Pebble Cove is home to more than just fishermen, Victorian houses, and coastal beauty. It also harbors long-running feuds and buried secrets. When a local man drops dead after drinking a matcha tea latte, Rosemary Woodmere suspects foul play. As a witness to the murder, she’s called in for questioning. At the station, she meets a new ghost and learns the town’s police force has a dark past when it … police force has a dark past when it comes to covering up murder. She might be off the hook, but can she let the case go when she fears the police might be repeating history?
To make things even more difficult, Rosemary’s life with ghosts is getting complicated. While she searches for the truth about how Asher died, Rosemary attempts to help a local spirit encountering her own difficulties with her death. And while a little ghostly help might give Rosemary a leg up in this case, will it be enough when she comes face-to-face with the real killer?
Readers, this is the second book in a new cozy mystery series by Eryn Scott. These books are all clean with no gore and no swearing. Starting from the beginning with this series will provide the best reading experience. The ghosts are the only paranormal aspect in the series. And there are definitely cats because … well, there has to be. 🙂

Rosemary’s teahouse has competition when her rival Jolene reopens her teahouse after recuperating from a broken leg. The grand reopening turns tragic when a customer dies after tasting his tea. Fingers are pointed in every direction, including Rosemary’s, and suspicion that the police may protect the real murderer leads the local amateur detective to investigate.
This is the 2nd book in the Pebble Cove Teahouse Mysteries. This series reminds me of the Gram’s Country Cooking School series by Paige Shelton. I enjoy the history behind the ghosts and the research Rosemary and her mother do to uncover the truth for Asher. For some reason I keep forgetting that this book takes place in the Pacific NorthWest and find myself thinking it is the coast of North Carolina. I think Rosemary is a very well-written character; she expresses relatable emotions and has a nicely developed background. The teahouse on the coast is easily imagined and makes me want to visit for a cup of my favorite blend. I already bought book three and I look forward to reading it. I recommend this book (series).
Wonderful feel good story watching Rosemary grow and mature and find her own way. Love all her interactions with the ghosts and how they help her find clues to solve the mysteries. Love that she is making friends with humans as well. Great friendships. Great mysteries. Can’t wait to read the next book.
I thought it was supposed to be a romance. Not. It is a Ghost story … ok, it is billed as a mystery. It is. But, to solve the mystery you have to figure out how to work with spirits that have limitations in where they can go and who have their own ongoing issues from their prior lives. I actually really enjoyed the whole concept and how it played out.
Love this series, and the investigation continues into Asher’s death. There is also lots of surprises in solving another murder which is quite involved.
I really enjoyed this book. Light reading and the characters were likeable. When I finished I was looking for more
Cute… not my normal type of book.
I started with book one and kept on reading. Excellent stories. Now waiting for the next in the series to be released.
Small seaside town and a tea shop owner who can see its ghostly residents provides the foundation for second book in a cozy mystery series. Entertaining summer read.
Couldn’t put it down.
I enjoyed it so much I got the rest of the series.
I’ve really enjoyed both books that I’ve read in this series. The lead character, Rosie, is inspirational. Lots of great surprises in this book.
Thoroughly enjoyed the character interactions. Makes seeing ghosts seem normal. Works as a standalone even though part of a series.
I really enjoyed reading the book
Rosie as she is fondly known in Pebble Cove get’s right into her instincts when tragedy struck right infront of her her in this beautiful town. Include the her best friend Asher and I was hooked, I could not put this book down!
Love how this story is progressing.
I love that the ghosts have their own story line that progresses through out these books. In this installment we get to know many of them better, and discover what is holding a few of them back from passing over.
That being said, I am concerned with Rosemary’s mental state. As she spends the majority of her people interacting time, talking to ghosts. If this isn’t addressed or keeps up throughout the entire series it’s going to make me really depressed for her as a person. She went from being under her mom’s supervision to now, and adult woman that only communicates with the dead. With the caveat that I am thankful for no insta-love type plot line happening. These two books are giving a great deal of insight into everyone that lives in Pebble Cove. I just want Rosemary to have some living friends!
