Gosh. So, this book was my first introduction to a present/past narrative and I have to say I enjoyed it!! Tanner and Izzy were sweet, sexy, & believable. I enjoyed the Carlisle brothers and can’t wait to read the other books in the series!! I totally recommend this book to anyone interested in established/married romance.
What a beautiful, heartbreaking story! It was truly emotional and well-written. I loved the chemistry between Tanner and Isabelle. I’d never wanted a cheating character to fix things so badly before. I cried a bunch.
For a debut novel, I have been totally blown away with this story! Isabelle always thought that her marriage to her soul-mate Tanner was unbreakable. Tanner is away for the weekend with his brother, and on a drunken night out makes a mistake that could end his marriage. When Tanner confesses to Belle what he has done, she is left devastated; and Tanner will do anything to make things right. Will their marriage survive? Can mistakes be forgiven? No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a beautifully written story which is heartbreaking and an emotional roller coaster ride throughout. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more from this talented author, whose work I recommend for all.
*Possible spoilers BEWARE*
I love cheating books and then the characters having to work through their issues and in that sense this book didn’t disappoint. With belle’s past I can see how something so small could cause big issues but at the same time i was annoyed. They both realize that their marriage was on a downward spiral but Belle didn’t take any of the blame. That’s what annoyed me. She was to ready to please and keep Tanner happen she didn’t say anything when he kept putting work first so I turn it was the downfall of their marriage.
I won’t say that that fact alone make me not like this book, because I did like it. I liked tanner working his butt off to make her see his love. While what happened was a focal point to the story, it was more about finding that special love for a second time. Realizing that you can lose something over something small. The past and present mingling was also really fun. This is my first book by this author and while I struggled with Belle’s characters, I really did like the story. 4 stars #2OCCJD
I love this sexy, established romance by Amelia Foster! Established romances aren’t seen often, at least in my romance world, and it’s refreshing to see a couple after their original happily ever after, work toward another. Life and love don’t end with “I do,” and established romance books remind us that challenges and excitement can come through any stage of life–single, divorced, and yes, even while married.
Tanner is handsome, smart, successful, and super cute. Yes, he messed up, and his marriage is suffering because of it. However, as Tanner tries to make up with his wife, Isabelle, its revealed to both of them that maybe they’d put their marriage on the back shelf, so to speak, behind jobs and kids and other responsibilities. Sure, Tanner made a mistake, but regrets it immediately, and comes to the realization that he needs to woo his wife to make it better. He does some super romantic things to do that.
Izzy, although she did nothing wrong, goes through feelings of sadness and guilt. Her reactions feel real–she’s not strong all the time, which I appreciated. As much as we’d like to think how we’d act in Tanner and Izzy’s situation, we would never know until we were faced with it. In Izzy’s case, she handles it the best way she can. Together, these two work together to realize that even though their love for each other is pretty much a given, they have to work at their marriage, and make sure that the other knows and more importantly, feels, the love.
My favorite aspect of the book is that Ms. Foster weaves in flashbacks in a perfectly-executed fashion, connecting the past with the present, and reinforcing to the reader that Tanner and Izzy are a couple worth rooting for.
