Ford Spurlock has known Ashe Trammel since they were babies. He’s also done his level best to stay away from her because every time he gets to within five feet of her, they’re fighting like cats and dogs.Ashe is the apple of her father’s eye. The motorcycle club princess that was never to be harmed in any way—or touched for that matter. And he’s always resented the fact that she could get away … could get away with things that he couldn’t. Things that she then blames on him and he always gets punished for.
Fast forward to adulthood, and Ashe is still off limits. Still driving him insane. Still…beautiful.
She never misses an opportunity to give him hell, either.
That has to be why he agrees to do a photoshoot for KPD SWAT that’ll benefit her charity even when he’d rather shoot himself in the foot with his duty weapon.
***
Ashe never thought he’d agree.
Honestly, she thought she’d ask him, he’d say no, and that’d be the end of it.
She never realized that she’d leave his photo up in her cubicle, and it’d be the last thing that she saw every night as she locked her office door.
When they were kids, Ford used to be that boy that threw dirt at her and pulled her hair.
Now, he’s the same Ford Spurlock, only a whole lot sexier. And a lot harder to say no to.
When he challenges her to one date, she has no other recourse but to agree.
What she didn’t agree to was falling in love with Mr. March. Or wanting to give him everything she had to give.

Lani Lynn Vale!! YOU HAVE DONE IT YET AGAIN!!! I absolutely adored this read!!! Seriously! Ford and Ashe are amazing!!!
Ashe and Ford were frenemies. They grew up together, did a lot of messed up things together, broke bones together, had each other’s backs, and were at each other’s necks all their lives. They were antagonistic towards each other, but if one of them needed the other, they were there… no matter what. So what happens when all of that built up tension that they’d denied for so long finally explodes? Well, you get the awesomeness that Lani Lynn Vale created!
When Ashe and Ford got together, it was nothing like I expected and yet it was everything I wanted. From their banter to the ease of their relationship because they understood each other in a way you can only get someone when you’ve known them forever, I fell in love with these two so easily. There’s just something about the way this author writes that really speaks to me. It’s like she really gets me and my humor and provides me with the elements necessary for every read to be an amazing one. With the way I gobbled up this story, and then wished there was more to read, I couldn’t help but give it all the stars!
Lani Lynn Vale’s original KPD-SWAT series is one of my favorites from her, and it’s been so much fun to revisit those characters and get to know their children, along with some new characters, in this second generation series. Vale has created something truly unique for her readers in her fictional East Texas world. She’s been building this world for years—story by story and series by series—through many crisscrossing, overlapping books. Vale has given her readers an incredible reading experience, rich in unmatched character development and a world full of familiar faces.
Maybe Swearing Will Help, the third book in the S.W.A.T. Generation 2.0 series from Lani Lynn Vale, was a frenemies-to-lovers romance between Ashe Trammel and Ford Spurlock. Friends since childhood, Ashe and Ford have a complicated love/hate relationship in that they love to pretend they hate each other while also kind of hating the fact that they actually love each other.
“It was like a pasture fire deep in the middle of a Texas drought. He went from one extreme to the other. A whisper of smoke to totally consumed in point five seconds.”
Bickering, bantering and betting their way through life, Ashe and Ford’s fierce rivalry raged between them their whole lives. They try to snuff out the heat burning between them with sarcasm, snappy arguments and dares. But that fire never fizzles out, and eventually it engulfs them. I loved everything about these two. They fit together so well, and succumbing to the love they felt for each other felt like a natural progression of their relationship. They worked well together on every level, and I loved how their relationship morphed and changed when they finally gave in to their feelings. Vale introduced a suspense arc that will probably play out over a few books, and I loved how Ashe and Ford both dove into that case and worked it together.
Maybe Swearing Will Help was a sexy, sweet, soul-deep love story between two life-long friends, and Vale did a fantastic job weaving an exciting suspense story, along with plenty of humor, into this romance. Five smooches from me for Maybe Swearing Will Help by Lani Lynn Vale!

This one is really funny but also so really good. It was amazing! I love Ford and Ashe. Loved reading a story between two kids of the Dixie Wardens. And these two were the funniest. The love/hate relationship they have and how they can just joke around with no hard feelings lost. This is one of those friends to lovers story and is great. You have to go read it, if you haven’t already.
