She’s waited a long time for her second chance at love… trying to find her way. Taking the job as lighthouse keeper on Gansett Island was the best thing she could’ve done for herself. On the island she’s found amazing friends and a wonderful new life. There’s only one thing missing and that’s romance. She’s recently asked her new friends to fix her up with some of the island’s more eligible men. While her friends are busy arranging dates for her, Alex Martinez comes to cut the grass at the lighthouse.
He’s given up everything to come home to Gansett to care for his ailing mother…
Alex has gone from cultivating orchids at the US Botanic Garden in Washington to cutting grass on Gansett, like he did as a teenager. Running the family business with his brother while managing their mother’s dementia requires Alex’s undivided attention until a sexy lighthouse keeper shows him there’s much more to life than work and endless obligation.
During a scorching summer heat wave on Gansett, Jenny and Alex take comfort in each other, and what begins as a hot summer fling quickly becomes something much more lasting. But will it hold up beyond the heat wave when real life intrudes on their sexy interlude?

I love Marie Force and Gansett Island books!
Always enjoy Marie Force, great author!
Relaxing read…one of my favorite authors.
I enjoy the Gansett Island series in part because Ms. Force keeps us caught up on the lives of the people we know and love; however, this could seem disruptive and confusing if you haven’t read most of the previous books in the series. I recommend reading the series in order because it’s always a treat to go back to the island for a visit.
Alex is called home by his brother to help with their mother suffering from dementia. Paul has been running the family business and taking care of the mother and it has finally reached a point where he desperately needs help. Alex is a terrific hero. I LOVED this guy. He is rough and ready!! He has a way with words and uses them to win his love, Jenny.
This is a stand alone read with a HEA in the Gansett Island series. Great characters, great information on dementia. The information is good and spot on about the caretaker as well as the family effected by this disease. It is not a downer, just informative. Great story, I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it. It is very SEXY so be aware if that is a problem for you. The lighthouse keeper and the lawnmower man make for a very fun read as well. Great characters and always fun to visit Gansett Island.
Loved the chactors in the book
Jenny had a long recovery after losing Toby on 9/11. She moved to an island to see if a total break from all those she loved would help. Alex moved home to care for his mother and in the process meets Jenny. How each survives is a very real story that happens quite often and we are never aware it’s happening. A wonderful story in between some steamy connections. It’s worth reading.
I LOVED IT
Good series
An interesting enjoyable read with character having various degrees of emotions ranging from tragedy to finding happiness
Loved it the first time I read and the second third and fourth time I read the book along with all of the whole series. Thank you Marie!!!!!
I loved this book! It only took me two days to read. If I didn’t have to work, it would have probably only been a half a day because I didn’t want to put it down!
Have complete series…… a must read
Just love her books
When Jenny was first introduced to this series her letter broke my heart, so I couldn’t wait to read her story. This 10th book’s story line was good, hot, & sad. I loved the beginning. I loved the hot & steamy scenes. I felt so sorry for Jenny, that had to be very scary to go through. I loved Alex’s character, he is definitely “sex on a stick”. My heart broke for Alex & Paul, they are very strong for what they deal with. I loved the ending
Devastating, romantic, tender, emotional, passionate, heartwarming. Absolutely adore your books Marie. Just damn good romance.
Revisiting Gansett Island 2020
As the group grows.. the island is becoming the place to be. You heal as you find your tribe of friends, and this tribe wants you to be happy. Glowing, growing, and HAPPY. Jenny and Alex are no exception to this rule.
Alex lawnmower guy; Jenny Lighthouse, best way to remember these two that made me equally laugh and cry. I love how sexy they are, but they are also so funny. Jenny who came to Gansett for a new starts finds comfort in a man who is nothing like the person she once loved and lost. ALEX!! I love how rough around the edges he is. But he’s the person who reminds Jenny that she is alive, even if his life is slightly complicated right now. I seriously loved how Alex and Jenny are coupled together.
Like only Marie can do, we get updates on our current residents:
Evan and Grace need to make some plans for their future…
Dan and Kara face their past and decide just how to move forward…
All fans favorite Mac and Maddie have a sexy update as well…
As I continue my revisit, I’m falling in love with the island all over again. I love that as I re-read I can get a grasp of the timeline. Falling in love with these characters is definitely stronger the second time around.
Need to meet new friends.. Get on the ferry.. Gansett Island welcomes you.
Very good. Jenny and Alex both have heartbreaking stories. Jenny moves to start a new life after losing her fiance’ in the 911 attacks of the Twin Towers. Alex’s is dealing with his mom’s Alzheimer’s and the two of them meet and deal with all their heartache together and fall deeply in love!! A standalone HEA!! Very good!!
This was actually one of my favorites in the series. Alex and Jenny were witty and fun from the time of their first meeting. In their story, you get instasex first, then instalove. Neither of them were expecting that level of attraction, or a relationship, period.
The book dealt with some intense topics, such as 9/11 and dementia. The focus was more on how people have to try and continue to live their lives both during and after difficult situations and tragedies.
Part of Alex and Jenny ‘s intense attraction was they understood the need each other had to step away from life’s difficulties.
This book could be read as a standalone, but I don’t necessarily think you will enjoy it as much if you haven’t read some of the other books in the series. There is so much going on with so many different couples, I could see where it would be confusing to try and keep them all straight. Especially if you haven’t read ANY of the other books.
Another Gansett Island visit that is full of love, romance, steamy scenes plus the friendship, support, and loyalty that comes living there. To top it off, you get the inevitable HEA.
I really loved this book. I would do recommend this book. It had amazing characters and a great storyline.
