Ford Spurlock has known Ashe Trammel since they were babies. He’s also done his level best to stay away from her because every time he gets to within five feet of her, they’re fighting like cats and dogs.Ashe is the apple of her father’s eye. The motorcycle club princess that was never to be harmed in any way—or touched for that matter. And he’s always resented the fact that she could get away … could get away with things that he couldn’t. Things that she then blames on him and he always gets punished for.
Fast forward to adulthood, and Ashe is still off limits. Still driving him insane. Still…beautiful.
She never misses an opportunity to give him hell, either.
That has to be why he agrees to do a photoshoot for KPD SWAT that’ll benefit her charity even when he’d rather shoot himself in the foot with his duty weapon.

Ashe never thought he’d agree.
Honestly, she thought she’d ask him, he’d say no, and that’d be the end of it.
She never realized that she’d leave his photo up in her cubicle, and it’d be the last thing that she saw every night as she locked her office door.
When they were kids, Ford used to be that boy that threw dirt at her and pulled her hair.
Now, he’s the same Ford Spurlock, only a whole lot sexier. And a lot harder to say no to.
When he challenges her to one date, she has no other recourse but to agree.
What she didn’t agree to was falling in love with Mr. March. Or wanting to give him everything she had to give.

I just discovered my favorite SWAT character: Ford Spurlock! I love the Spurlock family from all their books (Trance, Viddy, Pace, etc), but he is taking them to the next level! Ford and Ashe are now my favorite couple in this series and their story is so good and emotional. Lani Lynn Vale is an author with no excuses, her characters are quirky, witty and so different from anyone else that is impossible not to like them (even when they are holding a gun!). But what I like about her books is their humanity, which makes the books so more than about police officers catching the bad guys.
This book is a fine example of her writing skills and I just love it!!!
I am loving SWAT Generation 2.0 from LLV, a friend/enemies to love romance, in this installment we get the story of Ford and Ashe. They both grew up in the Dixie Wardens MC family, they have known each other all of their lives, and spent most of their time being enemies. But as we know, sometimes an enemy can make the best lover, husband and partner, and boy to do these two light up the pages, and will also keep you laughing out loud, but never fear you will get your HEA.
5 When Frenemies Become Lovers Stars!!
I’m so loving this Next Generation series by LLV. I’m not going to lie though in that I think I’m missing some things because I haven’t read all the parent’s books before these…I’m working on it though! Ford and Ashe made me laugh more times than I can count in this book. Their relationship started practically at birth and they’ve been antagonizing each other for years! The best part of this relationship is their nicknames for each other that literally had me chuckling every single time!!
Ford Spurlock is on the Kilgore SWAT team and Ashe has just finished her studies as a Criminal Psychologist and she’d love to work in Kilgore but that may not happen. She makes a wager with Ford that if she tries to get on the SWAT team he’ll pose for the calendar and proceeds will go to her favorite cat charity…yeah I could see it coming that this wasn’t going to go well… the men of the Kilgore police department completely and totally underestimated this girl and I LOVED IT!!!
I loved how their relationship changed from friends to lovers. They’ve always had an attraction but refused to admit it for a variety of reasons. But now they’re adults and are ready to face what’s been simmering between them for years!
There’s also a bit of suspense in this book on a few different levels that really had me concerned because things were happening, and I just couldn’t figure out what it was. There’s also something Ashe is working on that is the reason she studied what she did. She’s going to solve this mystery. In the meantime, she and Ford get into a few sticky situations that both had me chuckling and cringing. Their bantering was spot on!! But I also loved how Ford protected Ashe at all costs showing exactly who his heart belongs to.
I know LLV is setting up the next several books with the actions and suspense in this book and I can’t wait to have some of my questions answered!!
This book made my little heart so happy. I laughed, I wiped tears of joy and a few sniffles. I won’t lie. Lani Lynn Vale brought her game with this book. It had everything we have grown accustomed to with one her books with a twist.
Frenemies. That is such a fun little word. Instead of saying this all started with a beer. It all started with a little wager. hehe.
Gotta love a book with characters who backstories flow and entwine like a fine wine. Ashe and Ford have been through so much together they do not have many memories apart. The only issue is they cannot stand each other.
Ford and Ashe’s chemistry is off the charts. I loved the banter. The way these two played off each other had me flipping the pages like an addict.
This story also has a mystery woven into that we are trying to solve along with them while we are right there in Ashe and Ford’s story. It was seamless and kept us on our toes as these two worked everything out.
4.5 Stars
Maybe Swearing Will Help is the third title in the SWAT Generations series and features Ford and Ashe. This pair grew up in the Dixie Wardens MC, even made an appearance in the epilogue of Charge to My Line and know each other inside and out. Their story is an enemies to lovers romance packed full of heat, heart and humor.
Ford is the son of Trance and Viddy who appeared originally in Kevlar To My Vest, and he’s much like his father. This SWAT officer is an alpha to the core. He’s sweet, sexy, protective and attentive.
Ashe is the daughter of Tru and Torren who originally appeared in Charge to My Line, and she’s intelligent, driven, hard working and strong. I love a fierce, feisty and sassy heroine, which is exactly what you get with Ashe.
The animosity and pranks hide an undeniable chemistry and attraction when they finally confront their feeling their interactions are steamy and passionate.
With strong themes of family and friendship, I can’t wait for the next addition to this captivating and entertaining series.
5 Stars
Ford and Ashe have known each other all of their lives, and spend most of their time at each other’s throats. You know how when you’re little and boys/girls are mean to you because they like you? Well, that sums these two up perfectly. Only it takes them forever to realize they both have feelings for each other. Everyone else knows they are in love and meant to be. I adored the nicknames they had for each other and laughed throughout this whole story. These two know each other inside and out and when they finally come together and give in to the tension…BOOM! They are nothing short of hella hot. This one is definitely one of my favorites.

