What a unique story. Maybe Later was unlike anything I’ve read before as the majority of this tale was told via chat/emails. It was funny, emotional and sweet and I enjoyed every moment of it. This novel will evoke a range of emotions from you and have you invested in these characters and rooting for them in no time.
This is a story about two people who created different personas for themselves and developed an unlikely relationship after at first disliking each other. These characters are flawed and complex yet so well-developed and I enjoyed the witty back and forth banter they had going on.
This was a slow burn romance that flowed seemlessly from one chat to the next. Its a story about building trust and friendship and learning how to open up to other people and maybe falling in love.
Claudia hit it out of the park with this contemporary romance. It was unexpected and witty and a phenomenal page-turner. I loved it and would highly recommend it.
Maybe Later is a fun and unique office romance with a grumpy CEO and a quirky vertual assistant. It took me a few chapters to really get hooked and I kept wondering how this book was going to play out, but the fun and witty banter quickly had me connecting with these characters and curious about their story. Overall, Maybe Later is a refreshing and uplifting story!
I received a review copy of the book before release for an honest review.
This is a brand new author for me but it was really awesome. Essentially it features 4 characters:
Jack
Jackson
Amy
Emmaline
The author did an amazing job in introducing us to all 4 characters and bringing them together.
It also features a lot of back and forth emails as the couple gets to know the other. It was very well written and also we really get to see into the darkness of each character and I loved every second.
This is a story of two very broken people but also a story about redemption and falling in love with lots of humor thrown into the mix.
Maybe Later by Claudia Y. Burgoa was a great surprise from this author. A slow burn romance with characters that had great chemistry and banter. A reclusive CEO in need of an assistant and the virtual assistant who is going to rock his world. I was captivated from start to finish!
Jackson Spearman does not play well with others and is practically a recluse. Trusting new people is very difficult, but when his current assistant goes on maternity leave, he needs someone to step in. Enter Amy and though she gets the job done, he finds her to be more open and persistent than he prefers. Jackson was cranky and aloof at the beginning, but we get to see more of him as the story progresses.
On the other hand, Amy was cheerful, outgoing and a very hard worker. Their interactions are fun and flirty. There were a bit of surprises on both ends. I truly enjoyed reading Maybe Later by Claudia Y. Burgoa. I found it to be funny, charming and unique.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
I really enjoyed this book. It’s a little different in the beginning because the characters only interact through text, chat, and emails. I liked the banter between the characters. There were many funny moments that had me chuckling. There were also heartfelt serious moments as well. Jackson has me approval if one of the picky cats chose him. There is one part involving the cats that solidifies my opinion of Jackson. That was another thing I enjoyed about the book the kitties Ramen and Sushi. I’m a fan of pets in books that always had a little special touch. The epilogue is the perfect touch to this book. This is a book I highly recommend.
When I read a Claudia Burgroa book, she usually tears my heart out, rips it to shreds. Normally her books are full of drama, angst, and a rocky path to a happily ever after. But Maybe Later isn’t like that. This book was fun, lighthearted, hilarious, and low-angst. Just a perfect light, fun read.
I have never read a book written like this one. Most of the book takes place through emails, and messages sent between Jackson and Amy. I don’t want to give away to much about them, but these two have tons of chemistry between them.
A slow burn romance, lots of building up to love. I highly recommend Maybe Later if you’re in the mood for a fun, feel good read that will have you smiling the whole time.
I loved this quirky and entertaining love story.
It was a slow burn and quite odd in the best way.
Such a great book absolutely loved it
A charming, engaging story that has ensured this author has a new fan
This author has been on my TBR for a while now, and all I can say is, “ Why did it take me so long?”
Start with my favorite kind of lead characters—two people who’ve both been hurt in the past, but encourage each other to step outside of their comfort zone. Amy is smart, competent and sassy while Jackson is broody, talented and driven and I loved their banter and the way their antagonistic relationship morphs into friendship with a potential for more.
