Spitfire Disgrace Matthieu Boudreaux has one wish: to age out of the Pedigree he despises, then destroy it. With one year left before he achieves the first step of his goal, Matthieu finally has some hope for an independent future… until a surly Amethyst dragon by the name of Geoffrey Drake and his entourage show up at Matthieu’s cloister and inform him he’s been selected to be part of an … ‘experiment.’
Geoffrey Drake, proud and stuffy legal counsel for the Amethyst clan, has been charged with ruining his own life. His mission? Deliver a potential mate to the son of the Amethyst clan’s most despised enemy—and the man he’s loved in secret for the last hundred years—Topaz dragon Ian Brand. Refusal is impossible. Dragons don’t consort with dragons, and should Geoffrey decline, he risks exposing them both.
Ian Brand, charming black sheep of the Topaz clan, is trapped between his forbidden love for an Amethyst dragon centuries his senior and his duty to his family. Chosen by his unhinged father to be the Topaz candidate for the mating experiment, Ian is faced with a terrible choice: run away with the man he loves and face the deadly consequences, or accept his fate with a broken heart.
But dragon magic, as Matthieu, Geoffrey, and Ian soon discover, works in mysterious ways. When an unforeseeable circumstance draws them all together and puts their futures at risk, they have no choice but to set their differences aside and work together to prove a new, startling truth…
What the dragon world knows about mates has been wrong all along, and it will be up to the three of them to prove it.
Mate is a 103,000 word steamy omegaverse mpreg-ish romance that will leave you in stitches. It contains an experiment gone awry, five eccentric peacocks, an unusually large number of whelps, an ancient Viking Daddy dragon, and science! For maximum enjoyment, Mate is best read following the events of Clutch and Bond.

In the most intense of the Forbidden series books, the readers are introduced to the most baffling conflict of all! We have Amethyst dragon Geoffrey Drake paired with another dragon and from an enemy clan! Ian Brand, black sheep dragon of the Topaz clan is selected by his father to participate in the mating experiment developed by medical Dr. Everard Drake and his partner herpetology Ph.D. Harrison Lessardi. Being centuries older hasn’t stopped Geoffrey from craving the special sexual dominance demonstrated by Ian. In the performance of his duties as the Amethyst clan’s legal counsel, he is required to deliver Disgrace Matthieu Boudreaux to Ian Brand–the man he loves and it’s tearing him apart.
Matthieu isn’t exactly thrilled to be selected for the mating experiment as he was expecting to age out of the Pedigree and go on with his life. But he winds up in the middle of the relationship between Ian and Geoffrey who are desperate to remain together. They band together to find answers and luck upon an ancient Viking Daddy dragon who teaches them a wealth of information about dragon mating Drs. Drake and Lessardi haven’t yet discovered. When all is said and done, the three men wind up with more than they bargained for and better than they could have dreamed.
The level of complexity with potential mating options introduced in this book of the series makes it possible for the dragon clans to experience multiple matings that insure their future proliferation. There is the side effect of limiting the enmity that can exist between the clans when dragonkind is truly stronger banding together than functioning individually. The world-building continues to expand gloriously and there’s the definite character development of all characters both within the narrative and throughout the entire series. All elements within the current book add to the overall series’ cohesion.

I really enjoyed this book. It was definitely my favourite of the series. I loved the connection between Geoffrey and Ian that was over a century in the making and I loved the addition of Matthieu as he was the bridge between them. He couldn’t bond to only one of them as the other would be broken. This story was definitely an emotional roller coaster, you could feel their pain especially when Geoffrey was dropping Matthieu off with Ian. It was cool seeing Matthieu come into his own and stand up for himself and shows the Council that they’ve been wrong all these years about Disgraces. I loved the peacocks and their distinctive personalities which is probably not true at all but this is a work of fiction and added a nice element to the story, the boys were raised by Ian and Geoffrey’s since they were a clutch, It gave them a family when biology couldn’t work for two alphas. I loved how the Drakes all come together in this book when Ian, Geoffrey, Matthieu and their clutch were in danger as it’s against draconian society for two alpha’s let alone Topaz and Amethyst who are enemies to be together and then Matthieu was sent to Ian to bond with but he’s bonded to both of them and their whelps are a mixture of both. It could be seen as an act of war. I loved how we finally got to see a softer side of Grimbold as he’s been in the background in the previous books and doesn’t seem very fatherly and always seemed disappointed the boys but that could be due to the time period the boys were a clutch and how old they are now. He was very reflective after it came out that Disgraces have been dragons the whole time and dragons mates but they treated them like complete shit as per draconian society. I’m looking forward to reading the spin-off series as I’d like to get to know Grimbold and his other sons since they’ve pretty much only been mentioned in these books but haven’t been introduced yet. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and authors to everyone.
Five stars strong!!
Can this series get any better? YES, IT CAN!!
