Meatballs, Mistletoe and Murder is the fifth book in the Beachside Books Magical Cozy Mystery series. The characters are terrific, some a little crazier than others. The storyline is well written and captured my attention from the start. This story has murder, magic, suspense, relationship trouble, humour, and twists and turns.
I loved this book and can’t wait for the next one in the series.

Paige faces a number of quandaries.
Marco must deal with an expiring visa or return to Italy. An old friend offers a solution, but possible complications crop up as well.
Honestly, if Marco and Paige are as smitten as they seem, given current laws, it puzzles me why they don’t just get engaged. They have time to work out the details of their future, together or apart.
Sister in law Sarah seems to have some lethally competitive co-workers at her salon. Perhaps happier surprises lay in her future.
Things in the Cove are pretty exciting and more than a little magical

Paige has more than one issue to deal with in this book….between dealing with her boyfriend, Marco, being forced back to Italy and a murder with an incompetent detective accusing someone close to her of it, Paige has her hands full with the holidays. Paige reluctantly starts investigating at her brother’s request. I love the characters in this series, and Marco brings a sense of humor to the story. You can’t help but be drawn in by both the murder and her personal issues, so this is a page-turner.
Paige really has a lot on her mind this time! Her morning starts out with the decision to do something different for the holiday – a new haircut to impress her Italian boyfriend, Marco? The sad part was that Marco had to return to Italy after the Christmas holiday unless he can figure a way to extend his visa. At the beauty salon, her sister-in-law Sarah worked on her hair. Suddenly one of the stylists, Donna, started screaming at another, Peggy, about stealing her clients! Sarah sort of jokingly implied that it was almost like Peggy put a spell on her new clients. With Sarah and Paige being witches, she knew those kinds of things were possible.
Marco came over to have dinner with Paige, but he was obviously feeling “down” and just moved his food around the plate half-heartedly. Finally he said he had an important question to ask her. Her heart raced, thinking he would ask her to marry him and she wasn’t ready for that step. Instead, he asked her to move to Italy with him! At one time, that mattered to her. But she had her life established here in Portofino now. She had reconnected with her brother, she had started making a profit with the bookstore, she had many friends. She hadn’t even thought about returning to Italy. But Marco seemed to fragile at the moment. So she told him she needed to think about such a major decision.
Things were about to go crazy, though. Paige has to intervene to solve a murder when Peggy, the hairdresser, is found murdered at her sister-in-law Sarah’s beauty salon. Because Sarah is a prime suspect, Paige’s detective brother is not permitted to work the case. The lazy cop who is assigned is ready to retire soon and just wants to close the case without doing any real investigation. Can Paige work on the case while keeping her witch powers hidden? Can she find the murderer so Sarah is not sent to jail? Can she find time to be with Marco before he returns to Italy as his VISA expires?
This was a fun mystery with great characters and a fast-paced story line. With all the troubles coming Paige’s way, can she handle everything piled on her and still have time to decorate for the holidays?
Paige is having Sarah do her hair at her work, when a disruption has them looking. A couple of Sarah’s co-workers having a major disagreement in front of their clients. Then everything calms down, Sarah continues with doing her hair. When Paige receives a call on her home phone, she realizes that she left her phone at Sarah’s station at the salon.
One her way to meet Sarah to get her phone, the police go flying past her. She even sees her brother’s under cover car as well. She sees that they all stopped at Terrific Tresses. When she goes in she can’t believe what she sees. She sees Sarah with blood on her hands and she left bloody footprints. Paige sees that Sarah is in shock. Paige also learns that her brother will not be on the case due to his wife being the primary suspect.
Paige and Scott decide to look into the murder due to the person leading the case. He seems to be going after Sarah and not looking at all the other leading. This detective is lazy and wants to retire. The less he has to do the happier he is.
Paige is upset that her boyfriend Marco is leaving to go back to Italy. They tried what they could to have him stay. She wants to spend as much time with him as she can.
Paige will have her hands full the mysteries surrounding her, making time for her boyfriend, what is going on with her magic and so much more. If Paige is not careful, she could be hurt or someone else could be.
This was an enjoyable story, the author keep the pace of the story up. You don’t know who did the crime until the very end.

This book is perfectly titled! There is meatballs mistletoe and murder! Without giving an overview of the plot, let me say this was an enjoyable read, read as a standalone or in continuing the series.
Paige stumbles onto yet another murder but this time her family is involved. I loved the dynamics between them; it added bother humor and some great dialogue. Not only is there a murder to solve, but Paige has some personal issues that need her attention. This added to my intrigue as I was wondering how the issue would be resolved.
The story has a great balance of humor, mystery, action and twists. I never know what’s going to happen next and always find myself rooting for more! Aww to be friends with Paige! I received an ARC via Booksprout and I am leaving an honest review.
Witch Paige is left to solve a murder when Peggy is found murdered at her sister-in-law Sarah’s beauty salon. Paige’s detective brother is banned from the case because Sarah is a main suspect. Paige has her hands full with her boyfriend Marco’s VISA being up just after the holidays. Can she spend time with Marco before he must leave and solve the murder to keep Sarah out of jail? Great story with lots of surprises. I love this series! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
