From #1 New York Times best-selling author Sandra Brown comes a heart-pounding story of survival, that takes the age-old question, “Does the end justify the means?” and turns it on its head. Dr. Emory Charbonneau, a pediatrician and marathon runner, disappears on a mountain road in North Carolina. By the time her husband Jeff, miffed over a recent argument, reports her missing, the trail has … her missing, the trail has grown cold. Literally. Fog and ice encapsulate the mountainous wilderness and paralyze the search for her.
While police suspect Jeff of “instant divorce,” Emory, suffering from an unexplained head injury, regains consciousness and finds herself the captive of a man whose violent past is so dark that he won’t even tell her his name. She’s determined to escape him, and willing to take any risks necessary to survive.
Unexpectedly, however, the two have a dangerous encounter with people who adhere to a code of justice all their own. At the center of the dispute is a desperate young woman whom Emory can’t turn her back on, even if it means breaking the law. Wrong becomes right at the hands of the man who strikes fear, but also sparks passion.
As her husband’s deception is revealed, and the FBI closes in on her captor, Emory begins to wonder if the man with no name is, in fact, her rescuer from those who wish her dead – and from heartbreak.
Combining the nail-biting suspense and potent storytelling that has made Sandra Brown one of the world’s best loved authors, MEAN STREAK is a wildly compelling novel about love, deceit, and the choices we must make in order to survive.more
I listened to this one in audiobook and thought the narrator did a great job with the story.
This, for me, is an annual re-read type of book. Such great tension between the two characters, and Sandra has a way of feeding you just as enough information to keep you guessing and starving for more. Love the red herrings, love the build, love the story, love the pace. It’s just kind of perfect.
I borrowed the audiobook version of Mean Streak from my library and I really enjoyed this book. The characters are great, and because the book takes place within just a few days time, the pace is fast and furious. The story is thrilling and gritty. The relationship between the two main characters is deliciously steamy. Recommended read.
Mean Streak is a fast paced novel of deception and suspicion. This was a good romantic suspense, characters you can relate, the story zigged and zagged with an ending you could not see coming. I found this to be a very enjoyable read and would highly recommend.
This was a great book was about a doctor who love to run marathons she was having problems with her husband and she went to do some training in mountains for the next marathon and it started from there it’s very good book I was very impressed

WOW! First Sandra Brown I have read (actually listened as an audio book). So many twists and turns, right up until the end! Bring on more Sandra Brown!
Had me fooled most of the book.
Holy cow! Let me say it again. Holy cow! This book was simply amazing. I’m not sure whether to call it a mystery…a suspense…a romantic suspense??? I’m just not sure. Whatever it is, it’s well worth the reading (or listening) time.

Sandra browns books are always exciting to read! Good plot twists & good endings!!
There isn’t a Sandra Brown novel I haven’t read. Nor is there one I haven’t liked…but this one is by far my favorite. Taken in by a stranger after an unexplained attack, Emory Charbonneau struggles to put the pieces of the incident together. She finds herself having to rely on the stranger and is pulled into his dangerous past.
The twists and …
A real page-turned and a surprise ending. Loved it!
I borrowed the audio version of this book from the library and absolutely loved it! I actually looked forward to my commute. The perfect balance of action, romance and suspense.
Sandra Brown weaves a story that will keep your attention from page one to the last page.
Emery is a doctor who is an avid runner training for a marathon. Her first mistake was to train on a mountain trail by herself. She is injured and ends up in the cabin of a stranger. I loved Emery and the stranger’s characters.
Well worth the read.
This was my first Sandra Brown read and now I’m hooked!
Believe it or not, Mean Streak was my first Sandra Brown novel. I loved it. Absolutely powerful writing. Top-notch character building.
Couldn’t stop listening for one second.