Geoffrey (Amethyst head counsel) and Ian (Topaz head counsel) have been hiding their relationship for many a century due to the tabū of mixing Amethyst with Topaz? Egads! But alpha bonding with alpha even more scandalous! For shame! Then add a Disgraced omega on top of it, and you now have a problem.
Harry’s experiment finally come to fruition. Ian is paired with an omega he never wanted, but in an effort to not tear apart these two bonded alphas, Mathieu suggests a threesome, only to accidentally become mate-bonded with Geoffrey. Now you have a mess on your hands. When the eggs are laid, their parentage will then be revealed to be Amethyst… or maybe Topaz? Or maybe even both? Hybrids? But don’t celebrate just yet. The Dragon Counsel could just as easily order the destruction of the eggs long before they hatch, and that would tear everyone involved apart.
What to do… What to do…
I appreciate the fact that Piper and Kelly didn’t resort to overused plot complications or did the same old same old. That would have disappointed me something fierce! I loved the additional world-building though I know there has to be more trouble on the horizon. Dragons don’t change their spots that easily, and they are likely to make everything a physical bout ending up into a duel to the death. Go figure.
I appreciate the continued interaction with characters from past books. This insistence on continuity only brings richness to the book. Nothing like a family reunion of dragons, whelps, and eggs to make a party a party. Even the biology is sound though I would like to spend a little more time analyzing the genetics. That’s what is really needed to be done before anything can progress with the Dragon Counsel. You gotta know your genetic capabilities especially since dragon magic is at stake.
I can’t wait to read the next in the series. I hope it’s about one of Everard’s and Geoffrey’s brothers!!
Mate is the third book in the Forbidden Desires series, a paranormal romance series with A/B/O dynamics and dragon shifters. This book could technically be read by itself but I highly suggest reading the first two books in the series for maximum enjoyment.
This installment of the series brings a lot more worldbuilding and dragon history. It is fascinating how the Pedigree works and the way the dragon society has been functioning for hundreds of years. The romance between Matthieu, Geoffrey, and Ian was full of obstacles, but their happy ever after ending was well earned and an exciting journey to go on as a reader.
The audiobook was narrated by Michael Ferraiuolo who did a great job, especially since he had so many characters to voice. I never once got lost in the story due to how well Michael voiced each character. The audiobook production was well done and made for a really wonderful listening experience.
4.5 stars
I have totally become addicted to this series. Geoffrey, Ian, and Mathieu’s story is so full of layers to their bonds and relationships, but also to their society as a whole. There is humor, heat, emotion, and good messages about acceptance, family, and true love. I loved how their shared bonds were even richer and more complex. And as the series continues I enjoy seeing these characters challenge the old ways and use science and new events to try to change the shape of the future for all of their kind. They take on false perceptions, discrimination, and convoluted history and set out to prove them wrong. I just cannot get enough of these quirky characters and seeing even the most stoic at their most vulnerable but also finding strength with their mates.

Oh, my Gods! Perfection!
Sweet, sneaky, snarky and sexy! This series has it all and this book is just as good as its predecessors! I’m so glad we got Geoffrey and Ian’s story!! Throw in Matthieu and you have the perfect power trio!
I have enjoyed this how series and this book is the perfect wrap up, for now. This story expands upon books 1 and 2 with reoccurring characters and storylines as we explore Geoffery, Ian and Matthieu’s connection and mate bond.
I really liked the introduction of Matthieu and thought he was the perfect addition to the Drake family. He bridged the gap between Ian and Geoffery and paved the way for them to change Dragon History. As always I just love Harry and his excitement and his explanations of Mate bonds and connections, while always accurate, will also make you laugh. Add in Ev and the rest of the family and this story is a great end to the trilogy.
I found the connection between Ian, Matthieu and Geoffery sweet, hot, steamy and wonderful. I loved the care and love between Ian and Geoff before Matthieu and could feel their connection grow and expand as Matthieu opened their hearts to more and made their dreams of their own clutch a reality. I loved Matthieu’s emboldened speak and loved the remaking of Dragon kind and what they know.
I really love this world that’s been created and hope Piper and Virginia continue on with more stories and Dragon shenanigans! I love this Trilogy and Mate is just as perfect and the others! Highly recommended series!!!!
I also have to say Michael Ferraiuolo is beyond fantastic throughout this whole series but I feel he truly shines in this book as there are so many characters, voices, accepts and dialects and he has seamlessly worked his magic on all of them and each character, past and present, has their own unique voice! Absolutely amazing narration and I can’t recommend his work enough after the talent he has shown with this series!!!

Another enjoyable addition to the series. This is the third book in the series. Although this is a new relationship, I think you need to read this series in order to have a full understanding of what is going on. There is a lot of world building throughout the series that is important to the storyline. This is a throuple book with 3 MCs. In this case 2 alphas and an omega. I’m typically not a big fan of mmm books but the dynamics to this one made it very interesting and kept me engaged. I’m hoping the authors will continue with some books within this fabulous world they have built.
