NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The Carolina Cold Fury’s hot new star shows his bad-boy teammates that even nice guys can score big in this steamy hockey romance from the bestselling author of Ryker and Hawke (“Sexy, emotional, and fantastic!” —Sandi Lynn). The ice is a cold mistress. As the league’s most eligible goalie, Max Fournier has access to his fair share of willing puck bunnies, but right … share of willing puck bunnies, but right now he’s more interested in bringing home another championship than a one-night stand. A romantic at heart, Max believes in love; he’s just not great at relationships. So when he finally meets a nice girl who’s not blinded by his celebrity, he’s feeling the heat—and the pressure to save her from herself.
Between working two jobs and raising her sister’s kids, Julianne Bradley doesn’t have time for sports—or men. All she knows about Max is that he’s the sexiest customer to ever grace her gas-station counter. And he sees past her tired eyes and makes Jules yearn for things she can’t have: a glamorous fling, a passionate lover, and the time to enjoy both. Max makes her feel like Cinderella, even though Jules has enough baggage to crush a glass slipper. Luckily, he’s no prince—only a fierce competitor determined to win her heart.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
Max Fournier is part of the Carolina Cold Fury hockey team and he hopes to be the starting goalie this season. He is getting in the best shape he can and his life is perfect or so he thinks until he sees HER.
Julianne Bradley is working two jobs taking care of three small children and no time for much of anything else in her life, there just isn’t enough time in a day for it.
One his way home one night he stops at a store for some junk food, don’t tell Vale his trainer, he sees the cashier being harassed by a couple of men. So being the better man, Max steps up to save the day. He turns out to be Jules real life prince charming. But Jules isn’t sure how to take all of his kindness. She feels guilty taking anything from him and it only gets worse when she finds out who he really is.
When word gets out that “the Max Fournier” has a girlfriend, the press wants to know if she is a real life Cinderella or a Gold-digger? This only makes Jules doubt herself and her relationship with Max. She knows how she feels about him. But can she handle the pressure of the few fans that will always be haters because they are jealous? Will Max back off and give her space to figure out what she needs to do? Or will her need to figure things out drive them apart?
I have loved every man in this Cold Fury Hockey series and I think Max has stolen my heart. He is just so perfect it makes me swoon. But then, I think bring on Roman!!! I love Sawyer Bennett and her stories are the best. If you haven’t read anything from her yet, start with any of her series, you will not be disappointed.
sweet
Heart melting, witty, charming, sensual, and beautiful. Max is the sweetest, kindest, and most endearing man ever. All the men in this series have been sweethearts when they find their other halves but Max is caring and tender from the beginning. He’s just a wonderful man. This was a sultry, sweet, and heartwarming journey to go on with Max and Jules.
I have always attempted to give ‘star’ ratings on my completed reads, just as a tracking method for my titles that I have completed. I have unlimited packages for audio, kindle, and utilize the local/state library.
However, I do not check the ‘I recommend this book’ unless I am willing to reread a book and or a series.
[I read about 5-15 books a month through kindle, and I listen to about 15-30 books monthly]
I have a full life as a nurse, professor, wife, daughter [daughter in law], sister, and mother. I love to read and love a thousand other lives by turning the pages in countless books.
Thank you for the opportunity to provide a review. Happy reading 🙂
Sawyer Bennett knocked it out of the park with this one! I absolutely LOVE this book. Max and Jules may just be my favorite pair yet, and this is a fabulous series! This book would stand alone, but DEFINITELY read these in order if you can to increase your enjoyment. What makes this book different isn’t just the wonderful characters. This book is well integrated into the series in such a unique way. The story takes place concurrent with the previous story, Hawke, and if you read that book you will recognize segments of the timeline but this time from Max’s point of view. I absolutely loved that perspective and fun integration! Stevie from the flower shop is back, along with many of the previous characters. The romance is well paced and this pair is adorable along with the 3 kids that come in tow! This series just keeps getting better and better.
Swoon…swoon…swoon.
“When I know something is good for me and I want it, I go forward with guns blazing until I get what I want.”
Max is EVERYTHING! I absolutely loved this book. It has so much depth and emotion. There is heartache for family, friendship, hardships, acceptance, fear, uncertainty, alpha, steamy goodness and new beginnings.
“He’ll not only give you every bit of his heart, but he’ll give you his soul.”
Hot. Damn. Max is my new favorite Cold Fury player!! The way he is with Jules is heart warming and I loved that right from the start he wanted something more than a fling. So that drama was non existent. It was sweet how he brought out things in Jules that she’d had to give up on since her life had become beyond hectic. I was almost afraid towards the end that one of the story lines was going to be left loose but ultimately I was not left hanging. Some of the best scenes were between Max and the kids. So cute. Love. Love. Love Max.
