Well worth reading!
Ronan Macmillan had battled with the demon Zuto who cut off his hand. He still felt like he could move his fingers and he desperately wanted that hand back! Also because of that same demon’s curse, the crew turned into vampires during every full moon.
Now Zuto needs a mermaid’s blood and dangles an offer to Ronan that he will restore his hand, let him be a warrior again, if he can capture a mermaid and turn her over to him. Unfortunately, in his desperation to have his hand back, he doesn’t hesitate to accept the offer.
But Fate intervenes and Angelica and Ronan turn out to be fated mates, despite her own hatred of pirates who took everything from her. Now they must fight their desire for each other while holding back the wickedness and evil trying to take them down to destruction!
In this author’s typical style, she grabs the reader’s attention from the very first page and runs with it through a fantastic, action-packed story line that doesn’t let you down! Vampires, mermaids, demons – what more can you ask for in such a suspenseful book? These stories keep getting better and better! Grab your copy and latch onto a wild ride into adventure with characters you will absolutely love!
This is what happens when you mix a handsome vampire and a beautiful mermaid together…mystery, mayhem and fireworks! Angelica and Ronan turn out to be mated and unable to resist each other even though evil is trying to control and take them at every turn! It’s definitely a suspenseful book that kept me intrigued from beginning to the end! I loved and recommend anyone to read this book. It’s a fantastic series but you really should read it in order to better understand all that’s going on with the good and evil characters.

Mate of the Vampire by M. L. Guida is the fifth book in the Blood Brotherhood series. In this book, Ronan a vampire pirate aboard the ship the Soaring Phoenix has been cursed by the demon Zuto to do his bidding. Zuto demands that Ronan capture and bring him a mermaid. Captain Kane and the others aboard the Soaring Phoenix wants to find out why Zuto wants a mermaid. They capture a mermaid named Angelica and she agrees to try and help them if they promise to set her free. This is the beginning of the relationship between Angelica and Ronan. This stand alone book features its own individual romance within this story while continuing the overall story arc of the series. I love that this book has so many different types of paranormals characters involved with the story. This is one of my all time favorite paranormal romances. Mate of the Vampire is a spicy and enchanting paranormal pirate romance.

First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
Holy shiznet!!! This story was gr8. My heart broke for Ronan losing his hand. To be a pirate and lose use of his sword hand is devastating. He felt like less of a man. Plus he was angry because he lost Mariah to William. He ten meets Angelica, a mermaid. He fights his growing attraction, but he’s lost. There’s so much more going on. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
Most stories show the Vampire as a powerful creature that matches Superman. Yet, ML Guida introduced a new concept…a crippled vampire. How would he feel, how would he deal? Read and see what could be.

Could use better editing. Enough continuity issues and vague issues to make it difficult to follow. The story was intermediate, unique, but not terribly gripping. I’d get into it, then get pulled out easily. The main characters were both a bit flawed, doing foolish things, & generally too stubborn. The line between ‘strong’ and ‘b!atch’ was NOT balanced. It wasn’t bad, just can’t bring myself to give it 4 stars.
The chemistry between the main characters is out of this freaking world!
I felt that the author had the ability to convey true depth to the personalities of the characters bringing life and likability to every person.
The writing draws you in and keeps you interested until the end.
I received a copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
Ronnan was my tragic victim but really a hero in the end kind of character that I was wanting to get the feels for and I was able to do that very fast in this story. I loved the old folklore about mermaids and their siren songs they sing to trap men. I thought it was really cool that only Ronnan was able to see her at first. I am so loving this series.
This was a great story. It was well written and fast paced. The chemistry between the characters was sizzling hot. This book has everything you need to keep you turning pages hot sexy men, steamy scenes and some conflict thrown in. I cannot wait for what this author writes next.

Curses And Competing Interests Propel This Complex Plot-Driven Story. Can Be Read As A Stand-Alone.
Vampires, Mermaids, Selkies, Demons, Witches, And Dragon Shifters Together In A Spell-Filled Pirate Adventure!
Ronan Macmillan, in his mid-thirties, is a warrior and a pirate aboard the Soaring Phoenix. It is April, 1671, and Ronan’s world has been turned upside down. In a battle with the demon Zuto, he just lost his right hand and with it his sense of worth.
Zuto has spared Ronan’s life and offered the opportunity to restore his right hand on the condition that Ronan deliver a water elemental to him. Zuto needs her blood.
Zuto is a powerful and angry demon. Betrayed by Natasa, a woman he would have done anything for, Zuto now is bound to a deserted island until he appeases his god Maketabori who is punishing him for not bringing Hannah Knight to him.
For their failure to deliver Hannah to him, Zuto has placed the Soaring Phoenix crew under his spell. They turn into vampires every full moon; they must feed or the thirst will make them crazy.
Zuto will lift the curse if they hand Hannah over, but because they have refused, he settles on making them suffer. The crew hopes to find a cure for the curse by locating Lark, who was snatched away by a time spider.
Angelica, daughter of Eldric, King of the Mermaids, is daring and impulsive. Her mother was captured by pirates several years ago and never seen alive again. Since then, her father has been domineering and overprotective. He wants her to marry Ty, but she isn’t interested. She takes some quiet time by herself in the human world, a world she once wanted to be part of, and ends up caught in a trap by the crew of the Soaring Phoenix.
This story is book four of the Blood Brotherhood series. Although it makes the beginning rather tedious to follow, it is absolutely possible to read it as a stand-alone. The series continues after this book, and hints of what is to come are present, but the book ends at a somewhat decent HFN moment.
There are a few issues that may bother some readers. The book would benefit from just a little polishing to catch a few typos and improve wording occasionally.
Additionally, Mermaids aren’t known to be trustworthy, so Angelica is regarded with caution. It is not abundantly clear why later in the story nobody seems bothered by her anymore. Finally, it isn’t clear why Ronan has to be the one to take a soul at the end. There are many vampires that could be have been used in his place.
The story is written in the third person. The POV alternates between Ronan, Angelica, and Zuto, although it is primarily Ronan and Angelica’s love story.
This is a slow read with many moving parts and a large cast of supernatural characters. The plot is complex with multiple storylines. Various characters and groups of characters are under a curse. Many times the curses put them at odds with one another. The character development suffers in this plot-driven book. The characters feel detached in the beginning. By the end, though, an attachment is accomplished, and it is very satisfying to see Ronan and Angelica earn their HFN! I rate this book four stars.