These second generations are definitely giving their parents a run for their money! They’re more out spoken if I could say, but they are loving, funny and sexy at the same time. It’s amazing to actually witness The Originals being older and becoming grandparents, love it and will recommend it.
March – This is the 3rd of the SWAT 2.0 Generation. Most of the men on the SWAT team have history with SWAT, as in their parents were the original SWAT.
Ford and Ashe knew each other since birth. Their parents are friends. Ford and Ashe also had a love/hate relationship.
This was an OK read. Better than the first 2 of the series, but still not the best. It was very predictable, and I hate when the author says that they always “loved each other” but have no problem sleeping with other people, but the female is always a virgin. UGH. And the whole no condom so they accidentally get pregnant? UGH
I’m glad they’re quick reads. I’ll keep reading hoping they get better. The author’s earlier stuff was better and less predictable.
I wanted to read more about the Spurlock’s since Somethin’ About That Boy. And any chance I could to pick up a LLV book you best believe I will. This frenemies to lovers story between Ashe and Ford was so much fun. The only thing I always find with LLV books is that they aren’t ever long enough. I laughed and I swooned and I wanted more more more.
Maybe Swearing will Help is a cute, fun, charming, and entertaining story. Ashe and Ford embark on a beautifully heartwarming journey. I absolutely loved this book.
Loved this book!!! This book had me cracking up! I could of read it forever! I loved Ford and Ashe together!! If you like enemies to lovers this book is for you! I couldnt put the book down!
Received an arc for an honest review.
I love every Lani Lynn Vale book – this one is no different.
Loved this! I was in a book slump and it pulled me out and made me want to reread her other books! Her trademark humor with the gut punches and lots of heat! Yet another great read!
I have a lot of this author’s books on my TBR list, but the cover and blurb for this one spoke to me so I decided to take the plunge. Ashe and Ford were a riot!
These 2 define frenemies from the moment they are old enough to speak, and it is clear to everyone around them that it’s only a matter of time before they finally realize their bickering is more about the love side of that fine line than hate. Sure they fight like cats and dogs at times but they always have each other’s back and no one gets between them. And they definitely cannot back down from a dare which leads to their current situation.
When Ashe decides she is going to try out for the police academy and SWAT to win a bet with Ford, it’s game on! I loved that he supported her independence but didn’t hesitate to throw down with anyone who talked trash about her. She is definitely an independent woman and as time wears on you can tell she is meant to be a profiler.
There is an underlying story of an investigation that seems like it will play out over additional stories in the series but I really enjoyed the focus on Ashe and Ford’s relationship. Their nicknames for each other had me giggling and they had an abundance of chemistry. I admit I did feel a bit lost regarding the relationship with other characters from previous stories since this is my first book by the author but all in all it was a fast highly enjoyable read that put a smile on my face!
The couple that I have been waiting on since Lani’s second series! She planted the seed for this particular couple way back in Torren’s book with a scene in his epilogue. Since then there’s been a lot of build up and I was prepared to be somewhat let down. Thinking surely she isn’t going to be able to give this couple the story they deserved. She did not let me down! They are everything they should be and yet somehow more!

I always say that this is my favorite LLV couple, but since it always happen with every new book I read, I’ll just say that I loved Ashe and Ford and took great delight in reading their shenanigans. They knew each other since kids and hated each other with a vengeance. They constantly dared each other, played tricks on each other, etc. Needless to say, they were murder on each other but nobody else touched their friend or face consequences.
What tickled me most was the different nicknames Ashe called Ford: GMC, Mazda, Chevy. As an insult he got: Prius and Kia. In return, Ford’s nicknames for Ashe: Soot, Slag, Ember. This showed their interaction for what it was, playful, naughty, a lot of bickering, and I could detect that underneath all their warfare, there was a deep affection and hot chemistry.
There wasn’t a lot of plot, just a sweet love story about childhood enemies turned sweethearts. How they overcame their bickering and learned to be together, and support each other. Also, Ashe entered into the KPD police, courtesy of her Uncle Luke and got to work with Ford. As always, there are some crazies, there’s a lot of family feeling and a heart warm environment. I loved both characters, Ashe is a nerdy spunky young woman, and Ford is a yummy sweet guy. I laughed when he stayed at her house, opened a drawer and found lots of his clothes from high school. And then she dared to tell him he couldn’t take them home with him. It showed how, despite the bickering, the devotion and the love has been there a long time.