If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. I have loved each book in this series but this is my absolute favorite. It definitely scores scorching hot points but it also provides the depth I’ve come to see from these authors.
The character development goes beyond just the main characters, though all three were supremely developed. I could imagine them perfectly because the authors made them real. The secondary characters include ones we’ve seen before and that sometimes is an issue in other series. These authors however ensured that the previous personalities and characteristics remained consistent and even went a step further and provided more depth. The world building was vivid and each time I read a book in this series it immerses me even more in the story.
Let me just say this story is beyond hot. MMM? With all those steamy scenes? Yes, please! Not only that but authors really created a meaningful story. It had heart to it that left a lasting impression. I know this is supposed to be the last of the series but I’m not ready to let go of these characters or world yet. I have to give a direct plea to the authors on this one, because please I need more!
5 stars for a sizzling page turning read!
An unlikely bond between two alpha dragons has lasted for a century and if they don’t fight for their future, the mandates of an archaic council could destroy everything they love. When Geoffrey Drake’s secret alpha mate Ian is given an omega to breed in the name of an experiment his heart is crushed. Hiding his ache behind a haughty, cynical mask, he escorts Disgrace Matthieu Boudreaux to his lover’s home where he must confirm their breeding. Ian is determined to run from their situation, but it’s Matthieu’s unconventional solution that might give each of them everything they could have dreamed. The plan doesn’t start they way they hope and it puts their lives in jeopardy. Magic and a helpful, yet lusty, outcast family might give them a chance to grasp their fate and change the future of dragons and their mates for generations to come.
Ian was brash, young, reactionary, and yet the guiding hand for this group. I liked his boldness and love for Geoffrey that never waned. Despite the difficult circumstance, he was humble enough to listen to reason and heart when he would have given up. The surprise was really Matthieu. He was not only the glue that kept them all together, but his immense inner strength was exactly what both alphas needed to fight for them.
But it was Geoffrey who made me ache and was my favorite. I usually have a hard time with the sad characters who don’t seem to know how to be happy in their own right, but there was something about Geoffrey that caught my attention and kept it jealously. At nearly every moment of his perspective I was choked up, my eyes welling with tears, swallowing past the lump in my throat, and my chest constricting. I literally ached for this man. His moments of despair moved me beyond what I thought possible and his moments of passion, happiness, and peace were some of the most beautiful things I could ever feel.
I don’t typically like menage relationships and pretty much choose not to read them on that basis alone, but I’m so addicted to this series that I jumped in with both feet despite my normal hesitations. I’m so glad I did. There’s so much to love about this book and the dynamic Matthieu, Ian, and Geoffrey struggle through to find their roles and their path together. Introducing the exiled Opal dragon and his immense brood was quite interesting and there were so many characters that I was a bit numb by the end of their “introductions”. He actually bothered me immensely and I couldn’t grow to like him, though his role has many implications for dragons going forward. Aside from his convivial creeper-ness, the rest of the story vacillated between passion, angst, discovery, and acceptance. The way each person found their strength and their place together was beautiful and I’m glad to have read this book. I seriously cannot wait for more!
Wow! The Forbidden Mates series is one of the best series that I’ve had the pleasure to read. Each book has generally been better than the last and this last in the current arc is definitely the best.
I loved seeing the other couples, I loved the complexity of the story and I especially loved the attention to detail with all characters, including Steve, the lizard (his daily attire, his ‘expressions’, lol). This is truly a very good book.
This book had everything I love. There was a great romance – actually more than one. Matthieu , Geoffrey, and Ian fell in love in pairs and as a triad. The steamy scenes were incredibly well written. There were moments that made me laugh out loud. There were also times I just wanted to hug one or more of the characters and cry along with them.
The Drake brothers and their mates are full of love and insanity. I was hooked from the first book. And Harrison, who has appeared in each book and found his HEA in book two, is one of my favorite characters of all time – along with his well dressed iguana Steve. This series is just wonderful, and I know that I will reread it many times. I can’t recommend it enough. Please read this lovely magical funny romantic series. None of the characters are perfect, but they are each perfectly matched. I absolutely love everything about these dragon alphas and omegas! I am looking forward to other stories (or spin-offs) in this world, and I hope to see these characters again.
Piper Scott and Virginia Kelly do not disappoint in this third installment of the Forbidden Desires series. I was at first surprised that this story not only is about an alpha and omega pairing, but an alpha-alpha- omega relationship. Without giving too much away, this story picks up right where the second book ended. Putting the ideas from that story into motion in this one. I absolutely loved seeing familiar faces that appeared, and the descriptions of the mate bonds, egg bonds, and other family ties were well written. I highly recommend this book only if you’ve read the first two! I am highly impressed with this story and the two authors who collaborated on it together.
