Can the big bad biker really protect me and my daughter?
On the run with my baby daughter, I never expected to end up surrounded by massive bikers. I’ve seen the violence that gangs can do, and I’m not sure a motorcycle club is any different. But Maverick might be able to change my mind about Hell’s Ankhor. When I show up on his doorstep with a busted car and a baby in my arms, he doesn’t … a baby in my arms, he doesn’t hesitate to take us in. And from the moment I see him, I know I want more.
It’s crazy to even think it. My violent ex is coming for me, and I can’t put anyone else in danger. But even more important is protecting baby Grace. And Maverick and his club are just the men to help. I think I’ve finally found my match in this gigantic biker’s arms. Can I trust that this time the story will end in a happily ever after? Or will my past crash into our lives and ruin the family we could have together?
Maverick is book four in the Hell’s Ankhor m/m MC series. Read for a slow burn that will ignite the flame within Maverick showing just how far he will go to keep Jonah and his daughter safe.

This was one of my favorites from the entire series!! Mav and Jonah were great characters and had fantastic chemistry. Jonah was a wonderful dad and I loved how he was continually put Grace first and protected her even when he was scared. I think including kids in romance can be difficult because they often take up too much of the story or they’re completely disregarded unless necessary for the plot. This book was super well written and didn’t have any of those problems! I loved Grace! I loved that Mav slipped into the role of dad so wholeheartedly. Great book!! I would recommend it!
3.5 stars. This book is much quieter than previous books in the series. While it starts with a tense moment, after that it’s largely just a story of two men figuring each other out, one opening his doors and heart and patiently waiting while the other figures out how to conquer his past and fears of the future. This is a very sweet and endearing story (though don’t worry Hell’s Ankhor still gets a chance to show their protective side).
Five stars for Maverick, Jonah & baby Grace!!
Even though I have read three of the Hell’s Ankhor books we never really got too much information about Maverick other than the fact that he was good with engines and he was a long-standing member of the club. With this book we really get to see the softer side of the club with Maverick, now don’t get me wrong as with any member Hell’s Ankhor if someone is pushed far enough, they are going to be one hell of a badass but for the most part Maverick was a big teddy bear. A guy who wants to settle down finally and have what some of the other guys in the club have found. He never thought he would get his happily ever after until one stormy night a man with a baby knocks on his garage door in desperate need of help but Maverick senses that help isn’t the only thing Jonah and baby Grace need.
Did he just jump out of a frying pan into a roaring forest fire.

Okay so he might not have thought this all out but he didn’t have much choice the rain was coming down in buckets and he was bone weary tired.
One of the dash-lights came on and stayed but with the weather he wasn’t stopping not if he could help it.
Jonah couldn’t help but keep looking back he’d expected maybe another set of lights chasing him down
His dad had been it for most of his life and he truly did the best he could with the little they’d had.
Jonah was use to hard world and he worked even harder. The kids in school had been cruel and the beaten he got from them were ugly.
But nothing prepared him for the pain he’d felt now Jonah had thought everything was perfect until it wasn’t his boyfriend went from being caring to an overbearing jerk.
Now he was out if options he had no choice when he saw a light.
The last thing he’d expected in rain storm like this was for someone to knock so Maverick opened the door with a gun.
Then there was a sound and the man in front asked if they could come in.
He’d called the others for help not for them to come rip-roaring guns blazing trying to take over crap.
Did he just jump out of a frying pan into a roaring forest fire.
After all he tended to make questionable choosing like him, his father had just died and he’d been so good to Jonah.
He needed to seriously consider the offer he didn’t have much in the cash department so yeah it would work for awhile.
Maverick wasn’t sure which one hooked him first the gorgeous guy or the sweet little girl.
And now they were mine and I’ll do
anything to keep them safe no matter what it takes.

