In Happily Inc, love means never having to say “I do”… eat it, too.
After years in the military, Jasper is convinced he’s too damaged for relationships. So a flirtation—and more—with fiery, determined Renee is way too good to pass up…until his flame becomes his muse.
Renee is an expert at averting every crisis. But, as feelings become more serious, is she finally ready to leap into the one thing that can never be controlled: love?

I absolutely adore this series and it only gets sweeter with time. Jasper and Renee are both transplants to Happily Inc. where they are healing their brokenness. Susan Mallery has a distinct style of writing that always puts you in a happy place. The cast of characters, human and animals, are always exciting and lovable. As Jasper and Renee start their relationship they have amazing conversations filled with fun and wit. The introduction of Verity added a unique and charming bent to the story. Reading this book, if you have read the previous ones, will be like catching up with old friends and hearing about all the new changes in their lives. The friendship and community, as in all Susan’s books, is on magnificent display. I was happy to go for this visit.
I’ve not read any of the previous books in this series. And I don’t think you miss anything.
Renee is a wedding coordinator, she enjoys her job, but she’s got no plans to EVER get married!! It’s not for her, a good time yes, but marriage hell no!! Is the reason she is against the concept of marriage a failed marriage? A family who didn’t care? Or something else? We do get to find out, but you do have to get a good way into the book, before anything is revealed.
Jasper doesn’t think he will ever be ready for a relationship, seeing the things he did whilst serving in the army (he was a military policeman) has left him empty, so how the hell does he expect a woman to understand, he doesn’t understand it himself.
Jasper is now a writer, he’s good at what he does (a detective series) but is getting pressure to end the series, that’s not the problem…. it’s the ending. It’s suppose to have a happy ending, his character meets and falls in love!!! How the hell will he pull it off??
Renee and Jasper meet and it’s almost instant attraction. And a one night stand has both of the characters thinking of one another.
Renee is happy to “sleep” with Jasper, but doesn’t want or need the “white wedding” at the end. Jasper wants Renee’s opinion on the female psyche!!
The interaction between these two is funny, but there are a few moments where you want to smack them!! And the wedding planners that the author either interviewed or followed around, really paid off, she made it informative rather than full of “co-ordinator” speak.
So will Renee finally fall in love? Or will she be proved right? Will she have her heart broken? And can Jasper move from friend to the “unsafe” zone of possibly husband?
Meant to Be Yours is the fifth book in Happily Inc. Can be read as a standalone, I haven’t read previous stories and I had no problem following it. Author Jasper needs some help with his latest book in the romance department, who better to ask them a wedding planner right? I like stories that have family dynamics, past characters, and drama. The characters were realistic, and showed true feelings. I have already grabbed the first book to read so I can get more of this town and characters.
Another good read from Susan Mallery. Didn’t put it down until I was finished with it.
I enjoyed this well-written book. Renee has had bad relationship experiences in the past and now prefers coordinating other people’s weddings. Jasper feels he is too damaged for a relationship and can only handle a fling – fun without a future. The attraction between them is strong and Renee is happy to accept Jasper’s suggestion for some light, no future fun. This was an entertaining book and I would recommend it to others.
She had plenty of reasons to protect her heart and one of them was her mother. Now that she had found some where no one knew of her past and she had friends all she had to do was keep her mom away. He said he was broken and used that as an excuse to keep people at bay, he had all he needed with his writing. While these two thought they had it all worked out they were about to find out otherwise. This is my first read by this author and I absolutely loved the read and her characters too. It’s a fun read with some serious tones but mostly it’s about two people finding out there’s room in their hearts for so much more.
I love the camaraderie in the book, the friends for each of them are supportive but also unafraid of telling things like they are. It is a standalone read that has carry over characters which is always a plus. Love this author’s style and I will be reading more.
In Happily, a small town wedding destination, happily-ever-afters are a given. Especially in Renee’s line of work as a themed-wedding coordinator. For everyone but her. And with her growing interests in Jasper, a best selling author who feels too broken to fall in love, things are getting very complicated.
Such a well thought love story with wonderful characters and some irresistible animals, and with love as the backdrop, who can resist falling for this Happily, Inc story!
