I love this trope. Started out as best friend’s little sister, then best friend, enemies and finally lovers. Oh, and the fake relationship trope. 😉 Jasmine and Isaac sure had a lot to work out, but man did they work well when they decided to work together. This was a sweet story with all the feels. I laughed, cried, was angry, frustrated and incredibly happy. This was a good book.
This is the last book of a series, but also a standalone. It’s a clean romance with a lot of extremes. Everything that can go wrong does and the unrelenting boss, the bridezilla superstar, and the playboy fiancé are all heightened characters. If you find the fashion industry interesting then you’ll enjoy all the details that take you into this world. I felt that there weren’t enough feel-good moments between Jasmine and Isaac. Too much was spent on dealing with the stress of her job and his future prospects. The ending doesn’t quite play out how you would expect and I won’t say more to keep that a surprise.
Matched by Design is a wonderful, light romance. I love Ms. Armstrong’s books because they are clean and fun. Her characters are always realistic – they have their strengths and flaws. Jasmine’s is in a tight situation with bridezilla Skye’s ever changing wedding plans. Factor in fake fiance Isaac, a skirt chasing groom to be, wrong measurements for a dress and more. This wedding is a runaway train. I loved reading how things worked out. The epilogue wraps everything up nicely. Come escape to the Florida Keys in Matched By Design.
Jasmine is a fashion designer who wants her own design house, if she can just save up enough to quit her job at Dallaire Designs. Working on the wedding for a famous popstar could be a big step towards achieving that, especially with the time and half pay she’ll get working the week before the wedding. When the insecure popstar suddenly decides that no one working on the wedding can be single, Jasmine blurts out that she’s engaged!! She’s not even dating anyone, where’s she going to get a fake fiance in a few days?
Isaac’s best friend, and Jasmine’s brother, Quincy, recently died in a rock climbing accident. Isaac blames himself and has completely avoided all contact with Jasmine since the funeral. He’s a fourth-year surgical resident working every shift he can get since he switched from plastic surgery to general surgery. He’s trying to get a prestigious general surgery fellowship that Quincy was excited about. What’s he going to do when he finds out he’s Jasmine’s fake fiance?
Poor Jasmine, I can’t imagine working under the conditions she had to work with. A tempermental bridezilla topped off with a slightly jealous, passive-aggressive boss. No thanks. Jasmine was a super hard worker who went without enough sleep or food to get things accomplished. I wondered if or when she and Isaac would’ve worked through their issue (Quincy’s death) if they hadn’t had to pose as an engaged couple for a week? It made them spend time together, which Isaac had been avoiding. They had quite the rocky start as an engaged couple and at the beginning I wondered if they’d be able to pull it off.
I think my favorite part was when Jasmine had to work furiously to remake a bridesmaid dress (thank goodness it wasn’t her fault) and Isaac brought her a bag of snacks to make sure she ate, and stood up for Jasmine with her boss. How sweet! I was happy when Isaac finally figured out he couldn’t live Quincy’s life for him and finally let go of the guilt he’d been holding onto.
This is the last book in the No Match for Love series.
This was exactly the book I needed this week. I have enjoyed the entire series, but got a real kick out of Jasmine’s story. Not everyone can handle a tough boss, bridezilla, and fake a relationship to keep her job. Plus in the end you get a happily ever after. I can always count on Lindzee Armstrong for the perfect story to put a smile on my face.
Jasmine is working toward being a fashion designer. When the bride decides she wants one of Jasmine’s designs for her bridemaid’s dress, her boss makes life difficult for her. Then the bride decides she doesn’t want any single women coming to the wedding location since her husband-to-be has a wandering eye. Since Jasmine needs the money she will earn from this job, she invents a fake fiance.
Isaac was best friend’s with Jasmine’s brother. Over the past couple years, Jasmine and him spent a lot of time talking and were becoming closer. But after Jasmine’s brother dies, Isaac ghosts her. That is, until he runs into her at the coffee shop and gets introduced as Jasmine’s fiance.