Ford Spurlock, aka Mr. March, and Ashe Trammel finally get their story. They have been friends or have known each other for years but enjoyed antagonizing each other more than trying to maintain a healthy relationship.
Ford and Ashe are both very ‘real’ people, people I felt you could relate to easily. Ford is the ultimate alpha and Ashe is a capable, strong woman. They both give as good as they receive and pretty much take it on the chin. The underlying factor that they both seemed to miss, yet others didn’t, was that they also protected each other.
This is a light-hearted almost frenemies to lover’s story and as well as the mystery of the missing cats! Kittens and cats go missing in Kilgore for no apparent reason, a lot of them. This leads to some drama and action that gets the pace going.
Maybe Swearing Will Help is an easy to read, laid back, feel-good book that has quite a few very humorous moments.

This book had me rolling around laughing from the start to the finish. This was a story that I had been looking forward to because Ashe’s Dad, Torren has always been my favourite Lani Lynn Vale character, so who wouldn’t want a little more of the Trammel family. Ford and Ashe were like a cat and mouse toying with each other from the start, a childhood rivalry that had continued into adulthood. The antics, the names and the sexual tension that you experience with these two has this being one of the most entertaining stories so far in the SWAT Generation 2.0 series. A story that will make you laugh out loud, have you feeling every emotion from hate to love and is just one of those books that leaves you on a high of happiness. Ford and Ashe are passionate, fiery and just down right enchanting.
There’s a fine line between love and hate and Ashe and Ford go back and forth. It was actually fun getting to read their banter. You can sense the underlying sexual tension in their interactions and I could tell that it was only a matter of time before it exploded. And it was explosive! This is fun, sexy, witty, and I couldn’t put it down.
From heartstopping to heartwarming, Lani Lynn Vale definitely makes her presence known. At first glimpse, she entices with humor and then tempts the senses with so much more. Maybe Swearing will Help is endearingly, alluring. Ford and Ashe sneak up on your emotional blindside to wreak havoc on your heart. A story like this one is easy to love. The hard part is saying goodbye when the end has come and gone.
“Maybe Swearing Will Help” Book 3 of Lani Lynn Vale’s new series features Ford and Ashe. And I think that Mazda and Soot () just might be my favorite couple out of all the couples in the KPD Swat Generation: 2.0 series (so far at least).
Mazda and Ember() are hilarious together – as you can probably tell by the games they play with their names!
Friends since childhood, they grew up hating each other, everything a competition between them.
They prove the old saying ‘a fine line between love and hate’ is true.
Ford is a sexy alpha male and has reached a point in his life where he can no longer deny his feelings for his childhood nemesis and he sets out to trap her into a relationship.
Ashe is smart and is one hell of a determined woman. When she sets her mind on something she doesn’t give up. So it’s no wonder that she allows herself to fall for the boy/man that she grew up with.
Their happily ever after fits them to a T.
TBR this fantastic book and if you haven’t read the other books in the series, TBR those as well. (I read an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.)
4 Star Review Maybe Swearing Will Help (Swat Next Generation 2.0 #3) by Lani Lynn Vale
This is Ford Spurlock and MC princess Ashe Trammel’s enemies to friends to lovers story.
They have been adversaries since birth, so their history is long and complicated, but underneath it all is a relationship built on friendship. They fight like cats and dogs and yet there is a fine line between love and hate. Particularly as the sexual tension between them is building.
I liked Ford, he is certainly an alpha male who was frustrated and confused about the feelings that Ashe brings to the surface. While Ashe is attracted to him, she knows the smart thing to do is avoid him.
Ashe is shocked when Ford agrees to be Mr March in the charity calendar as she was sure he would say no.
Ashe is a strong, feisty young woman that I greatly admired. The banter and humour that arc between them had me laughing and smiling, whilst their chemistry is intense and steamy. The connection between them is obvious to everyone around them.
There were times that I laughed, I cried, I wanted to scream but through it all I was invested in Ford and Ashe’s story. The addition of mystery and suspense added to my enjoyment.
Maybe Swearing Will Help was an entertaining read that I enjoyed.
Maybe Swearing Will Help is smexy, funny, and sweetly emotional (seriously I cannot stop thinking about the two of them).
I fell in love with Ford and Ashe. The constant frenemy push and pull that they’ve had their entire lives is intoxicating to read and I couldn’t put it down. I had to know what trouble they got into in their youth and then see what steamy emotions they were going to incite in each other as adults. It was all so, so good.
Luckily we didn’t have to wait long to get to the smexy times with these two because whew!!! Ford and Ashe deliver passionate hate-love sex and then we get a delicious story where they both have to come to grips with their frenemy status. This is my favorite SWAT 2.0 story yet.
Hints of what is coming next along with past characters popping in always makes Lani’s stories feel like coming home.
