This reminds me of Nora Roberts contemporary romance with Irish families. The angst is low, so if you want to spend time with nice people in a nice place, this is an easy read that will leave you feeling good.
Nan created a family and town I want to visit. Sean and Megan are the perfect friends to lovers and all the good stuff in between. I’m overjoyed the third book is out so I could dive right in.
Meant to Be is the perfect title for this novel in the Four Irish Brothers Winery series. It is all about Sean and Megan-friends since grade schools that discover (uncomfortably) that they have deeper than friend feelings for each other. But, there is the worry of ruining a great and wonderful friendship that puts a hold on each for their dreams of being together.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A pleasantly sweet story about two friends who finally realize they were meant to be together. The premise has been done before, but so what? It’s an enjoyable read. No sexual situations with minimal foul language.
Cute, entertaining story (especially for the price – free!). It was a lovely easy read.
Very good book
Sweet book
A great read.
Sweet story . I would have liked to see them together more once they started realizing they loved each other.
Good read
Life long friends come to realise that they have been covering up feelings for years. Easy reading with some really sweet moments.
Could not put the book down a must read
Great characters!
High-powered Chicago attorney Sean Flaherty and small-town mayor Megan Mackenzie have been best friends since grade school. They have always shared a special bond. When Sean is shot by a client’s angry ex, Megan rushes to his side, terrified she is about to lose her long-time confidant. Upon his return to River’s Edge to recuperate, Sean discovers that his feelings for his pal have taken an undeniable romantic turn. While Megan struggles with an unfamiliar longing for Sean, she worries he may be mistaking a safe place to land for love. – The Flaherty brothers are great. Megan is sweet with good friends and a wonderful father. This is a good book about friendship to love. The story is told in an interesting manner.
Actually 3.5 bumped to 4. Well, this was a fun story! I did not read the first book in this series and really had no problem following things at all. Sean and Megan have been best friends since they were kids. They grew up together, commiserated with one another after bad dates, planned their lives out together, but never really thought of the other in a romantic way. They have always been the constant in the other’s life. Now they are in their late 30s and a sudden tragic shooting puts a lot of things in perspective for Sean. He realizes that Megan is more than just his best friend. Megan is convinced that Sean is suffering from PTSD and is reading too much into things. Secretly? They both know that there is a reason neither one has ever committed to anyone else.
This is a fun, quick, clean story with wonderful characters that come alive on the pages. The Flaherty brothers are just plain fun!
Meant to Be is Nan Reinhardt’s second book in her Four Irish Brothers Winery series. It is an incredibly fun, yet scary return to River’s Edge. All of the characters that we loved in the first book return for more love and mischief. We also get a full dose of Sam’s mother Carlynne, whose actions totally bewilder Sam! Conor, Aiden, and Bren rush to Chicago when Sean Flaherty is shot by a client’s ex. Also rushing to his bedside, is lifelong best friend, River’s Edge’s Mayor, Megan MacKenzie. After a short dalliance between Megan and Sean’s buddy Vin, Megan and Sean discover their mutual feelings have changed. No longer is “best friends” going to be enough. Sean, whose been unhappy by his successful, yet joyless life in Chicago, decides to resign from his law firm, and return home permanently to work with Connor and Sam. Now, all that’s needed, is to convince Megan that their love is true.
Megan is afraid that Sean’s new feelings, are simply an extension of her “best friend” status. Sam, Conor, Aiden, Bren, Charlotte, Mac, even Ali… they all see that Sean and Megan are a couple. Megan, after so many years of failed relationships, doesn’t trust her instincts. Yes, she is also attracted to Sean, but she’s always “loved” Sean. The sentimental lawyer (YES! So fun!) retrieves trinkets and memories of their long history to convince her of their love. Will Megan admit her true feelings… that her “one” has always been Sean? The characters in this story, this series, are wonderful! Taking this journey back to River’s Edge was wonderful too! I can’t wait for book 3.
When Sean Flaherty realizes what’s important after a tragic thing happens to him he knows what he needs to do. He also can’t believe his best friend from Rivers Edge is sitting by his hospital bed, Megan Mackenzie. So when she is pinning over his friend Vinnie he doesn’t like it.
It’s only telling when he comes to Rivers Edge,’and they go on a double date. His date someone new in town. What a disaster.
Must buy
I’m not a foodie so I admit some of the food and wine talk goes right over my head, but I do know when I found a flavor combination I like. Likewise I know when I’ve come across a writer’s work that I enjoy! I just finished my second novel by Nan Reinhardt and have loved them both. This was took best friends to recognizing love, and it was a wonderful journey with a few unexpected twists. Can’t wait to start the next one!
Wonderful story! Nan has created a group of characters that touch your heart. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Chicago lawyer Sean may have moved away from the small town of River’s Edge, but it’ll always be his home. And when he’s shot outside the courthouse and needs some time away to recover, he returns to the place of his birth where he has so many fond memories and where his best friend Meghan still lives.
Meghan’s the new mayor of River’s Edge and is having a hard time bringing the place up to speed. When her best friend gets shot, she puts her life on hold to see him through the darkness. But a handsome police detective might just make her wonder if it’s time she expanded her circle of friends. Torn between the past and future, the little town seems to get a lot smaller.
While Meghan tries to keep River’s Edge running, she falls into a comfortable rhythm with a healing Sean. But when their friendship seems to drift towards something more, she’s more confused than ever. Stepping over the line could mean the end for everything they’ve shared. But if they keep their distance, will they possibly be giving up what’s meant to be?
Who did I spy on page one? A certain familiar face from the first book named Sam. Moments where characters from other books pop up, reminds me of why I adore series works. Seeing bits of previous stories go on in the background is always one of my favorite touches, especially in small towns.
I loved Meghan. She has a great head on her shoulders and a real way of connecting with people, although she’s more sensitive than she lets on. I enjoyed the fantastic relationship with her friend Sam as well. Their witty back and forth was fun nod to girlfriend relationships. Although the focus was definitely on Meghan and the possibilities with Sean.
Sean and Meghan have decades of history behind them, making them a seemingly perfect match. But watching them stumble through the what if’s only highlighted their differences sometimes. However, it’s easy to see why a girl might be drawn to Sean. He’s handsome, smart, and accomplished, but never let it go to his head
Overall, I enjoyed this latest installment and look forward to what’s next in this line of sweet, small town romances.
