A Washington Post and Amazon Charts bestseller.“A delightful, light-as-air romance that successfully straddles the line between sweet and smart without ever being silly…The novel is simply captivating from beginning to end.” —Associated PressMarnie MacGraw wants an ordinary life—a husband, kids, and a minivan in the suburbs. Now that she’s marrying the man of her dreams, she’s sure this is the … her dreams, she’s sure this is the life she’ll get. Then Marnie meets Blix Holliday, her fiancé’s irascible matchmaking great-aunt who’s dying, and everything changes—just as Blix told her it would.
When her marriage ends after two miserable weeks, Marnie is understandably shocked. She’s even more astonished to find that she’s inherited Blix’s Brooklyn brownstone along with all of Blix’s unfinished “projects”: the heartbroken, oddball friends and neighbors running from happiness. Marnie doesn’t believe she’s anything special, but Blix somehow knew she was the perfect person to follow in her matchmaker footsteps.
And Blix was also right about some things Marnie must learn the hard way: love is hard to recognize, and the ones who push love away often are the ones who need it most.

This is a sweet little jewel of a book. I adored every magical bit of it.
Different but so good.
This book was more enjoyable than I expected. I couldn’t put it down !
An absolutely wonderful book! Full of crazy characters and a truly fun read!
A pleasant enough read but very predictable.
I loved this book! Very easy read, fun, and different. I didn’t want it to end.
Predictable story but enjoyable. Good summer read
Liked it so much that I immediately bought another book by the same author.
This story really touched my heart. I found myself crying–in a good way–by about halfway through the book. It’s funny but deeply emotional. The tiny touch of magic absolutely worked and gave the book a lovely extra dimension; however, you don’t have to believe in magic to love the book. The heroine has a wonderful voice, as does Blix, the eccentric aunt. I couldn’t put this one down until I had turned the last page. A total delight from start to finish!
Wonderful book – couldn’t put it down.
Just a really good read. Great characters and good writing.

I appreciate the author’s approach to share matchmaking secrets between strangers Blix and Marnie. I just felt like the story moved too slowly, perhaps due to having too many characters who were interwoven with Marnie.
Just great writing. Really enjoyed this author’s writing style!
Luv luved this book! Captivating and the characters stayed with me long after I finished the book! Highly recommend!