There’s multiple complex relationships in this story and some humor along the way. Both Jasmine and Isaac learn more about themselves during their week together.
I was gifted a free copy of this book via L. Armstrong ARC Team and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
Matched by Design written by Lindzee Armstrong is a second chance romance that brings all the feels. Jasmine needs a fake fiancé and no other than Dr. Isaac Sloan will do. The storyline is captivating, has complex characters and a happy ever after. You’ll definitely be thoroughly engaged with this one.
Loved the story, engaging characters like Isaac, Jasmine, Amber, even Skye. And of course some not so amazing Drew, Melanie for starters. Past deaths n planning a big future wedding for celebrity’s, brings on all kinds of emotions in a wide range for everyone involved, all while trying to decide on what the future should look like and with who. Kara and Isaac have a long and painful story. Their lives have been intertwined since childhood, through her brother and his best friend, Quincy. After a horrible accident, the threesome is no more…until Kara needs a “fiancé!” This is my first book by the author and I enjoyed the humor mixed with drama. She creates great characters – grumpy boss, crazy music star, and whacky bridesmaids, to name a few.
This story was full of wedding dress designs as a pop star and quarterback plan their wedding together on a beach in Isla del Amor. There was a lot of drama between the pop star, her bridesmaids, the dress designers , and a sexy surgeon that made the story a page turner. You never knew what was going to happen next. I enjoyed the two main characters of Jasmine and Drew, who had each lost someone dear to them. Quincy was Jasmine’s brother and he was also Drew’s best friend It was so interesting to see if their friendship would be able to survive their loss or if they could pursue their feelings for each other. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
This was just a good, sweet book that kept me up most of the night because it was an easy read and I didn’t want to stop. It’s the perfect time to read something with good story line, no use of the “f” bomb and no sex.
The story is about a young designer, Jaszmine, who wants to keep her job for the time until she’s able to open her own place. It happens that a music performer, Skye, is a client who wants something one time and then changes it many times more. Skye is what you would call a bridezilla!. Besides working long hours at the design studio, she misses her brother Quincy and since his death has had no contact from his best friend, Isacc. They were a trio that unfortunately lost a great guy after a hiking accident. Part of that trio was Dr. Issac Sloan in his 4th year of residency. He was going through a lot as well since his best friend, Quincy, died and he couldn’t save him and he pushed Jasmine aside thinking it would be too difficult to be friends. As the story goes, Jazmine has the opportunity to do Skye’s wedding, which would be a great opportunity financially and for her career but Skye wants only engaged women so Jasmine states she is engaged. Not true. Working such long hours one the dresses, she has no idea how to come up with a fiance. One day walking out of the studio she literally bumps into Issac. So all fun begins with Jasmine and her career and Isaac to get over his demons and decide what he really wants to practice in medicine. Then the story goes on and it’s wonderful. It’s a story you know the ending but reading from the start is great and as an added bonus, Dr.Isaac Sloan sounds dreamy and a person you would want to spend time with!
A good clean romance about Isaac, resident doctor who couldn’t save his best friend after a cliff fall and plans to live out his best friend’s dream; and Jasmine, is best friend’s little sister, who is a fashion designer which has gotten close to Isaac before the death of her brother. Now he lives with the guilt and has ghosted Jasmine until they run into each other. Did she call him her fiancé?
I enjoyed this story as we see if Isaac will live his dream or someone else’s. Will he forfeit Jasmine’s love for it? I would highly recommend this book.
This series of books by Lindzee Armstrong are books that always give me the idea from the cover that there’s not going to be much to them, or that they will be “fluff”. Nothing could be further from the truth with Matched by Design. Ms. Armstrong takes us into the world and the pressures of the design industry without pulling any punches. Part of the plot involves death and survivor’s guilt, but there is certainly enough levity and romance included in this book to make it an enjoyable read. There are the characters of the boss lady and the bridezilla that you would gladly slap upside the head, but also characters that you really find yourself rooting for. Great balance in a very enjoyable book!
Jasmine and Isaacs book.