These books are so freaking good!
Aiden Bates and Ali Lyda are simply sublime as a writing team when it comes to a ‘family’ series and frankly I can’t get enough of them. I love that there’s a message about an issue be it domestic abuse, substance abuse, alcohol abuse, hate crime; it’s there in the text saying it’s not ok and it should be dealt with and there’s always someone to support you.
As I’ve said in previous reviews (I’ve read a lot of these books!) AB and AL have created a motor cycle club who have expanded to find their own personalities, people and lives outside the club and along the way they have brought together a library of hot, sexy, deeply tortured souls who want to love and be loved and loved they definitely are! This is definitely aimed at adult readers with adult content! Scenes between the sheets, against the walls, in the kitchen, or wherever are hot and sexy and between men! If you don’t like that don’t read these books!!!
Beautiful lonely Maverick joined the club as an adult without the childhood traumas and issues of some of the other members but still wants someone to love and protect. When he’s interrupted by late night visitors, Jonah and Grace, who never seems to get older than 7 months, arrive like a personal gift to answer his prayers. Jonah has his own issues that make him wary of the gentle giant, not that Grace is she falls in love with Mav immediately. Jonah brings his own trouble to the club which of course is swiftly dealt with but also brings positives with him too.
As always this is a beautifully written book, full of emotion, angst and love; I’m totally recommending it to you xx

Loved It
Maverick and Jonah make for an incredible couple. Not only are they two wonderful characters, but their chemistry is palpable. I rooted for them the whole time and loved their journey.
Fabulous drama, action, sweetness, and heat make this MC romance, with the wonderful single-dad trope, a great read.
Maverick is the fourth book in the Hells Ankhor series by authors Aiden Bates and Ali Lyda. This story is told in dual pov. I love that pov for this series. Works great getting inside both character’s heads. Maverick’s story I have been looking forward too. I am so happy to have been able to read his story. This story is part of a series and should be read in order to completely enjoy to the fullest.
Jonah has a little baby girl. They have been on the run for three months. Five years ago he thought he met the man of his dreams. Only the dream turned into a nightmare. Everything about Jonah had ticked off his former partner. From his looks to him liking to wear gloss and eyeliner. He has finally escaped and he is never going back.
Maverick: rough around the edges. Tough as they come, but also as protective as they come. He is loyal and gives his all.
I loved these two together. They are as different as they could be but somehow they work. I loved seeing the softer side of the Hells Ankhors group. I think Jonah is a perfect fit and so is little Gracie.
Five Shooting Stars
I’m reviewing the audio edition. This is my favorite in the series so far. Maverick is such a lovable character and who better should he be in a relationship with than Jonah. It doesn’t hurt that Jonah has a daughter Grace who is adorable. This is a mc book and has that feel to the story but it also has a softer side. I liked the way the author explains the characters situations, very through and easy to picture. I think the flow of this story is great. I appreciate Thomas Hart’s narration. He brought the characters and story to life. I received a free copy from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my voluntary review.
This series just keeps getting better with each book. Jonah and his baby Grace show up on Maverick’s doorstep needing help. Jonah ends up finding way more than he bargained for. I really loved how Grace was interwoven in the story. Loved it!!! Highly Recommend the entire series!!!
I absolutely loved Maverick this was a great installment in the series. The characters had some steamy chemistry and a attraction that kept my interest I wanted a very happy ending for them. Great storytelling
Maverick was not expecting someone to knock on his door late one night. And he definitely wasn’t expecting a beautiful man with pain in his eyes to be cuddling a baby under his rain jacket while standing on his doorstep. His protective instincts roused immediately, though, and Jonah and baby Gracie burrowed their way into his heart right then and there.
Those protective instincts mean Maverick and his club will protect them, and that’s everything to Jonah. But what about when the threat is resolved? Does it mean Jonah and Gracie pack up and leave the man and the family they’ve come to love? Does Maverick feel the same way about him that Jonah does about Maverick?
I loved this installment of the MC and the men who populate it. Jonah and Maverick are a pair of opposites who mesh together seamlessly. The big bad bald biker who looks scary but is a gentle lamb with his elegant Jazz and his baby Gracie. Folding them into his heart and his MC family was great reading and just makes me love this series even more.
This book focuses on the two main characters more than the motorcycle club itself, despite one MC being a club member. We do see them, though.
This story is about Maverick, Jonah, and baby Grace. Jonah is on the run from an abusive ex fiancé. Despite being beaten himself, it takes the threat to harm Grace to get him to leave. His car breaks down, and he takes it to Maverick’s shop to get it fixed. Maverick tajes them in, suspecting that Jonah is needing help. By his reactions and behavior, Maverick can tell Jonah has been hurt by someone.
This is a slow burn, but given the circumstances, it’s understandable. The two men start out as friends, but are drawn to each other. Eventually they give in. Maverick just hopes he is able to keep them safe. Most of the action was towards the end.
Despite not being centered on the club, itself, I enjoyed the storyline. Auden Bates & Ali Lyda make a great team. I’ve enjoyed everything they’ve put out, that I’ve read. I’m looking forward to more!

