Entertaining like its other predecessors.
I found a better balance in its relationship subplot and its action/adventure subplot… which was a relief. I was beginning to think that I was going to find myself back into a writer’s rut. Better than its previous volume, for certain.
My ONLY complaint, which is why I didn’t give it a full five stars, is that an editor was sorely needed here. Lots of grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors. Awkward sentences that had me going back to figure out what was being said. Also, continuity sucked in a few places. For example, instead of a small pup being put back into his pup crate, Atticus, the hero in the previous novel) was trying to be shoved into it. Geez!! That would had been a simple one to have noticed! Considering that Atticus isn’t a dog and stands over six feet tall, that was certainly a visual.
A few concepts had me scratching my head as in… “That’s hardly plausible”. Good thing it was worked out later in the book, but that much later?? Serious civil unrest and danger to residents made the local police department look like a trunk of ignorant flying monkeys. And I know that the local cops would have asked for help far sooner than much later. For a community that had to brace itself in the aftermath of the takedown and dissolution of a prison-for-profit, what would you expect? Daisies and tea cakes? Call in the National Guard, lady!! Come on! Not even for the sake of a viable storyline. You could still have gangbangers hanging out in the woods, causing trouble. A writer could have had a lot of fun with that.
I will be waiting for the next novel involving the Mountain Masters. I’ll be reading the next one involving Dark Haven… or maybe Shadowlands. Either BDSM club will suit me right now.

I love how the relationship is built between Mallory and Sawyer. Both of them are strong people in their own right. As Mallory learns to enjoy your submission while remain a strong and determined. I love the fact that Sawyer’s character is also allowed to develop. I also like the fact that the crisis point shows how it take a village to care for your own.
I listened to the audio version and with fun to hear the dual narration for each of the main characters as we saw the story unfold from their perspectives. Well done and enjoyable to listen to.
I love this authors books and I love how there is always an element of suspense involved with a ton of romance and scenes that would make your momma blush! Miscommunication, bad guys galore, a sweet (but oh so strong) heroine who falls for the seal who has a rough go of it. I also love catching up with favorite characters from both her Dark Haven series and this series.
Another wonderful story set in the Mountain Masters and Dark Haven series!!! This time it’s Sawyer and Mallory’s story. Even though Sawyer doesn’t want to care for anyone, when he sees Mallory trying to talk on thugs, he steps in to help! And it starts from there! This is a wonderful book with characters that are flawed but looking for the right person.
I can’t say enough about Ms. Sinclair’s books. They suck you into the story and you can’t put the book down until you are finished. I”ll be eagerly waiting for the next book
At last we return to the Mountian that I love so. Sawyer is such a good guy. The kind that will do anything for others no matter what it does to him. Mallory has the best heart ever. She falls hard and does not give up. As always Cherise gets your attention and will not let it go until you reach the end. Even then you still long for more.
Anything by Cherise Sinclair is 5 stars!
Really like this series. Need a fan while reading, but the characters are people you would like to know
Cherise’s work is always something I never want to put down, and she doesn’t disappoint here!!! Love, love, love…..always excited for more!
Love it when a man who has taken a few knocks in life still stands true to the honor ingrained in him no matter what life throws at him. Sawyer is what I would would call a humble Dom. Loved all his sides.
When we met Sawyer Ware in his brother Atticus book, he was serving time for manslaughter. After being medically discharged from the Navy Seals he was having a hard time adjusting and suffering from PTSD and fell asleep at the wheel killing his buddy. At the start of this book he has been out of prison for 5 weeks trying to put his life back together. One thing he notices is the white supremacist group that kidnapped his brother’s woman in the previous book now have a greater presence in the small mountain town and seem to have revenge on their mind with his brother being at the top of their list.
Mallory McCabe was an interesting heroine. Raised on a commune and able to read aura’s and then later lived with her Grandpa who taught her all the in’s and out’s of construction she’s like a mix of free spirit, confident business owner all while waiting for her hero to ride in on a white horse. She thinks that man is Sawyer when she meets him but after a night a lovemaking like she’s never experienced before he walks away shattering that dream.
There is so much going on in this book – and I mean that in a good way.. Sawyer starts of as the town outcast at the beginning but by the end with help from new friends and his woman they take back their town from the rift raft that’s invaded it. Along the way Sawyer gains his confidence back in himself. All of the characters from the Mountain Masters series play huge parts in this book and when there is a story detour to Dark Haven all those past characters make appearances. It was like Christmas, getting all my favorite characters in one book.
I am hoping there are more stories to come in this series as Morgan and Wyatt Masterson and Hector Ware need their stories told..
I love this author and have read all her books. This one is not as good as her previous books. She is taking her characters and plot line to the mountains and the characters of small town Bear Flat and the overlap is sometimes too much.