A slow burn romance that still has plenty of sizzle, add in lots of laughs, a touch or two of angst, plus a plot twist or three, and you’ve got a charming, engaging story that has ensured this author has a new fan. My first book by the author, but certainly not my last. 5 stars

This book wasn’t anything like the other books by Claudia Burgoa. Maybe Later is an enemies to lovers rom com. Jackson Spearman is a difficult man to deal with. He is a billionaire CEO who works all the time, isn’t close to people outside of his family, and is set in his ways. When his assistant goes on maternity leave he is set up with a virtual assistant. Amy is a virtual assistant to several people and she’s really good at what she does. When she gets Jackson as a client she doesn’t let him steamroll her. I enjoyed the witty banter between the two, this was a slow build, real life type of relationship. Although I did laugh a lot, my heart broke for Amy. That poor girl has been through a lot. I was so happy to see her finally find love. Great Story! I highly recommend it to everyone who enjoys a well written romantic comedy.
I enjoy Claudia’s stories because her characters always touch my heart. This one was especially fascinating because of the way Jackson Spearman and Amy Walker meet. Jackson is the CEO of a very lucrative software company and Amy is contracted to be his virtual assistant while his actual assistant is on maternity leave. I found the whole interacting “virtually” to be a lot of fun. It’s a different way of telling the story. From the beginning there is a budding of heads. Jackson is a grumpy, moody boss and Amy is a little too intrusive and cheerful for his taste with her playlists and inspirational quotes. The back and forth between them is hilarious. I love that Amy doesn’t back down from his insulting tone and gives as good as she gets, maybe even better. As they continue their professional relationship, their personal one begins to take shape and some of those professional lines start to blur.
There are a few twists and turns that were very intriguing like the truth behind his guarded heart and her reluctance to trust anyone and give love a chance. I did like the way the author made the characters evolve and really examine what and who they wanted. They worked out their issues individually and became stronger individuals. Maybe Later will make you cry, will make you laugh and will make you swoon in such a delicious way. Go read it!
There are just some authors that are an automatic one click and Claudia Burgoa is so one of those authors. She says this isn’t something I typically write and guess what that was a good thing! This book is so damn sweet and refreshing and I wanted to cry at times too. One all of those elements are spoken for you have an amazing read.
Maybe Later was not anything I expected at first I was like what is this. However, the book totally redeemed itself and then some. I absolutely loved Em and Jack.
Kudos for stepping out of your comfort zone and doing something different, it was perfect!
Absolutely loved this author’s first foray into romcom.
“One of my favourite clients calls me a ninja.”
Jackson Spearman is something of a ‘problem child’. He’s difficult, demanding, cold and a workaholic. When his PA goes on maternity leave, she sets him up with a virtual assistant – Amy Walker. She’s not quite what he wants but he’s locked into a contract, and even if he bought his way out of it, he’ll be stuck without a PA for months, as no one wants to work for him.
“She was looking for a fairy tale. A love as deep as the ocean and as beautiful as her.”
Amy Walker is like a ray of sunshine with her chirpy attitude, her inspirational quotes of the day, and her music playlist. He has no digital footprint so Amy has no idea who she’s working for. She’s fantastic at her job but somewhat reclusive, preferring to interact with the outside world from behind her computer screen.
“Believing I was falling in love with two people left me feeling as if my heart was splitting in two.”
As the two of them exchange emails and messages, what starts off as prickly snarkiness between them, slowly develops into a great working relationship, and also curiosity about each other in real. When they both meet possible relationship candidates in real life, their feelings start getting torn because it’s ridiculous to have feelings for someone you’ve never met in real life – and not even seen a picture of them. Right?
I adored this story! The exchanges between Amy and Jackson were funny, witty, often biting, but you could really see how things changed between them, and how well their suited each other. When they both meet other people in real life, you could see how just how mixed up their felt. Both were carrying scars from the past and both had to learn to trust again. They had fabulous, hot chemistry, and I adored the conclusion.
Maybe Later by Claudia Burgoa is her first rom-com and I hope is not the last one, because this book was soo good!!
I love all about this book, the funny and romantics moments. Also i love the whole messages and email between the hero and heroine.
The Hero an the Heroine complete each other perfectly, both have a goal in mind where love is not part of them but we know faith and destiny have always others stuff in their plans. So if you want to know how is the story and all the background between these two beautiful characters you need to read this book ASAP!!!
If you have read any other Claudia’s books you will love this one even though is different and if you havent read her you need to start with this one!!
Congratulations Claudia for another amazing story!! Cant wait to read another story by you
Jackson is not happy that he has to use a replacement admin but he HAS to while his is out on leave. He’s bossy, wants everything his way and isn’t very tactful. His new virtual assistant Amy is exactly what he needs. Does all of her duties with no problems.
