This book is more of “stream of consciousness” writing by K Hepburn. Did learn much about her life. However, it was hard to follow at times.
Like many actors, Katharine Hepburn was focused on her career from the moment she decided acting was what she wanted to pursue. So much of this book is a recitation of one movie or theater production after another. Relatively short shrift is given to the people around her, and that leaves you not understanding Ms. Hepburn as much as you might …
She was an amazing woman and a great actress, but a writer she’s not.
Fascinating!
Ms Hepburn was a brilliant actress and an interesting human. Unfortunately this book is a vapid bore.
A “heck-of-a-book” by a “heck-of-a-woman.” This is a page-turner and I found it very interesting. Never a dull moment!
Enjoyed the read.
I have always like KH’s movies – no idea that she also wrote, directed and produced them as well worked in theater.
A bit rambling and scattered – hard to follow. I was disappointed. It wasn’t what I was hoping it would be.
She jumped all over. I thought it would be better
Awful…boring…can’t believe any editor let this one by…ugh.
Would not recommend
boring and Kate was too much a self-centered person
Liked it a lot, learned so much about one of my favorite actresses.
It was a rambling and chronologically challenged book so despite Katherine’s warning that it was simply a book of recollections, it made it difficult to read. I am glad she admits often that she was a self-absorbed person. Hard to miss.
One of my favorite actresses
She has always been one of my favorites… very outspoken, witty and willing to tell it like it was for her.
I enjoyed learning more about this wonderful actress
It was a fun fast read!
It is very quirky in its format Katherine Hepburn is very quirky. I wanted to learn more about her life with Spencer Tracy, one of my all time favorite actors. She does write about it but relatively briefly considering that they had been together for more than 25 years.
She states in the Forward that she wouldn’t be following a traditional …
