“Fans of laugh-out-loud romantic suspense will enjoy this author as she joins the ranks of Janet Evanovich, Katie MacAllister, and Jennifer Crusie.”—Booklist, on An Affair to Dismember“Elise Sax will win your heart.”—New York Times bestselling author Jill ShalvisEnjoy the first two books in the Matchmaker Mysteries Series for the price of one!An Affair to Dismember:Three months has been Gladie … Dismember:
Three months has been Gladie Burger’s limit when it comes to staying in one place. That’s why Gladie is more than a little skeptical when her Grandma Zelda—who is more than a little psychic– recruits her into the family’s matchmaking business in the quaint small town of Cannes, California. What’s more, Gladie is also highly unqualified, having a terrible track record with romance. Still, Zelda is convinced that her granddaughter has her clairvoyant “gift.” But when the going gets tough, Gladie wonders if this gift has a return policy.
When Zelda’s neighbor drops dead in his kitchen, Gladie is swept into his bizarre family’s drama. Despite warnings from the (distractingly gorgeous) chief of police to steer clear of his investigation, Gladie is out to prove that her neighbor’s death was murder. It’s not too long before she’s in way over her head—with the hunky police chief, a dysfunctional family full of possible killers, and yet another mysterious and handsome man, whose attentions she’s unable to ignore. Gladie is clearly being pursued—either by true love or by a murderer. Who will catch her first?
Citizen Pain:
Lovably troublesome Gladie Burger runs into sizzling danger and a fiery love triangle in the second installment of Elise Sax’s hilarious and sexy Matchmaker Mysteries series.
Since joining the family matchmaking business run by her eccentric and psychic Grandma Zelda, Gladie is always looking for love. But when an unbearable toothache knocks her out of commission and into the dentist’s chair, she prays only for relief. No such luck. Emerging from an anesthetic haze, Gladie awakes to find that not only is her tooth still throbbing, but her dentist is dead—and the lead suspect in the murder, office receptionist Belinda, just so happens to be Gladie’s first real client. Now it’s up to Gladie to find Belinda a man and keep her from being locked up behind bars.
As if that weren’t enough distraction, two gorgeous men are vying for Gladie’s attention: Spencer, the playboy chief of police, and Holden, Gladie’s secretive, gorgeously muscled neighbor. Still, Gladie’s not complaining about having a helping hand or two when the case leads her to a dangerously bizarre cult. She may have met her match—and if she’s not careful, it could be her last.

i enjoyed this book and found it very entertaining. I recommend this book.
Needs a bit of editing. At least one spot has her talking to one person, and suddenly that person is someone else, so it can be confusing. Overall, though, the stories are good and interesting.
I literally laughed out loud when I read both books. They were very entertaining and I liked the murder mysteries, too!
Loved it!! Never guessed who-done-it until the end.
I just enjoyed it
These were light reading and I enjoyed them.
This series is good in small doses only because the main character is often bumbling and inept as she tries to learn the matchmaking business from her grandmother. If you want a mindless read that is borderline amusing, give these two a try.
The book is fun to read. I enjoy these books. They are crazy and funny.
Fun read! Looking forward to reading more of these novels.
These books had me laughing so much they were a delight to read
I read the first of this duo. This is just a light book but fun to read. Relaxing.
Very entertaining.
I had a real belly laugh with this book. She’s funny.
The characters really are funny and very entertaining. Grandma was especially good. Hope to get more of them. Small town life is great to take you away from stress and let you refresh.
Kept my interest through the whole series.
Love this author.
just absolutely fabulously super reads!! LOL but great story lines as well. the characters will knock your socks off.
I enjoyed these two books quite a bit. The characters are fun, the writing style is witty. I actually laughed (out loud) a few times. That said, Gladys faints too much (who faints these days?), the adventures become a bit far-fetched, and occasionally the author gets confused as to which hunky male she’s talking about (especially in the last few pages of the second book). My favorite part was Grandma Zelda’s matchmaking advice.
This series is a “hoot”. Laugh out loud in places. Very much in the style of Janet Evanovich and Jana DeLeon.
Love gladie or “pinkie” as the cops know her. She’s hot big girl with 2 guys after her and her frizzie hair matters not seems she’s the only one that sees faults in herself, thank goodness for grandma’s loving supper. You will love this2 stories but be warned I grueling hatred the ending, seems to me police chief should be the poster child for STDs/aids as much as he gets around. I really was rooting for her neighbor, but the writer screwed it up.
