I left my hometown unexpectedly when I was a teenager. Now, twelve years later, I am returning for my sister Alicia’s wedding. It’s time to face my past and all the people who hurt me, one in particular…Max Logan. He is now a man who has many more responsibilities to bare than when we were eighteen years old. Can I face him without the pain and embarrassment creeping back up or can we just pick … pick up right where we left off? ~~ Abigail
I fell for my best friend. When she left on a whim, it was my fault. I never saw her off or let her know how I felt. She is now returning because her sister is getting married. I am the best man and she is the maid of honor. Our paths will definitely cross. Will she give me the time of day or treat me like I’m invisible? ~~Max

This is more like a 3.5 star rating.. I liked the story line a lot but the sex scenes made me laugh instead of getting turned on. First off I thought they jumped into very fast and the dirty talk is why I was laughing. Here’s an example she wants him to enter her, he says”You want this? She replies with “Yes, big boy.” I’m sorry but this made me laugh so hard. Some of the dialect was written childlike. I mean I don’t want to be mean but it threw me off. I liked Max and Abigail a lot and their second chance romance was very sweet and romantic. I’m glad I got their closure and the truth was released.
Maxed Out is about Abigail (Abs) and Max. Max and Abs hung out in secret in high school because Abigail wanted it that way. Max was in love with her. They get caught one night by Abby’s dad, and he sends her away to her aunt and uncle’s in CA to live and go to college. 12 years later, she is coming back to town for her sister’s wedding, and Max is best man as he is the groom’s best friend. Abby is not sure how this will go, but she can’t disappoint her sister. Max now has a 5 year old son, that he is solely responsible for. Max wants Abby back as he has never gotten over her or forgotten her. He sets out to wow her on her return to town. As soon as they see each other, the feelings they have are back. Max talks Abby into staying with him and his son. Abby and Jake have an instant kinship and that is surprising to Max. Will they be able to make their lives mesh and get together? Or are there still sources doing everything they can to keep them apart? You need to read to find out. I knew Abby’s Dad was evil, but the extreme’s he went to to keep them apart was staggering, and I wish it was told why he did this. His problems were barely discussed. The epilogue makes me wonder if there might be another book coming about other characters in the book. Wish it had been longer as I truly enjoyed reading about Max and Abs. If you like second chances, you should definitely pick this one up.
Second chance romance for Max and Abby. These two are interesting characters, Max wants to rekindle the high school romance and she’s not so sure. The book moves quickly for the most part. There are some editing hiccups but overall was an OK read.
I enjoyed reading this story. Always like to read second chance romances. They had some past to go through and resolve but nice that they were given a second opportunity to find happiness.
This story was a fast read. Inenjoyed reading it. It has been 12 years and Abby is coming home for her sister’s wedding. She’s not sure how she feels about seeing and old friend Max. Nobody knew about them having a relationship till they got caught. Abbys father sends her away to her aunts to attend college. This story takes us on their journey. Very good read.
This book was a great read. I always enjoy second chance romance and throw a child in the mix and I was hooked from the beginning. I wished the story was a bit longer though and that it wasn’t so rushed but overall a good book. Definitely recommended.
I really like Max and Abigail’s story. They are getting a second chance at love and it’s shocking to find out a big reason they didn’t work out the first time. Max is a single dad and an all around great guy. Abigail is a workaholic and has some issues with her dad that you learn about throughout the book. The story line is really good and keeps you invested from start to finish. I love a good second chance romance and this one definitely doesn’t disappoint.
Their story was quick. They reunited due to a wedding and a lot was discovered that kept them apart. Her job was in CA and he had a kid so things were stacked against them. Would have enjoyed a little more angst when they reunited but it was well written
This could have been a really good book. Instead it was so so. Here were so many errors it became a problem. A good beta team would help if you’re not going to have it professionally edited. The story also needed more meat. It had a great storyline but just needed more.
This is a fun quick read. Two gorgeous people told they can’t be with each other. They are young and have no choice. Years pass, 12 to be exact, and they see each other for the first time. It’s like they were never apart. Life has a funny way to throw curve balls at you. Can they make it work for their sake?
Good story. To find true love again
This was a quick read. Abigail and Max we’re together in high school but she always wanted it to stay hidden. She wasn’t part of the popular group and Max was. She didn’t want to be seen as a downer to Max. One night her dad found Max and Abby in the car. He was so livid that he sent her away for 12 years. She never forgot Max. She was nervous about seeing him again at her sisters wedding to Max’s best friend. Secrets are uncovered and feelings are messed up. Max still loves Abs and wants her in his life with his son. Will she accept what has happened and feelings for Max that are still there or will she run away like she’s been doing? You need to read this book.
I did enjoy Abby and Max’s story, but I felt that there were a few spots that were too rushed. They haven’t seen each other in over a decade, but when they’re face to face again, they find that the old attraction is still there. Of course, now they have to decide if their possible future is worth fighting for or if they’ll just go their separate ways after their time together now.
I figured that Abby’s dad was a jerk, and we do find out just how much of a jerk, but it felt like her dad and his issues were too quickly tossed out for everyone to discover and forgive. If we’d had more time devoted to the problems caused by her father, this would’ve definitely been a 4 read to me. Overall, though, it was entertaining and kept me reading to the bitter end.