The plot was a little scattered but after the book, the author explained that it was on purpose, laying the ground for future books. It shows how much we like this author, that in spite of the story having plot holes, we still love the story and the characters!
Wow! How did I get so wrapped up in these stories to the point I did not realize this is Book Three in the KPD Swat Generation 2.0 series? Well Lani Lynn Vale has a way of making me forget about time. She has a way of keeping me engulfed in all the antics and totally cheering on the hero and heroin in each story. Maybe Swearing Will Help did that for sure. I know it will do the same for you.
Ford and Ashe are the kids that have always challenged each other. Their history of antics go back to childhood. But with time, we all know that feelings can change, and with these two it was inevitable. Happily this story delves into how these two got to where they are. It also brings to light some very interesting scenarios and even more questions.
What good is a KPD story without adventures for the team? And when Ford and Ashe encounter troubles, nothing is ever as it seems. Yet with each turn of a corner to success there seems to always remain other questions left unanswered.
Lani Lynn makes it a point to alert us that those questions are like seeds in the mind that she hopes will grow. She assures us that those will be answered in later stories, and for me I can not wait.
Nicely done Lani Lynn Vale and I look forward to the next story.
Ashe and Ford have a love hate relationship but really, when it comes down to it, they have each other’s backs. Sure they fight and bicker and pick on each other the whole time, but they care about each other. And then the bet that brings out all the latent attraction. Will they ever be the same after?
I’ve only read the installment before this one, and this is in the same vein – fun and witty with loads of chemistry. Although I may not have liked it quite as much as Fries Before Guys, I still enjoyed it a lot and fell in love with alpha softie Ford, and sweet and sassy Ashe. Can’t wait for more SWAT Generation 2.0!
Ashe & Ford are so hot together, the twists left me gasping and I love this series so much. Lani Lynn Vale just pulls her readers in and weaves a story like this one around them, never wanting them to leave. I love this story and the continuation of the SWAT family. I highly recommend this book, series and author.
Ford Spurlock and Ashe Trammel have been fighting since they were babies growing up together. Even as adults Ford and Ashe find one way to up one another and when Ashe needs Ford’s help, he gives her a challenge he knows she can’t do, however she does it. Now Ford is around Ashe all the time and denying he is attracted to her is becoming more difficult to ignore.
Ashe knows she wants Ford even if he is too stubborn to see it. What happens when one thing leads to another, can they find a way to become more then foes?
Loved this story, both Ashe and Ford are a handful and some of the stories from them growing up are hilarious. You also get a peak into some of the other kids into the series which I am anxious to read about. This story was surprising, Ashe was unique and can’t wait for the next book.
Ford and Ashe’s book was a cute enemies to lovers book. The type where Ford was allowed to pick on Ashe but no one else better touch her. Most of the story was sweet, subtle attraction…just thinking they won’t work. But boy, they so do. Steamy with just a tiny bit of a cat mystery going on. Entertaining and fun to read.
Maybe Swearing Will Help by Lani Lynn Vale is the third book in one of her latest series, SWAT Generation 2.0 . All stories in this series so far have started with the day the calendar photo shoot is scheduled for a fundraiser starring the SWAT team members. This is Ford Spurlock and Ashe Trammel’s story. Best friends, bitter enemies, lifelong rivals, pick your day and they are one of those descriptors. When Ford challenges Ashe to join the SWAT team she can’t say no, goes to officer training over the winter break, passes and gets a better job with better pay than him. Figures. But the extended time together is making each of them realize that the combustible competitiveness between them isn’t just that – it is also a ton of sexual chemistry and strong affection drawn from there lifelong hate/love friendship. When they loosen the reins on their self-control a little, wonderful things happen between them that surprise both of them. Add in some cat kidnapping, a serial murder case, and some extremely protective family members and you have another wonderful tale from the town of Kilgore, Texas and the mind of the wonderful Lani Lynn Vale. Enjoy!
