He doesn’t do commitment. She’s his dead friend’s wife. They can never be more than friends.Piper Stevens had already met—and lost—the love of her life. When she buried her husband, she buried her chance for a happily ever after…but also found a shoulder to lean on in Nate.As a commitment-phobe womanizer, Nate Hall has never had a female as a friend, but he made a promise to his buddy before he … promise to his buddy before he passed. Take care of Piper.
And these days? He can’t imagine his life without her.
Now, a year later, things Piper thought were long gone are beginning to come back.
Like her previously healthy libido.
Except she can’t picture dating someone in her husband’s place, nor can she sleep with a stranger either.
So, she turns to Nate. After all, he’s the perfect choice. He’s her friend but also a player. He cares about her but they’ll never fall in love…and she won’t get hurt. Not like she did when she lost her husband.
But sometimes the universe has other plans. Like bringing together two people who were meant to be together.
Meant to Be was previously published under the title Nasty (Naughty #2).

Piper is a still-grieving widow whose dormant sexuality suddenly awakens. Whom can she turn to for some help? Nate, her husband’s and her best friend, of course. Nate is a gem, a commitment-phobic gem, but a gem nonetheless. He was in the accident that killed Piper’s husband, his own best friend, and he still bears the guilt of it. He’s been there for Piper since day 1, though; so when she comes to him for help with her needs, who is he to turn her down? Thus is born their fwb relationship. Of course, you know that fwb rarely, if ever, stays just friends, especially between two people who are as close as Piper and Nate, and who share such a complex history as they do.
Nasty is a sexy, emotional and even sweet journey. I loved Nate and Piper together, seeing them evolve from just friends to friends with benefits, to much, much more made for some great reading. This is the second story of R.L. Kenderson’s that I have had the pleasure of reading, and it most certainly will not be the last.
Great Balance Between Drama & Se*y Times!!
What’s a Widow to do when her libido suddenly decides to awaken, but she’s already had & lost the love of her life…
How’s she supposed to scratch that itch without dating a bunch of losers, leading some poor sap on, or even worse getting an STD…
Hmmmm, suddenly my husband’s bestfriend is looking mighty FINE~ just look at him strutting around without his shirt… D@mn! When did he get Sooo Smokin’ HOT!
Ohhh, yeah! She’s got the Perfect Plan; she’s gonna Pony up & Ride him HARD to scratch that itch! After all, he’s not looking for long-term, & neither is she…
Well, at least that was the PLAN!
I was granted an ARC of R.L. Kenderson’s “Nasty (Naughty #2)” via Booksprout; I found this book extremely enjoyable. I’m gladly recommending it based upon its own merits. I’ll definitely be looking forward to more opportunities to read R.L.’s work in the future. All opinions expressed within this review are uniquely my own & freely given.
Until next time… Happy Reading!
WOW! I was BLOWN AWAY by Nasty! Piper, a widow, and Nate, her late husbands friend, have leaned on each other since the death of their loved one. Nate being with him, he promised to take care of Piper, and Nate takes that very seriously. He helps her around the house and makes sure she needs for nothing.
I really enjoyed this cast of characters. The chemistry between Nate and Piper was strong from the beginning, before evolving to another level. Their friendship is so important. I loved the complexity of the characters, Nate’s family was unexpected but added so much to who he is. Piper was restless, unsure of how to move on. Her heart was torn as she navigated this road she never expected to be on.
Overall, Nasty is a MUST READ. It’s complex and addictive. This is the second book of a series but is a standalone. I found the book to be paced a bit slow, but felt that it was have been disrespectful to the characters if it wasn’t. This wasn’t a typical boy meets girl, they fall in love, there are so many levels to this story that are navigated beautifully.
Meant to Be is the third story within this group of friends and although I haven’t yet read Rumor Has It, I did read Friends With Benefits and I loved it. This is a great friends to lovers romance. The book blurb gives an accurate description of the story. Piper and Nate’s love story has some hiccups but all in all it’s a warm and sexy story with likable characters and I loved it. Looking forward to the next book of the series.
This was a steamy book about two friends that become so much more. Piper and Nate start out as friends and then become relationship goals. Nate was best friends with Piper’s husband before he died in a car accident. He promised to take care of Piper and they became close friends. Piper felt like her libido was buried with her husband, until it comes back to life and wants Nate.
I wasn’t sure at first if I would like this book because Nate is quite the player. He’s got booty calls practically on speed dial. But the man grows on you! By the end of the book, I was in love with his character. He becomes a reformed player who is finally ready to give a relationship a chance.
Unfortunately that isn’t the only stumbling block in the road. Piper struggles with having feelings for her husband’s friend. She feels like she’s cheating on her late husband or at least dishonoring his memory. These two have a lot of things to work out if they are going to be together. I definitely shed some tears with this story! It was totally worth it to get to the ending.