The writing in this book is way more flowery than the first book, there are metaphors so often in this story, it starts to pull me out because I can’t stop laughing at how ridiculous they are. Not sure why they increased here, but hoping they decrease for book 3.
The mystery for this book was great, I kept rethinking who was really the guilty party, because I kept telling myself, ‘there was no way it would be that person’ for a few people. The end layout explains a lot about the towns history. I like that these books seems to be solving a cold case, with the current case. Gives more complexity to the town, and the hidden secrets that are berried there.
Rosemary isn’t great at everything she touches and I really appreciate that. Her struggles in running the teashop make her character relatable. I look forward to seeing how she grows as a business owner in the next installments.
4.5 Star review Matcha Do About Murder (Pebble Cove Tea house Mystery #2) by Eryn Scott
It was fun being back in Pebble Cove. This is the second book in the latest series from Eryn Scott and I could not wait to dive in to it. I love stories about small towns, add in mystery and a few ghosts and I knew I was in for an entertaining read with Matcha Do About Murder.
Rosemary Woodmere inheritance her Victorian tea house from her grandmother and is trying to get the business back up and running. Having successfully solved her grandmother’s murder with the help of Asher the coast, they are up for the challenge when another murder happens right n front of them.
The more she learns, the more danger she is in and Rosemary leans on the spirits to guide her. There were numerous twists and turns within the story and I found Rosemary easy to relate to and I liked her. I really enjoyed this cozy mystery and am looking forward to seeing where Ms. Scott takes the series.
Narrator Jennifer Jill Araya did a great job bringing this story to life and made this an entertaining listen.
I never thought I’d be so emotionally involved with ghosts! Following both Asher and Lois’s stories are a roller-coaster! I know Asher is NOT a deserter! I can’t wait to read the third book in this series!
Matcha Do About Murder is the second book in the series and just as enjoyable as the first book. First of all, I really loved the title. In this book a man dies after drinking a cup of matcha tea latte. When she goes to the police station for questioning, she learns they often cover up murders. She can’t let this happen again so she tries to solve the mystery herself. Again, the characters were very likable. There were many twists and turns and the story kept me interested all the time. We learn a bit more about Asher and meet some other ghosts. I also love how the author describes things, and it’s still fast-paced. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes to read cozy mysteries.
It was so nice to get the second book in the series! So I sat down to enjoy Rosemary,
settled in her Gram’s with her best friend Asher, a spirit, and trying to make a go of the tea shop.
It’s hot in Pebble Cove and few customers are coming in, who wants hot drinks in this weather? Rosemary decides to visit Jolene’s tea shop, her competition. And just her luck, she sees Murray sip his new wife’s matcha drink and drop dead. And Raymond, the Chief of Police, looks at her! Yet the wife could be the killer but Raymond knows Tabitha and sees her as innocent with his lovey dovey eyes.
Jolene’s place is doing well even if her tea is awful, as she has wonderful pastries. So between trying to get the gossip on Tabitha and dead Murray, she needs to learn to bake to compete in the tea business. But then the ghosts need her help as one is flickering away and poor Asher finds out about his past.
Rosemary wants to be part of the community and even takes self defense classes and the one held in a bar was out loud funny!
Meanwhile, Asher’s past is being checked by Rosemary’s mom, as Asher and team try to solve the murder.
Delighful characters, new friends, burnt scones, burnt building, ex prisoners, and buried treasure! And maybe a book club, info on Asher and more. This book goes down smooth on a hot afternoon and the people in it welcome you back, even Carl. And to picture yourself walking the beach and smelling the salt air but better still is sitting and watching Rosemary and Asher, comfortable in the quiet together. 4.8 stars
Loved this book! Rosemary is just such a cool person, seeing ghosts, running her own business, and solving murders. She’s able to solve so many things in this book, it was awesome! Old and new crimes were solved. Fantastic!