Jonah is tired of running. He is scared and exhausted. But he can’t stop because he has to think of his daughter, Grace. Unfortunately his car decided to give up upon entering Elkin Lake. It’s a good thing it died in an automobile repair shop.
Maverick has been lucky to head up the shop for Hell’s Ankhor, his motorcycle club. He didn’t expect a midnight visitor who was gorgeous, with a baby in his arms knocking on his door.
The wariness that Jonah feels after having experienced a destructive relationship that drove him and his daughter to run is wearing him down badly. Meeting a biker and his whole club might push him to the edge. But he is finding out that it can be a blessing too. He never thought that meeting Maverick would allow him to see how it is to be cared for, protected and become a member of a family!
Two different men who desires to have a family of their own, to fall in love with someone and start a life with them. Maverick deserves his love story and so does Jonah. Sweet and full of love, family and acceptance. I love it!
I really liked Maverick. It was such a sweet, very fast-paced romance. I like their meet-cute. I loved that the other members of Hell’s Ankhor were very much a part of the story. I liked Jonah and Maverick’s chemistry together. There wasn’t a lot of unnecessary angst and miscommunication. It was hot and sexy and I loved that Grace was a part of the story. I recommend this story for sure.
Jonah has been abused by someone who was supposed to love him. He escapes with his baby daughter; His car breaks down and he ends up at Mavericks business late one rainy night. Maverick is lonely and easily falls in love with Jonah and his daughter. But trouble is coming for Jonah and it will be up to Maverick and all the Hell’s Ankhors to help. Loved this series, these guys all big teddy bears!

For the love of Grace
I love Hell’s Ankhor. They are kind, good hearted, and full of love. If I’m ever in trouble, they’d be the ones I’d want by my side. Maverick and Jonah are like PB&J; I can’t picture one without the other, and Grace of course. She’s the one who won all our hearts. I am so glad that fate stepped in and pushed them together. Maverick restores Jonah’s faith in people and Jonah gives Maverick his heart’s desire. Looking forward to Tex’s story, seeing everyone again and finding another reason to add to my long list of why I love this series.
Sometimes, you never know where the need for love and protection will guide you.
Jonah – on the run from his very dangerous and well established ex named Dylan. Came along at the right time and swept him off his feet, only to make his life a nightmare, piece by painful piece. The light of his life in the midst, his baby daughter, Grace.
Maverick – member of Hell’s Ankhor, and all around sweetheart. He was strong, protective, intelligent but personally unfulfilled. Longing for a family of his own. Along comes Grace and Jonah, trying to escape a past while running head first into what became a blissful future.
Jonah had many reasons not to trust anyone but when his car breaks down in a terrible rainstorm, the only beacon of hope was a bike shop. Fearful, exhausted but not having a choice, he grabbed Grace and knocked…Maverick answered
Add a crying baby, scared father, guns, Ankhor members answering an SOS with more guns, the need to protect, comfort, love…maybe?
With Jonah always having one foot out the door, and Maverick doing all he can to keep both feet firmly planted on the floor as his anchor in a tumultuous storm, can these two actually make it or will the overwhelming fight-or-flight take over?
What began as a midnight read ended up as an all-nighter. I could not put it down. Loved every single page turning moment.
Bates and Lyda did not disappoint in what I’ve discovered was book four in the series. So disappointed I did not know this sooner. Now I am buzzing with excitement to read the others.

I absolutely love this MC series, the men in Hell’s Anchor are hard but with an underlying kindness that came from the founders. Maverick and Jonah and Grace stole my heart in this book. I was absolutely sucked in at the end of Rebel when this rain-drowned man and baby showed up at the garage, I couldn’t wait for their backstory and the happily ever after I knew this writing duo would give them. This was a fantastic addition and now we move onto Tex.
I fell back into Elkin Lake immediately with these characters. I laughed, cried and was on the edge of my seat throughout. I could sympathize with Jonah and fell a little in love with Grace. Maverick was a wonderful character that really came into his own. I cannot wait to see where the next book will take us and exactly with who.