A great smoldering sexy heart warming story with a well thought out plot and great characters that are relatable with realistic emotions. The story includes witty sexy banter, humor, an emotional rollercoaster and a great wonderful twist at the end for a perfect ending. Nate is feeling responsible for his best friends death taking his promise to look after his wife to heart determined to fight the feelings he has had his entire life. Piper is fighting finding her pain ease from the grief of losing her husband. A wonderfully written sexy must read. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
Pride and Prejudice it ain’t
This is a thoroughly modern romance with snark and hilarity. The relationship is undefined throughout most of the book. But the characters are likeable and the pacing is good. The amount of sex and naughty fun takes away from a pretty good love story. They had fallen in love before having sex, and that part was more hinted than written about. The falling in love is the best part. The story of how someone goes from a stranger to a friend to your person is the absolute best.
Piper’s husband dies in a car accident but his friend Nate survives. She struggles to move on but her friendship with Nate helps. However soon she starts to miss and want things that make her feel guilty because she thinks she shouldn’t feel this way with her husband being gone. Then one night after being out with friends she goes to Nate and everything changes between them. Nate has been attracted to his friends wife since they became friends after the accident but he has been fighting his attraction so he could be there for her. But when she shows up at his place begging him to take her he can’t refuse. Will this have them moving towards some serious? Can they see that they are perfect for each other?
This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn’t put it down. It has you wanting to cry at parts and laughing out loud at others. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

This is a very good story about a second chance of love after the lost of the first, and falling in love with a best friend. Piper learns to live and live again and Nate comes to terms with his live life and comes through for Piper. I found this story a heartwarming second chance at love and truly enjoyed it.

Piper lost her husband Joshua a year ago. He had asked his best friend Nate to take care of Piper before he died. Piper and Nate are always together and start to have feelings for each other. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by this author.

This is book two in the Dirty Love series. It can be enjoyed as a standalone story. I haven’t read book one yet but I was able to enjoy this one without any issues. This book was so good and the emotions will hit you in the feels. It’s hot and steamy. Nate and Piper are very relatable. Nate avoids commitments but he made a big one to Piper when Jordan was dying, Jordan wants Nate to take care of his wife Piper. Nate feels responsible for Jordan’s death so he had done everything he can to support and take care of her. A year after Jordan’s death Piper is looking for a friend with benefits kind of thing. She has decided she never wants to love again because she doesn’t want to feel the pain of losing someone again. She thinks Nate would be perfect, they’re friends but Nate will never commit. What could possibly go wrong? What happens when feelings get involved?

Meant to Be is a standalone book in the Dirty Love series that is a fantastic friends to lovers story. Piper has lost the love of her life and its through her husbands’ best fiend that she realizes she is still alive wanting more for her own future than to sit home and be dead inside. But what she soon discovers she wants is in fact her husband’s best friend Nate. Nate helped Piper get through her darkest days and has become the light in her life and now they are both are forced with facing their own hearts desires towards each other. This story tackles a range of emotions from loss to guilt to lust to love that has you front and center during the characters realization about how much life truly has to offer. Great read for a great escape to appreciate finding your own happiness.
Nate was there when Piper’s husband died and his request to Nate was to take care of Piper. They have become best friends but Nate is harboring thoughts about Piper that are sure to conflict with his promise to his friend. Piper’s body is finally coming alive and her libido is directed at Nate. Can these two weather the sexual storm coming? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
I expected something completely different than a one year gone horny widow. Could not connect at all to her, her sister, any of the characters here
enjoyed characters and story
It was ok but it didn’t provide that wow reaction for me. The characters were good. Honestly the story hit me dead in the heart because I too was an unexpected widow early. Pipers’s feelings keep blending in with my own feelings which distracted me a lot during the story but unlike Piper it has been three years for me and I am no where near ready for a new relationship. This is my first book by these authors and I’m going to read other books by them because it’s unfair to judge their writing by my own emotional experience. Until next time y’all happy reading.
I love a good friends to lovers story. I love any story about love conquering a previously rogue-ish alpha guy. Piper and Nate’s tale is all that. It’s also superbly written and with wonderful characters. Most definitely highly recommended.
Piper hadn’t planned on being a widow so early in life. A year later, she’s still trying to put her life back together, but with the sweetly loyal friend Nate, she’s doing so much better. Now she finally needs someone to warm the bed with, and who better than Nate? Good friend and playboy extraordinaire. Well, her in-laws might have a thing or two to say about that. This was a sweet and angsty story with some amazing heat between Piper and Nate! There were some challenges along the way, and I felt for Piper’s dilemma. Nate had issues as well, but I didn’t relate to his as much. This was still a really sweet and steamy read.
Piper lost her husband. Piper doesn’t think that she will ever love again. Nate was her husband best friend now Nate has become her shoulder to cry on and an ear to talk to. Nate made a promise to his friend to take care of Piper. Nate never thought that he would have such feels for Piper but he does. I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the storyline and plot. Piper Stevens is trying to make adjustments in her life. She’s finally chipping away at her protective bubble. Nathanial “Nate” Hall seems to have a thing for taking care of people. He has an interesting job and of course because I didn’t know that at the beginning, I pictured something else – you should never assume. This is a story of the ups and downs of starting over. It may seem scary but that doesn’t stop Piper from putting her nervousness aside and at least trying to go after what she wants.
Our authors have created some great secondary characters that have me wanting to know if they’ll have their chance – good thing I’m only two books behind. One thing I loved was the fact that they created two main characters that seem to be very comfortable around each other that they can speak openly to each other. They’ve also created one that’s more of the silent type but we get to hear his thoughts – big grin.
I can’t say that this is a second chance story. It may be for Piper but since she’s never been in Nate’s life like that before I don’t think that description applies. But then as I get toward the end I start to second guess myself because in a way it is a second chance. Some descriptions that do apply to this story are sexy, hot, humorous, and page-turner. I can certainly see this as a book to read more than once especially if you’re going to keep up with the series. If I have to have one disappointment is that the Playlist came after I finished the story – just one more reason to read this book again.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
