can stop her from fulfilling her destiny. Not you, not me, not Raphael. Not even all the forces of Heaven combined.”
“What about the forces of Hell?”
Michael closed his eyes in defeat. “We’re about to find out, aren’t we?”

As expected Mel, Lady Muriel of Hashmallim, is the central character and she is fabulous. Luce, Lucifer, make a compelling Lord of Hell. Both have doubts. Both are imperfect. But Mel’s ability to love and forgive truly knows no bounds. The ending was unexpected but does not seem out of all likelihood. I look forward to reading what follows.
I received a copy of this book as a gift. This is my honest review.
More Mel and Luce adventures. No spoilers, but if you enjoyed the earlier books in the series you will like this one.
This was good read. I liked the mixed mythologies in the story. The story had some serious/sad undertones but is mostly lighthearted and entertaining. I like Mel’s strength. She traversed the many levels of Hell to find Luce and bring him home. She not only sees but feels the sorrows and horrors of the tortured souls. It takes a toll on her but she stays strong. Along the way she makes a few allies, winning them over with her compassionate and persuasive ways. There were a few moments where Mel started to feel some despair but her Love for Luce gave her strength and reinforced her determination to find him, to save him.(3.5)
Oh. My. Dear. Lord. I am do ever loving Demelza Carlton’s Mel Goes to Hell Series and now we get to the eponymous novel, Mel Goes to Hell (technically Book 3), which picks up right after the ending of Book 2 (you are strongly urged to read the first two books before this one – they are more than worth it, and Book 1 is free on Amazon right now). Mel and Luce (yes, that’s Lucifer to you) and back and boy oh boy is this angel-devil pairing superb. Really this whole series is. Read the publisher’s blurb. If it at all tickles your interest I can pretty much guarantee you’ll love these books. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
This was an entertaining, well-written book. Lucifer falls for an angel, Mel, who would move Heaven and Earth to save Lucifer’s soul. Mel literally journeys through Hell to save Lucifer. This book was imaginative and, well, fun! I enjoyed it and would recommend the author, the book and the series to others.
This was such a fun read that I read it in one seating. I love how well the author portrayed their characters personalities
Mel decides to go to hell and get Luce back. Good read can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
Mel literally goes to Hell in this book. She sees lots of people she knows, either from Hell Corp or from long ago. Mel goes through all 9 levels of Hell and each time she finds a way to get that person to like her. She does this by being her lovable self. Mel is one determined woman and nothing with stand her way even Luce. I said in the last book that I didn’t like that it wasn’t both Luce and Mel’s point of view, well I am happy to report that this book goes back and forth between their views. Can’t wait to see what these 2 get up to next.
*I received a free copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
This is the third book in the series and it continues Mel’s adventures. Lucifer and Mel’s romcom is entertaining and you can’t help but laugh. Mel’s trip though Hell is an interesting mix of encounters with characters from mythology and history, there are also cameo appearances from characters from earlier books. Just sit back and enjoy the ride and don’t take any of it too seriously.
As usual with series, it’s most enjoyable to start at the beginning The Devil’s Work, then Welcome to Hell: A Short Story (Mel Goes to Hell Series Book 1), then See You in Hell (Mel Goes to Hell Series Book 2). Very true of this series. I loved the notion that Lucifer can be redeemed by love. I was surprised by the overt sensuality and sexuality of Mel, who is definitely female; not one of your typical Angels, who are masculine!
The book opens with Luce and Mel, together the next morning immediately after the surprise ending of See You in Hell (Mel Goes to Hell Series Book 2), as they try to figure out what to do about their new relationship. Luce is totally overcome by his love for Mel. Mel decides to ask that Luce be redeemed, so goes to Heaven, accompanied by Luce against her better judgment. A terrible accident! And blaming himself, Luce banishes himself to Hell. Mel decides to rescue him, “A naked angel, taking on all the forces of Hell to claim their leader.” She seeks help from demons along the way, many of whom she recognizes from times past. We learn why Mel has never been able to speak in public after a terrible trauma. In a tribute to Dante Alighieri’s Inferno, Mel descends naked through Hell. Along the way to the Ninth Level, she has some interesting interactions with demons, imps and other denizens. The final chapters, when she arrives at Luce’s private residence, starts, and finishes his redemption, are fascinating and delightful reading.