Jasmine is making the bridesmaids dresses for the IT wedding – Skye and Drew. QB and superstar singer getting married. The exposure alone could help her start her own design studio. If she can only survive Sky’s bridezilla ways, Genieve’s passive aggressive ways because the bride chose her design and the groom’s creeping ways.
On top of this stress Isaac, her best friend, has ghosted her since her brother’s death. How much more can a girl take?
When the bride decides no single females can come to the wedding because her groom is a car, Jasmine quickly says she’s engaged and Isaac is her fiance.
Isaac is still reeling from his mother’s death and his best friend’s death within months of each other. He has ghosted Jasmine because he couldn’t save her brother and he is a doctor!
When they accidentally bump into each other and everyone thinks he is her fiance the story begins.
As these two go to the wedding together they start to rebuild what they lost. She needs to forgive him for ghosting her. He needs to forgive himself.
The wedding is a funny backdrop. If something can go wrong it does.
A sweet romance.
Sweet, clean romance develops from a bit of deceit!
4.5stars
This story has a good plot and really likable lead characters. Their connection through Jasmine’s brother Quincy who was also Isaac’s best friend, crashes when Quincy dies before Isaac’s eyes. But Jasmine’s ambitions as a dress designer for a high profile bridezilla’s wedding party lead to some quick-thinking deceit and the two are reunited. Both have some major career issues to work out; I found that enhanced the romance side of the story.
There’s enough grief in the leads and variety in the supporting characters to keep their story compelling. This was a sweet story that I thoroughly enjoyed, right down to the bridezilla’s chaotic wedding day. And the epilogue was just the right touch: a brief, happy peek into the future.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review and the opinions expressed are my own.
I don’t know how Jasmine could do her job working so many hours for an ungrateful boss and demanding selfish clients. Skye and most of her wedding party were annoying with their attitudes and the changes she kept making to the dress designs. The only redeeming one was Amber. Jasmine and Isaac were forced into a fake relationship by Skye’ jealously over her cheating lecherous fiance. Drew was a self centered playboy in Match Me if You Can and I have no idea what Skye saw in him. Isaac kept beating himself up over not being able to save Jasmine’s brother and his best friend Quincy’s life. He decides to give up his dream and follow Quincy’s as a way to atone. Even though Jasmine and Isaac were friends for years their relationship during this trip had an instant love feel to it.
This was great in that this couple started as good friends but a tragedy pulled them apart. When Jasmine needs a fake fiance, Isaac is the first person she thinks of. But will he agree and can she forgive him for his silence when she needed him most? Jas has so much going on with a snarky boss, a bridezilla, getting dresses ready for the wedding and her deep feelings for Isaac. This is one adventure she did not need but in order to make it in the fashion world she must persevere and hope everything works out. I am voluntarily reviewing a complimentary copy.
Jasmine & Isaac’s story is very nice. The bride to be is a real pain, however, & unbelievable as a rich woman. I’m glad there is an HEA. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary review.
What a wonderful romance deftly crafted by Ms Armstrong! I could literally feel the tension while Jasmine was under a tight schedule to create and sew up her design for bridesmaids dresses. Losing sleep almost seemed the norm for her. Plus, it didn’t help that her boss was a difficult person to work for. Factor in the bridezilla named Skye who was a famous pop star and you have a recipe for a potential meltdown. However, Ms Lindzee being the talented writer that she is, manages to turn everything around and create a wonderful epilogue tying everything up in a nice little bow. That’s not to mention the wonderful HEA in this romance. Oh, did I not mention the guy in this tale? He was wonderful of course albeit the figurative knock upside the head to get him there. You have got to read this. You will love it.
Mismatched.
Jasmine is a 21 year old wannabe fashion designer.
She’s far too frivolous for Isaac, a fourth year resident.
Isaac is well developed and mature and grappling with the death of his BF during a rock climbing fall and subsequent lack of medical care in the field and his mother’s cancer.
I liked Isaac and his dilemmas but it felt so juxtaposed in comparison to the flighty Jasmine.