I just love this series, and Max just makes me love it more. This book is about another Cold Fury player, Max. I think you could read this as a stand alone, but the entire series is worth a read. Max is one of the sweet players. He isn’t all about women. Jules is one of my favorite females from this series. She doesn’t expect anything. She takes things in stride. What a woman!! Once you read the story, you will understand why I made that last statement. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger.
I swear, I can’t get enough of Sawyer Bennett. I will admit that in the past, I would go back and forth about her books but for the past year or so just about everything I’ve read, I’ve read quickly and have really enjoyed it. Max is no exception. This is book six in the Cold Fury Series but it absolutely can be read as a standalone. I can attest to that because it was my first book I’ve read in the series and I didn’t feel like I missed anything. Sure, there are other characters in the book when you know their story has already been told but it didn’t do anything other than make me want to go back and read all of the books from the start. However, I’m afraid no one will be able to stand up to Max. What a way to start out for me.
Max Fournier is a goalie for the Cold Fury, who was benched the past year due to injuries. He’s healthy again and ready to concur the new season. They are fresh off a title win and he’s hungry to keep it going. What he didn’t expect was to run into a woman at the local convenience store that would absolutely turn his world upside down.
When Max first meets, Julieanne, she’s working at the convienence store and happens to have three kids with her. She looks tired and worn down but there’s something about her that just calls to him. He does everything he can to make sure he runs into her again. He’s all but given up when he does in fact run into her at another job she has at a nursing home. This time, he’s determined to keep the woman he finds so fascinating in his life.
Julieanne is tired. She is now raising her sister’s three kids and working two jobs to make ends meet. She barely has time to sit down for 10 minutes to eat a meal before she’s on the run again and trying to keep up with all her responsibilities. She remembers Max from the first night they met and she can’t stop thinking about him but she has zero time for anything personal. However, she quickly finds out that Max is going to stick around, regardless of how how she fights.
This is a quick read that I really enjoyed. I really liked Julieanne “Jules.” She’s loyal and a hard worker and has a kind heart. She’s a giver who has zero time to focus on herself and you know she would do anything for those in her life.
Max is perfect for her. He treats her right, lets her know how special she is and is absolutely one of the sweet guys I’ve read in a long time. I don’t normally do sweet but I’ll be damned if he didn’t sweep me off my feet in his pursuit for Jules. His focus and care towards here was melting. His fame isn’t easy on either of them but he does everything that he can to make sure she’s happy and she knows that she’s the one for him.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I love the style of writing that Sawyer Bennet does. It just all flows so easily and it always keeps me wanting more. If you are looking for the sweetest hockey player ever that treats his girl like the Cinderella that she is, then this is the book for you!
Max is another great book in this awesome series. What I loved most about this book were the characters. Max and Jules aren’t your typical characters you expect to see in a contemporary sports romance. Especially Max was a great character and the main reason why I loved this book. In most sports romance the guy is a player and doesn’t really want to commit to one girl. Max was the opposite, he was done playing the field early on in his career. He wanted what his parents had: a rock solid never ending romantic relationship, where the fire is still burning even after so many years.
I also loved how Jules and Max met. It was very unconventional but it really showed what a great guy Max was. Jules is also amazing! She is strong, independent, loyal and protective. She is taking care of her two nephews and a niece and working two jobs. It was beautiful to see how Max lifted her up in times of need. He was such a great support and helped as much as he could. Max is one hell of a catch, and I’m kind of jealous of Jules that she managed to take him off the market.
This was a great sports romance with amazing characters, I also enjoyed touching base with the characters from the previous books. But I especially enjoyed the epilogue where we get to see how Jules and Max are doing now, it really brought a smile to my face. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
i really liked Max, the man was sexy, “you get my jeans open,” he growls at me, “I’m not going to be able to stop. I’m not a saint, Jules.” I loved the times Jules had to placate Max, “I slide my hand back down and pat Max on the chest. “Honey . . . while you are strong and manly in many ways, and while I get a little horny when you come riding to my rescue, I think in this instance it’s best not to stir the hornet’s nest, okay?” I loved this book, Max was such a great guy.
Max and Jules stole my heart. This has to be my favorite from Sawyer in this series so far!
Jules has been dealt a tough hand after her sister got sick and lost her battle with cancer. So Jules does the responsible thing and takes in her niece and two nephews. As Jules is working her second job, Max comes in and they cross paths.
Max is the new goalie for the Cold Fury and he is just wanting to focus on hockey and maybe a no-no snack or two. Jules may be the best distraction from hockey that he could find.
Sawyer really gives a authentic feel to what dating and hockey life would be like. Max stole my heart. Watching him grow and learn that normal isn’t always the same for everyone was just what I was needing.
Max…. so dreamy, hot and SWEET!! Sometimes you need a book just like this one… a hot, alpha hockey player that is a GOOD guy. Jules is such a strong heroine and is struggling with her new life change. Max is a true fairytale prince. Loved this addition to the Cold Fury hockey series. Highly recommended.
