I am drawn to books when the characters become someone I would like to meet. This book drew me in with the unique interaction of the main characters, it is what made the book!
A real surprise: falling in love with the characters was easy, saying goodbye at the end of the story was difficult. Heartbreaking and heartwarming. A beautiful read.
What a very emotional read. Be sure to have a box of tissues on hand when reading this book.
I wasn’t prepared for the emotional roller coaster that this book entails. I should have been, I’d heard it was sad…but I wasn’t quite ready for the ups and the downs, the hopes and the let downs, the love and the grief. I haven’t seen the film version and perhaps that’s why, even reading this at this late date, I wasn’t prepared. If you’re like me, now you can be. It’s emotional, but it’s not all sad.
I found the lead female character to be very relatable. Louisa is not overly confident, but has a big heart. She deals with a lot from her family and tries to do so with grace. She feels deeply and loves the same.
The lead male character was well written…even while wishing for different choices to be made, you could see where Will was coming from and why he chose the things he chose. His part of the story is very controversial and I can’t imagine being in his shoes nor the shoes of his loved ones during the course of this book. I found it exhausting and draining just reading about it.
If you like realistic fiction with a lot of emotion, you will love this book. I’m looking forward to reading the sequel.
A true tear jerker. Puts you in both main character’s places and makes you want a happy ending even though you know that’s not what the real world offers.
I loved this book!
Enjoyed this book very much. Glad they used it for a movie.
Enjoyable
I absolutely loved this book! I think a lot of people heard it was about “assisted suicide” and bashed the story without actually reading it. To me, the most beautiful thing about the story was that he wanted to set her free and help her see that life is about trying new things and taking some chances. I highly recommend this book!
I loved this book as well as the sequel.
BEST BOOK EVER
I usually prefer big historical novels or stories set in exotic or ancient settings. Nevertheless, this contemporary story hit the spot. Lovely little book with great dialogue and memorable characters. Not surprised it was also made into a movie!

Similar book 47 Things by L. Anderson.
Love this book and cried throughout. Beautiful the way that the characters, who are almost polar opposite, come together in what reads as a wonderful love story.
Just a great book- hard to put down!
I had heard nothing of this story before I read it. I’m glad, it would have spoiled it.
It unfolded like a beautiful piece of sheet music being played by as a masterpiece.