Susan Mallery is one of my favorite authors. Her books always have me hooked from beginning to end and this one does not disappoint. A beautiful story of two people not looking for or wanting love but end up falling in love after all. I love the chemistry between Jasper and Renee. Like her other books, it was hard to put down to sleep, eat or get back to my normal life, lol! Thanks Susan, for another good read!
Meant to Be Yours (Happily Inc #5) by Susan Mallery …Susan Mallery never fails to grab me in the first chapter and keep me there til the last. Thanks to the author, publisher and #NetGalley for letting me preview this book. This is Renee Jasper’s story…they both have issues …he is a ex-military thriller writer with PTSD…she is a wedding planner with heartbreak and abandonment issues. We get to spend time with old friends and some pets, there are laughs, some tears, angst, some steamy stuff all getting us to a very HEA. I can’t wait for the next book.
Susan Mallery’s Meant to Be Yours was a fun read. Happily, Inc is a wedding destination city in California. Renee is a wedding planner and she loves her job, planning everyone else’s “dream come true” wedding. But not her own. She has sworn off marriage. Enter Jasper a mystery writer. After many years in the service, he is dealing with his PTSD and doesn’t consider himself marriage material. So they decide they will have a purely sexual relationship, no strings attached. Jasper is an up and coming author with some notoriety and thinks he will make one of his characters a wedding planner and that is where the sparks fly. A great Rom-Com and I would definitely recommend it
I always enjoy Susan Mallery. Her characters are life-like with realistic feelings. Meant to be Yours is part of the Happily Inc series, so we get to have visits from old friends. Our hero, Jasper, is a writer and I really enjoyed the peek into the life of an author. Jasper needs to write about a woman and finds his inspiration with Renee, who is a wedding planner. Renee and Jasper agree they can only be friends, as both of them are too emotionally damaged to commit to a relationship. Complete with fun wedding scenes, and behind the scene wedding scenarios this story was a quick, light-if predictable- read!
I am a huge fan of Susan Mallery. I have not read her books in a several months since I attended a book convention and received so many books there. I have enjoyed the books I have been reading quite a bit and never expected the sensation of coming home when I began to read Meant To Be Yours. There is something that I cannot explain totally that overcame me. I suppose without realizing it, missed her special touch with storytelling.
I also never realized how much I missed the characters in the town of Happily Inc. Reading about them again definitely felt like I had returned to my hometown. Ex-military, recovering from PSTD, reclusive, broken Jasper, was always one of my favorite characters. I was so happy that in this book he would find his happily ever after. I was thrilled to find out his heroine was Rene, who was always standing on the outside of the gatherings, feeling not worthy, or not able to open herself up to become a part of the group. Obviously, she had issues in her past also.
What a great pairing of these two characters! Both had to deal with their past before becoming ready to accept the next step in their life. It is great timing that they came to healing at the same moment in time.
I enjoyed so much of this book. It was very insightful to learn so much of the writing process through Jasper’s struggle of writing his new book. It was also another great view into how much planning goes into holding an event, such as a wedding.
I adored Jasper’s new addition in this book, an abandoned dog, Koda, who really came along to rescue Jasper, instead of the other way around. Rene has a similar rescuing going on, but it is from the wonderful people of Happily, Inc. that have accepted her when she recently moved there, and now in this story, they also accept her unique mother, Verity. I will not go into what makes Verity such a gem, I do not want to let any of the storyline out, but I truly enjoyed her character so much!
Susan Mallery has done another amazing job of a great plot, wonderful characters – that I care about so much and a cherishing, romantic happily ever after for Jasper and Rene.
I want to thank NetGalley.com and HARLEQUIN – Romance (U.S. & Canada) for allowing me to read the ARC of this book.
Serial killer author Jasper hooks up with wedding planner Renee in order to finish the book that he is writing. He needs to give his character a love interest but has no idea how to write a woman into his plot. Working with Renee not only gets him his storyline but so much more. But is Renee willing to take the chance on Jasper? Or are they both too broken to move forward. Susan Mallery has a knack for creating characters the reader cannot help but fall in love with but also a storyline that puts a smile on their faces. This was an adorable read that proves that even the most broken are worth fixing.