When they start emailing back and forth and it starts getting more and more personal they start falling for each other. It’s sweet, it’s funny, it’ll make you sigh. There were times I was like WHAT? than hmmmm….lol A cute book!
What a fun book this was! A lot of the story is told via messages between Jackson and Amy. Amy’s responses to Jackson’s demands had me laughing out loud. The man obviously doesn’t handle change well and the resulting interactions were very entertaining. I really liked how the characters connected with each other. They started out as antagonists and slowly began to respect each other, and then moved to friendship. I was really pulling for these two to find their way.
While this book is lighter and without the angst of many of Claudia’s books, the underlying theme of many of hers is the same: you have to love yourself in order to wholly love another. I love that so many of her characters actively try to work on their mental health, whether they have relatively minor issues or major illnesses. Our society has such a stigma around mental illnesses and books like this go a long way to break down those barriers. And as always, I love the little glimpses of other characters in the Burgoa Universe – another VAES client, an inscription in a used bookstore, minor character appearances, just enough to make me smile and think “I know you!”
Let me start out by saying I usually need a box of tissues close by when I read one of Claudia’s books but this one was different, not only did I not need the tissues I was actually laughing out loud at times! This book touched on some heavy subjects, like, being the perfect child and divorce, but honestly it didn’t wallow in it so you didn’t feel the over abundance of emotions…YAY! I really couldn’t deal with that right now in my real life I needed this light, fun romance.
Claudia takes us on a journey of self growth and empowerment for both the Hero and the heroine, each having different obstacles to overcome, but she does it with quotes of the day and playlists as well as snarky emails and quick wit. I loved the banter between the two before and after it was figured out whom the other was. This book was like a breath of fresh air on a gloomy day.
If you enjoyed the movie “You’ve Got Mail” this is the perfect book for you, I for one absolutely adored that movie and watch it whenever I catch it on cable. If you are looking for an Office Romance that’s more than just a Boss/Employee Relationship this book is for you. I would recommend this book to just about anyone looking for a fun sweet read that has some sexy times but isn’t looking for that to be the whole make-up of the book. Happy Reading!!!
**I voluntarily reviewed and Advanced Readers Copy of this book**
Maybe Later by Claudia Burgoa is the story of Jackson Spearman and Amy Walker. This was such a hot employer/employee romance read!! Billionaire CEO Jackson isn’t known for his patience and pleasant personality. He is a grump and must have things his way in order for his life to stay on track. When his personal assistant ends up going on maternity leave, a virtual replacement is hired named “Amy”. Amy is super efficient to the 1000th degree and she’s a bit sassy but deals with his moods in an perfect way. Jackson at first couldn’t stand Amy but soon his feelings thawed towards her. He even finds that he looks forward to speaking with her and finds himself drawn towards her…and another woman.
Amy finds herself enjoying the time speaking and working with Jackson. She even has come to enjoy his prickly and grumpy personality. Their banter is fun and entertaining. But Amy has also met another man who has opened up the chemistry between them. There is something going on and Amy feels conflicted because she has feelings for 2 different men. Amy has to do something quick and end it fast because of her feelings…because Amy has this huge secret…just like Jackson has a huge secret.
There are so many twists in this book. The push/pull will have you holding on to your seat. The emotions will have you glued and the characters are outstanding. I loved the chemistry and the feels. Great humor in this story. Outstanding HEA!!!
My Rating: 4.5 stars ******
This was a fantastic read and such a different format to other books I have read and it worked perfectly. Jackson is gruff , demanding, expects perfection and doesn’t like to change. Amy takes up as his VA when his assistant goes on maternity leave and boy did he not expect what he got. Good luck not literally laughing out load at times, sighing out of frustration or attraction and at times wanting to physically shake them at times due to their interactions. This is definitely a book you would read again as it was so much fun mixed with romance and characters who grab you.
Witty. Humorous. Complex.
That’s how I’d describe this amazing tale between the characters. This book will have you in awe from the creativity of the lovely Claudia Burgoa. Such an amazingly crafted set of characters who teach you lessons within the story. The banter between Amy and Jackson will have you howling with laughter. The explanations for why they are who they are, will have you sobbing. Such a well thought out storyline. It gives you all of the best parts of a romance. If you like cheeky comments, quirky personalities and a good emotional tie, this book may be up your alley.
